Trying to make a doctors appointment for the pill!

ive been trying for ages to get a doc appointment so i can go on the pill after my last pregnancy scare i realised i dont want to risk getting pregnant. so mother told me i have to ring up on the day at a certain time to make an appointment. tryed a couple of days ago had no luck. so tryed again just now took about 15 minutes till i finally got put through to reception and i asked if there wer any appointments available this afternoon with a female doc n she said no not with a female doc so i said okay what about next week she said all advanced appointments are taken, by this point im getting quite annoyed i said well what can i do she said there is a female doc in next wednesday u will have to ring up at half 8 in the morn to TRY and make an appointment and even then theres no guarentee i will get an appointment.
i need to go on the pill NOW i do not want to risk getting pregnant after the last scare. why is it so much trouble to make an appointment surely they want to do all they can to prevent teenage pregnancy. this seems so silly surely theres got to be another way to go on the pill asap, although i dont want a male doc!

hi Blondeone....

Do you have a family planning centre close by??? They can also issue the pill.... you can also continue to go there for follow up appointments etc... all done by a doc!

Hope this helps and good luck!

Do you have a family planning clinic or a walk in centre near you? They are often a lot easier to see someone and they are more understanding.

My old Dr's used to have a system like this. I would make an appointment for the 'next available' - and I wouldn't try to keep it to just a female Dr either.....male Dr's do the same job and have the same training. I find them to be a lot more 'business-like' which makes embarrassing illnesses easier to deal with. When you do get an appointment just tell them straight out that you want to go on the pill....they will just take your blood pressure, go through the pro's and cons and then print you a prescription.

I agree. If you can find a family planning clinic that would be great

Plus, you do know that you can't just randomly start taking the pill? You need to start on the last day of your period.

Oh and I would advise you to use condoms for the first month on the pill, until you finish the first pack.

There is a walk-in clinic close to here and that's where I go. it's really easy and they see this kind of stuff all the time. Plus, no appointments! If you can find one of those.. definitely a good idea.

If there a youth clinic or walk in centre near you, you can get the pill from there

it seems like ur clinic is very short on female doctors. Male doctors arent bad...if all your wanting to get is a prescription for the pill, theres no reason to not go see a male doctor. If it was getting a pap smear i'd understand u'd want a female...but if its just for the pill, y not see a male doc?
