Hey all, Ive got my first scan on the 8th April and I'm really nervous!! I don't know what to expect from it all! Was just wondering if there were others out there who I could chat to as Im finding it a bit of a new experience.
hey hun - dont be nervous, at the scan all they do is put some jelly on your tummy and take what looks like a computer mouse kind of and move it around to look at the baby who will come up on a screen. i didnt have a scan at exactly your date but im sure you will be able to see a small little thing with some buds for arms and legs maybe ( again im not sure because i had my scan at 8 weeks and all i could see was a round circle with a heart beating) if im remembering right. maybe someone else will come along who had a scan at 11 wks and can tell u exactly what ull see then. its a lovely experience. if they are finding it hard to see the baby there is a chance that will do a vaginal scan, which they sometimes do early on, for that they use a wand with jelly on the end and insert it a bit into your vagina, it doesnt hurt at all just a bit weird thats all. most probably they wont need to do that tho.

everything will be ok and i agree with what cupcake said.
when i had my scan it was with the thing on my belly and not an internal so you souldnt need an internal one.
just make sure you drink lots of water before your scan as your bladder will push your uterus up and they will get a clearer picture of baby.
we could see quite alot when we had our scan the head, body, arms and legs oh and the hearbeat.
if i remember ill post a pic of my 11 week scan for you tomorrow on this thread.
if i dont do it tomorrow ill do it tuesday.
everything will be fine and when you have your scan just enjoy seeing your baby.

I've had scans for other things (I've never had a pregnancy-related scan though) It doesn't hurt or anything. It's pretty cool! The details that you get from these tings are really amazing.
No need to worry, I had my scan when I was 11 weeks along. They put this jelly stuff on your tummy and this handheld electronic thing ontop. It's a tad cold, and the only uncomfortable thing about getting my ultrasound is depending on how far along your bladder may still be almost uncontrolable. When they pushed down it felt like i was about to pee myself right there! No worries though, you'll get to see your LO! Hope it helps. xx
All I can say about my first scan is that I think it was the most amazing experience of my life!! Really I found it better than my 20 week scan because I still couldn't quite believe I was pregnant and then there on the screen was MY little baby wiggling its arms and legs about. I nearly cried.
had 2 scans now and omg it was the most amazing thing ever!! my due date is now 28th oct but its only 4/5 weeks til i find out what im having already!!!
