Hey everyone! I'm definitely scared right now.
OK so I was waiting to conceive until I was 20 something.
But now I'm confused. Because I recently got a depo provera shot and I'm unsure whether it worked
see, I first got depo a while back, and then stopped to explore other birth control methods. During the 2 months I was off it (or about that amount of time), I only had 1 period. However, I was tested for pregnancy, but nothing came up.
Now, I'm on depo again, but they gave me the shot when I wasn't menstruating.

SO IM CONFUSED: Did the shot work? Because I wasnt bleeding when they gave me the shot! ! !
Because I "did it" about 28 or 29 days after the shot.

I'm so scared, could I be pregnant? Or could I have been pregnant before the shot, and I still am pregnant?

I'm worried because I've been spotting, and sometimes bleeding.

I don't really know too much about the depo provera shots hun, but I think your best course of action would probably be to do a home pregnancy test and possibly see your local GP.

How long ago did you have sex?

Well the last time I had sex without a condom was after I got the depo shot. It was on October 26th I think?
I think I had sex last week as well. (I forget everything lately though!)

You don't have to be on your period when you get the depo, I think the only reason they would say that would be to give it a bit of time to get into your system since they assume you don't have sex while you're on. Anyway, my sister has had loads of weird spotting/bleeding and she's definitely not pregnant. The depo also makes your periods really weird, and it gave me pregnancy symptoms aswell. It's really really unlikely to conceive while you're on it, but it can happen so If you're really worried, take a test xx

Its unlikely that you'd be pregnant, but your best bet would be to wait until a couple of weeks after you've had sex and take a pregnancy test.

thank you everyone! I will take one dollar store one tho just to be certain in a few weeks. But thanks for your advice everyone, i dont think i am anymore and im not as worried

I was on depo for a year before I decided to change back to the pill. You are MUCH better off on the depo if you don't want to get pregnant. It is effective if you get it on time and when I had my 1st shot I was half way through a packet of the pill and that didn't matter. As long as you get it done every 12 weeks then you will be fine and antibiotics don't mess it up like they do with the pill (that's how I got pregnant!) I also had lots of pregnancy symptoms while on depo cos the injection actually tricks your body into thinking it is pregnant. But i had no periods or bleeding the entire time - it's different for every woman. I'd take a test to put your mind at rest but it will probably be negative.

I got pregnant on the depo after 2 years on it - no birth control is %100 effective - if you don't wanna get pregnant wear condoms

Does depo not go with certain antibiotics, or all of them in general?
