hi, i didn't see it but my oh did and was unimpressed by the way they described teen parents, we have also seen numerous other programmes claiming the same things which aren't true by what is said on here and as we are 19 (oh will be 20 when baby born) and have been together for 3 years and have our own flat (we pay rent) oh is working (i can't as been advised to give up and wasnt entiled to maternity leave as only part time, but im not laiming benefits as oh's wages are enough to live on) i dont smoke or drink or do drugs (oh smokes, not near me tho only outside and only rarly has a drink) so it really annoys us to be stero-typed (esp as i look young) by people who don't even know me

sorry rant over (blame the hormones) and good luck to everyone xx

That program was set at the hospital I went to. I had the teen midwife lady for an appointment and she spoked to me like shit. That program made me really angry as theres loads of teen girlies on here who are amazing examples of young mummys. They never show them do they?

i saw this too and was equally annoyed, it made me want to my lip piercing out hahaha,
it was a complete accident me getting pregnant not that i regret it now though,
the minute i found out i was pregnant i stopped smoking and drinking,
we wernt properly together at the time i got pregnant but we are working things out slowly and he has promised to be around for me and the baby, we have a brilliant relationship and our baby will never see us in any argument as we get on so well, only problem is we live quite far abit, but he has a car so all good.
i work, and OH has a good job and is at uni, we are both 19 and i think have taken on the responcability as we should have done and put our lairy past behind us,

the girls on that show were just an awful representation of the lot of us and i hope people dont see me or any of us as being like that, i think its the minority like that not majority, and we will all be great im sure!

I couldnt even bring myself to watch it because i know how those programs portray young mums.
Not everyone is like that and thats what people dont understnad they just put us in the sterotypical group that all teen mums are like that and most of us are not, theres just a minority that get all the publicity and give us hard working teen mummys and mummys to be a crap name!!!

I just watched this online with 4OD

There was one girl who seemed like she had a brain but the rest were pretty bad examples of teen pregnancy and motherhood at it's worst.

I think most people who will have seen the show will realise that isn't a valid representation of all teen mums though, and appreciate that not all pregnant teenagers or mums are like that. Of course there will always be people who stereotype but not everyone will come away thinking "they're all like that"

I have to say i wasn't a fan of the doctors attitude to her patients, but similarly, the midwife who seemed a bit "airy fairy" and not as stern in her approach also came across as a bit useless. You had the doctor basically chastising the girls and being pretty patronising and condescending and then the midwife saying to the girl who was trying to feed her baby a biscuit "no really...that's not a good idea" rather than telling her the dangers of feeding a baby solids and waving that princess crown around every five minutes

I don't think it was just a bad selection of teen mums it was also a bad selection of health professionals.

But the point of the show was to demonstrate that teenagers are costing the nhs a fortune, and yes, that's true, they are, particularly if they drink to excess, do drugs, have complicated pregnancies and overeat...but other age groups do this too, and really one of the biggest costs to the nhs is the other extreme- the ageing population and the cost of people living longer. But that wasn't what the show was about and i guess that's why it seemed to one-sided.

A while back i watched a really good show on teenage pregnancy about a school in stockport for pregnant teenage girls or teenage girls with young babies. I wish i could remember what it was called, it made for far better viewing!

Its a shame people can't look at a teenager pregnant and just think thats nice that young lady is going to have a baby, rather than automatically giving them funny looks. People for you eh? I'll admit on tv etc I've seen some teen mums who look like they're going to be hopeless because they seem really selfish, its funny though, because they're mostly the only ones who get shown. Its very biased if you ask me!
