Ok guys so did/do you feel you recieve/d adequate support from midwifes during your pregnancy and after birth? please feel free to give examples but please do not put your name or hosp trust in !! thanksxx

During my pregnancy I was fairly happy with the support I received, one thing that did annoy me though was the fact that I seemed to see a different midwife on each of my visits. I appreciate that they get very busy and it's not always possible to see the same one, but it would have been nice to build up a rapport.

When I was in labour I was left in a corridoor for hours, yet again I know this isn't their fault.. it's our NHS thats the problem there. My midwives were great in labour and afterwards with helping to care for Bethanie. Could have been more helpful with breastfeeding though to be honest!! I was disappointed. I can't fault the midwives that cared for me during labour though, excellent!

I think the support I received was pretty good. The MW I saw during pregnancy was the same one who saw my mum when she was pregnant with me and then my brother, which was slightly strange. I saw 2 MWs during labour as it was hand-over - which is slightly difficult when she just disappears. TBH the first one I saw didn't really seem to know what she was doing and she was continually walking out of the room for ages, and left me in a consultant room when my notes stated that I wasn't supposed to be there. The 2nd one however, was really lovely and I couldn't fault her at all - she talked me through everything and was really supportive. x

The midwife at my local clinic was nice. Just nice though. Seemed withdrawn, but I only seen her twice as I then had to change to a specialist consultant. I caught parvo virus and know one seemed to no enough about it or how to treat it but my consultant was amazing, researched for hours and learned the best way to treat it. She kept my mobile number and got in touch often. Ive had continious support throughout the whole of the pregnancy from her and she is an absolute angel. I dont believe my baby would be happy growing inside me now if it wasnt for her x

Oh and im 17-19

when i was 17 i got the bare minimum from my normal midwives,I had a class from 30 weeks for teen mums that was great The birth was horrific in the fact i knew so little about what was going to happen and especially afterwards the care i got was shocking. Financially i got loads of support and a home which made it possible for me to do something with my life.

From family they tried but they had me terrified! and made it very difficult to enjoy my baby.

This time (aged 23 and on baby number 2) The care i have gotten is fantastic. midwives are lovely with me and talk to me as a woman and give me choices! I am expected to enjoy it this time and any fears i have are releived quickly and not made compounded.

i feel like when i go to see my midwife she never gives me much information and doesnt explain things proply she only ever seems just to do what shes got to do like blood pressure, listen to babys heartbeat ect and thats it shes not very chatty or friendly either , last time i went she told me i was rh negative blood and id have to have shots and that was it i came out of the doctors and thought i dont have a clue what she ment by that, she could of explained proply as now ive read into i feel like it was quite an important thing to explain to me i see her tomoz so il see how that goes il just bombard her with loads of questions this time lol xxx

when i visit my midwife at the surgery i feel she has no time for me, i feel as if she is rushing me and i am just another patient on her list. i have been actually told by a midwife 'we'll do that next time i need to hurry ive got home visits to do aswell today' rude!
BUT i go to a group called young mums and its for mums 21 and under, i love it you get 2 hours to sit with other young mums and 2 lovely midwives and they go through pain relief and labour signs etc and they check you every week and let u listen to LO's heartbeat every week. this is run in a primary school i think its run by surestart x

Ive been to see mine again today and yet again came out feeling dissapointed , im 28 weeks and the next time i see her it will be the month b4 im due and she still hasnt told me any inforamtion about pregnancy and giving birth, every time i go it seems she just does what she has to do and thats it so im a bit peed off today i was expecting to find out loads xxx
