Too early to buy things?

So I'm 8 weeks, and I bought just a few onesies...I came home to tell my friend and he said it was too soon fo me to buy anything.
I can't help myself tho. Plus money is and will be a big issue for me, is it so wrong to buy a few things when I have the money even if it is very early?
When did you guys start shopping for your baby or your bump?

You start buying things when YOU'RE ready and not everyone else. With my last baby we started straight away. This time we are waiting a bit longer but thats just choice! Some people start at 12 weeks some people at 20 weeks its totally personal preference xx

I waited until 19 weeks, I wanted to find out the gender.. didn't find out until 25 weeks though so I bought a few gender neutral items after 19 weeks.. ordered the crib, and then at 25 weeks when I found out I went out and bought some girly stuff as soon as I knew

Just my preference though, I didn't want to end up with a boatload of neutral items

As others have said, buy when you feel you want too, dont let anyone else make you feel bad for enjoying a bit of shopping and spreading out the cost.
Heck Im on my 2nd and I have to admit I went into Next a couple of days ago and bought a footless sleepsuit because it was just SO cute. Ive got it hung on the edge of a bookshelf so I can look at it when Im on the computer and its the first thing I see in the morning and last thing at night. Just think, if Im this bad with my 2nd how bad I was with my 1st

You can start shopping whenever you want. I didn't start shopping until after my 20 week scan, but that was because I wanted to know the gender first, since I already have a ton of boy clothes from my son and wouldn't need any if we were having another boy. Before that I was ready to shop, but didn't want to. There's no problem with buying things here and there, no matter how early you start, because it will help spread the costs out.
