i honestly think it varies from person to person. i only had gas and air for like 5 minutes at the end and to be honest i could of easily of done it without. but for someone women its horrible. whateva the labour is like its completely worth it once you're handed your baby! it does hurt but you never know you might be lucky! x

I look at it as if it hurt that much everyone would only have one baby! lol

if you find it hard though you could have an epidural xx

Well I won't lie hun, it does hurt, but it's 1000% worth it. It definately varies per person, I was terrified about labour and giving birth, but if I'm totally honest I came out of it saying 'Yeh I could probably do that again' There's all sorts of pain relief you can think about too, if you talk with your midwife she'll be able to explain them to you. Personally I used a birthing pool and had gas and air, but it doesn't help everyone.
Think of it this way, a woman is meant to give birth, it's natural, so everything that happens is completely natural. It's a very weird experience giving birth, but once you've got your baby in your arms, none of the pain that you went through matters.

Hope this helps. Try and relax and take it easy, what will be will be, and you will get through it.

And... 8 months later, I don't think about the pain, it's a real effort to remember it if that makes sense, but with no trouble at all I can remember those precious first moments- first time I saw her and those first couple of days in the hospital <3

TBH i had an induction labour and managed to 7cm with nothing. But as soon as they broke my waters the contractions got 100% worse, this is when i had pethadine and gas and air. But i was in the pushing stage 20mins after having waters broken. Pushed for nearly 2hours and that hurt but i was so out of it on gas n air. He was 9lb6oz though so a big baby! I dont agree with the pain ends straight away though, i was in AGORNY after, begging for stronger painkillers. I had a 2nd degree tear but i refused to have it stitched. the most painful bit was him moving right down the birth cannel tbh.. And heres me the biggest wuss ever! i need numbing cream for injections!

Giving birth is incredible. yes, it hurts. yes, its hard. But it is also empowering, beautiful and awesome. Your body is capable of incredible things. dont be scared, honey. Its called labour for a reason - its hard work! but you will get through it and the minute your baby is born you will forget how much it hurt.

My son is 21 months old and we are TTC #2, and i absolutely cannot WAIT to give birth again. so it cant be that bad
