I knew you long before I ever saw your face. And when I first held you in my arms, I fell in love. Some days I think I know you better than I know myself.
I know the way your hair naturally falls. I know the shape of your eyebrows and how your right one is more pointed than your left. I know the top of your big toes and the way that nail has a curve to it that makes it hard to trim. I know the gentle curve of your back. I know the way your eyes sparkle with your smile. I know the little dimples on your elbows & cheeks. I know the pink shade of your lips. I usually know what you need, even if no one else does.
I know where your "poorlys" are, and I how you got many of them. I know the scar on your foot, will hopefully fade. I know that when you hurt your head that it feels better after you put your head to mine. I know the sound of your laugh better than I know my own. I know the smell of your breath when you wake up. I know what helps you fall asleep. I know the way you fit so snugly in my arms. I know your tears and what they mean.
Your cooing always makes me smile. You have inspired me to keep going when I felt like giving up. You are my sunshine in the storm. Your surprise kisses brighten my heart. Some days I wish I could hold you and keep you from the world, in hopes of keeping you from heartache, but that would also keep you from many joys.
I’m so SO sorry for the things going on with your daddy. I pray relentlessly that this doesn’t have a negative affect on you for any reason. I know it’s not going to be easy for you, and that breaks my heart. I don’t regret getting with him though. If I hadn’t, I would have never known this love that wells up inside of me each time you hug me.
You amaze me. You teach me. You have taught me more about what unconditional love is. I am a better person because of you.
You are growing up so quickly, but sometimes when I look at you, especially when you’re sleeping, I still see my little 1 minute oldnewborn baby.
Please, don’t grow up TOO fast.

I can't wait for my baby boy to get here so I can have that connection as well.
