I am incredibly conservative, i mean i cldnt even get changed in front of people in PE! but altho its daunting im slowly gettin used to it, @ the end of the day its the most natural thing in the world. In this instance boobs r in NO way sexual they r simply a means of nurtering a baby. Employing the use of a nice shawl (sp?) is also excellent!
Plus its not too bad as pple r gettin more used 2 the idea of bfing and alot of places these days tend to have feeding rooms...and starbucks r openly supportve of it in store. (A toughy 4 me coz i used to boycott them 4 political reasons - but wen bubs wants feeding he wants feeding!)
p.s its taken me ages to type this coz iv been one handed...guess why? lol
u gotta love bfing!

I feel the same way.
I'm hoping I'll just get use to it when he comes but for now I still feel totally against the idea of BFing in public.
Not that I think its wrong but I'm so self conscious!

I formula fed my first and bf my second. Bf was way easier once I got over the first week. I was tempted to put ehr onto formula but I got as far as putting the bottles in the steriliser and said no way, too much work! I've my own milk ready to go. I was much more rested and less tired than formula feeding. I don't get the whole 'share the bonding or the feeding' becuase in reality it just causes arguments. It's much easier for me to just do the feed (bfing is much quicker as well) and for himself to do the changes.

As for bfing in public, if you are feeding you have a babies head infront of the breast, there is nothing that can be seen, you see more with girls walking around in low cut tops! Also, a well placed scarf or pashmina sorts that out if it makes you more comfortable.

I was morto the first time I realised I was going to have to feed in public, but after the first time I never have an issue.

I planned to bf for a few weeks, and those weeks turned into months...19 months (can't believe that!) because she was so healthy, so much healthier than my DS who has asthma, and allergies and is always sick, my 2 yo has never had anything! and It kept me super skinny while eating whatever I wanted! Totally recommend giving it a go!

Ur welcome, plus look out for discreet feeding tops! Mothercare do some and h&m in the maternity section. Ther designed so u litterally only pop out the nipple and everythin else is covered by fabric and obviously baby covers up the nip, looks a bit weird actually lol lyk bub is feeding off fabric.
Also if ur bfing make sure u invest in a nursing bra! Xcelent with little snappers on the top of each cup so u can jus flick down the cup rather than the whole bra wen neccesary x

Yay!!!

Temg and Kris are SO right .... bf in public isn't as bad as you might think. I was really lucky and was 'taught' to bf discreetly from the offsky by a neighbour of mine... I've even had total strangers sitting next to me and chatting who haven't even been aware that I was feeding while talking to them LOL

Feeding bras that you can undo/do up with one hand are a must (practice before LO comes along so you can do that without looking) .... long baggy T shirts/tops, pashminas, shawls, ponchos and even specially made feeding aprons will completely disguise what you are doing and, once you realise that no-one is even looking in your direction, you won't be self concious about it at all

Thanks for the tip about those tops Kris - I'll look out for some for Tattie
