I cant think of anything else they may ask you. I was in the docs for about 20 mins but they did a pregnancy test on me too as I had not done one at the stage.

They did it there and then. Took 5 minutes.

I would doubt if you get a different result though. x

Hi Nikky

I only got past the going to the docs for a confirmed pregnancy stage. I was due to see a midwife but I miscarried about a week before I saw her.

The docs will pass your notes onto the midwife and they will contact you to see you.

Hi Nikky

I think different doctors in different areas do perhaps different things! I insisted that I be tested there and then as I said that I had drank a pint of water beforehand and needed to know. She wasnt going to test me as I was only 4 days overdue. Stupid doctor.

Hi Nikky,

When you go to see your doctor, you will probably be asked to give a urine sample just to confirm the pregnancy - this will be tested using a simple stick test and you'll get the result straight away. However if you've done a home test and it's come up positive they may not ask you to do another one.

They will need to ask some questions about your health - nothing too invasive, just general questions about your eating /drinking / smoking habits, any hereditary illnesses, the regularity of your cycle, the date of your last monthly period etc. They will probably also ask you if the father is still in the picture, and may ask you if you're at risk of any domestic violance.

After all this is done they will ask if you have any questions, and will help talk you through all of your options and will be able to give you information and support on how to continue with whatever you decide. If you decide that an abortion is best for you they can help you book this - they will encourage you to talk with your parents about this but cannot make you. If you decide to continue with the pregnancy, they will send your details to a midwife, who will contact you shortly thereafter for your booking-in appointment - where she takes all your details and some blood and urine samples - the whole crazy pregnancy thing starts from there really!

Best of luck, hun. Please keep us updated on how the appointment goes and how you are doing x
