Folic Acid


Did all of you take Folic Acid? & when do you have to stop taking it or when is the latest you can start taking it?

i took it twice but made me sick the taste of it in my mouth,
but its found in cerals and allsorts of green veg so i just always make sure i'm eating enough of them

I took pregnacare, thats got folic acid and alsorts in.

Its never too late to start taking it x

Doctor usually gives it you from like 8weeks im sure maybe earlier depends when you find out your pregnant.. but i got mine at about 8weeks and i got told to take them til 12weeks but i brought some more from the supermarket and im stil taking them now and prob will to nearer my due date just because i dont tend to have my 5 a day somedays i just feel better taking it makes me think im giving baby what it needs but everyones different it most likly doesnt matter

i think the most important time to take it is the first 3 months of the pregnancy!!!!! but i have carried on taking mine && i will do for the rest of my pregnancy as it is a multi vitamin

yeah i agree its supposed to be the first few weeks of pregnancy lol
i took mine a week after i found out up until my 12 weeks scan x

I took it a few times but have a memory like a fish & kept forgetting!

Like others have said, its more important in the first 12 weeks, after that its upto you, but if your pretty healthy anyway and try get some of your 5 a day, you should be fine.

I'm glad someone mentioned about it being in cereals, I lived off Weetabix with hot milk in the first 14/15 weeks, like Breakfast and dinner some days(!) lol so hoping I got my folic acid from that?! I think its mainly to protect your baby from Spina Bifinda? All scans i've had so far say baby is fine, yay

I took a prenatal vitamin from 10 weeks until the day I gave birth that included folic acid It's most important up until week 12, helps with the fusion of the neural tube I believe?? (taking it can help to prevent Spina Bifida) .. but good for you anyway if you continue taking it!

I took pregnecare from the day i found out untill around 12 weeks, it made me feel so ill, so i stoped at 12, but im debating weather to try again as i dont eat much of a healthy diet xx
