council housing? argh!!

sorry just me feeling angry & upset about being on the housing list for months & still we havent heard anything

Its only 9 weeks til my babys due & on the same date i have to move out of the house im in now because the landlord is selling the house so we're getting evicted basicly, ive rang the council & they keep saying 'all you can do is keep bidding' which we have been doing for months & im just getting so fed up & tired & im so worried & worked up because i want the house to be clean & ready for when baby gets here & what if baby comes early??
we cant even get our furniture til we get our house.

if anyone else had to go through this how far gone were you when you got a place??

thankyou xxxx

I was nineteen when I was pregnant - and I didn't get a house until 35 weeks. Even then I had to wait until I had been kicked out of my house, move in with my Gran and then go into the council office and really lay it on thick.
I didn't have to bid. I think it was because Tegan is disabled, they found me somewhere two days after I went into the office. They took a flat back that they offered to a teenage boy who was safe and living with his parents and gave it to me.

Good luck.

you need to show the council some confirmation the landlord is going to evict you, otherwise they just wont do a thing

Me and my partner were on the council list. Both our homes were over crowded and there was no way possible we could live with either of our families. We bidded for about 8 weeks and by talking to people and stuff realised that we probably would not be given a home for around a year, the list is that huge. We decided we didnt want to risk having the stress of not having a proper settled home for baby that we could prepare in advance. Long story short, we're moving into our private rent flat in three weeks. Have you tried looking at private renting? Might be worth looking into. We didn't think we'd be able to afford it but were surprised at what we found

Me and James were going to get a council place but we knew we would never be ready by the time the babies arrive and it would be too much stress looking after 2 LO's and getting a place ready, so were moving into either his or mine permenantly for a year or so or until we have enough to rent privatley and the twins are old enough to be left with there grandparents by themselves

You need the landlord to put it in writing that he is evicting you and sign it and they may need to ring him aswell

Where I live, some council areas are ok but the majority are awful, and the schools by them are awful and i wouldnt want to bring up my kids there, thats another reason why id rather rent privatley
