Should I add hit to my birth certificate?

I'm with my child's father, we have our issues, so long story short, what are the pros of having his name on the birth certificate? I have an idea legally, I just want to be sure. I know that you get more state aid if there is no fathers name on the certificate, but I am not completely sure of all the information on that. Any info would help. TX

He's her father? Regardless of pros/cons, he has a right to be on her birth certificate.

Your decision hun. Think long and hard about it. Here a name can be added onto a birth certificate but not removed.

If you're still together why would you not want to put him on?

Don't think I will be for long. We are trying for the sake of my baby however; I really don't know the outcome of that, and I might leave the state.

We cannot judge at all. I know for a fact I was VERY glad I DID not put the father on the BC because he assumed he was ( even though I told him he was not) and he kept trying to throw his weight around and control me, when I told him he was not, well he backed down a bit (not much though) but I feel better knowing that for him to get rights it will cost him time and money, which buys me time until my LO is older and able to cope with being away from me.

I do not know how it works in the USA but in the UK naming the father on the BC gives his half rights to the child so he can say what goes and what doesnt.
