Somebody help!

Hey everyone...
uhm. well I started bleeding on July 14th, 15th, and 16th... it was somewhat heavy spotting (light red) the first day, and the next 2 days it was light brown spotting.
You see, but everythings all complicated
....

I'm on Depo-Provera, and I wasn't using protection.
And this occurred regularly..

I'm getting some cramping, bloating, and weight gain. been sneezing a lot too, and been super congested. i vomit in my mouth occasionally. and for some reason chocolate soy milk seems to be quite delicious recently. (especially today. I drank about 2 quarts of chocolate soy milk and i bought it on a whim grocery shopping. Note: I bought it today, I drank it all by myself today.......)

I don't know Im just nervous

Sooo confused.
I was wondering when I should test, considering Depo-Provera made me stop my periods completely.

Now, lets say you advice me to test in 2 weeks.... should I not get my Depo shot until the 2 week duration is finished and a negative result appears?
I am soooo confused. Some one, help!

No one tells me anything about safe sex or anything. They assume I learn it from my gal pals and stuff. but in all honesty, none of us talk about stuff like that....

Anyways, help...

What I meant by "this occurred regularly" was that I was having unprotected intercourse regularly.

Irregular bleeding is a side effect of Depo. I had nothing but problems on the Depo shot when I was a teenager. I had bleeding all the time and weird side effects. If you were having a *period* in the middle of July, I think you wouldn't get a positive test until the middle of August even if you WERE pregnant. You are probably safe, give it about 2 more weeks and test again if you are worried. If the symptoms don't go away, I'd consider a new form of birth control.

I have no idea about depo sorry. But sometimes if you belive you are pregnant you get symptoms, i found this on a couple of occasions. Not always the case tho, is their not someone you could speak to or go to like a young persons clinic or something? xx

I don't know anything about the shot, but I do know that even with the pill you can get random bleeding from it.

Also, if you were on the shot, it's a form of birth control and therefore, it was protected sex. An exception would be if you were late getting your last shot or something like that.

The best time to test would be two weeks after the last time you had sex. That way, you should have given it enough time for the result to be accurate.

And if you think you're pregnant, I would advise you not to get the shot again until after you find out. However, I'm not sure if that would mess up how effective it is, so it would probably be a good idea to call your doctor and check up on that.

If you don't know when your period in then you can usually test 14 days after sex, then if you're still unconvinced again in a few days time.

I assume you're worried about whether depo will harm the baby if there is one? In which case, just speak to your doctor about it The whole point of the depo injection is that you can have sex without a condom as the injection is your form of contraception so i don't think your doctor will judge you for it.

If you are on Depo, your periods would becoming irregularly, you wont be getting pregnant with irregular but it does stop you getting pregnant. But it could happen, but better to wait two weeks time to test if it comes up negative, you got nothing to worry about. I have been on depo for 4 years no problems, didn't get pregnant while on depo. But when I come off the depo to get my periods after a year to come back and becomes regular to get ready to plan a baby.

How long have you been on depo?

I started it in May of 2007. About a month after I got my first shot, I started having light, irregular bleeding that lasted until I stopped getting the shot a year later.

The depo shot provides 99.7% protection from pregnancy--only 3 out of 1000 women who get the shot will get pregnant. That said, if you are pregnant, you absolutely should not get the shot because some studies have shown that it can harm the baby. For this reason, if you are more than a week late in getting a shot, they require a pregnancy test before you can get the shot. Maybe ask the doctor to do a blood test a few days before you are due for your next shot.

Your birth control options are your personal choice, obvioulsy, but if you want a baby any time in the next few years, you might want to reconsider using the shot. It takes two years for your fertility to completely return to normal after the shot. Many women get pregnant before that two years, but most can't get pregnant for six months or so after coming off the shot. My last shot was in March 2008, I started BCPs in June 2008, went off the BCPs in November 2008, and it's been nine months and I haven't gotten pregnant yet.

All that said, it's very unlikely that you got pregnant while on depo as long as you got the shots when you were supposed to. It is possible though, so think about having a blood test done before your next shot, just to be safe.
