Help with the future!!

Heeey I'm 18 and currently 7 Weeks pregnant with my boyfriend who I am steady with. At the moment I don't have a job and its unlikey I'll get one dut to my circumstance and the resession but I will keep on trying! My boyfriend has a job but is not enough to pay for us alone. I live in a shared house but it isn't suitable to bring up a baby and Its not an option I move into my boyfriends at his parents when the baby is born. I *COULD* move in with my mum. Now. I am wondering has anyone been in my position in the UK and can tell me everything I need to do, such as how to go about benefits and possible housing? I'm completely clueless as to how to go about this!

Thanks guys xX

Hey,
Regards to housing, Its different in every part of the country. I live in Bristol and i been on the council list ever since i found out i was pregnant and i still havent got somewhere. But it could be different for you.

If your not working you should go to your nearest Job Centre and sign up for a benifit called Job Seekers Allowance, its for people who havent got any work but are activley seeking work, I think they give you about £45 a week for that.

If you get that claim sorted you can then go and start looking for private properties, Although you have to make sure the landlord takes DSS, DSS is completley payed for by the council so you wont have to pay a penny! but you have to be claiming a benifit(JSA) to actually be able to get that.

I'd make sure your on your council list first though as their rents alot cheaper and its proven quite hard for me anyway to find a landlord that takes DSS.

Message me back if you need to know anything else, And i'll try to help =)

x

Everything is on that Direct Gov website... its very confusing... u have to be working for something like 26weeks of the 66weeks leading up to your due date... if u can get that u may be entitled to Maternity allowance paid by the governement... if u cant get that i think u can get the Sure Start £500 grant.... there is help out there.

I suggest u get in contact with your local Job Centre Plus and they will help you out

Good luck!

x
