3yr old not wanting to stay at dads???

Hiya
Was just wondering if any of you have had this situation and what you did, or what you would do if this comes up???
My LO is almost 3, and has always stayed once a week at his dads since he was 1, but these last few weeks has been refusing to stay overnight. He goes no problem, and just when gets into evening he starts to ask to go home. When I've asked him, he just says that he doesn't like staying over, but he has never complained up to now. When he is told he'll be going home in morning he has even started to pretend he doesn't feel well, as he knows this will get him home.
I've been letting him come home up til now, and hoping its just a phase, but so far doesn't seem to be passing, and my ex seems to think that I have engineered this to destroy his relationship with LO. Am I doing the right thing by letting him dictate this or should I be forcing him to stay??

I think if he pulls a sicky you should just say something like "that's O.K. daddy will be able to make you feel better" and try to stay calm about it x

my 3 year old nephews do this sometimes they want to stay sometimes they want to go home to mummy, but then after a few tears and talking to there mum there usually ok
i'm sure it's just your LO missing home

Hiya hun , my son does this but with his uncle , he doesn't see his dad & his uncle is the closest male he has ..so anyway usually he loves it & cant wait to go but just lately hes asked to come home when its got nearer bedtime, Sometimes i think its because he lets him ring me up at bedtime which ive now stopped & other times he just gets to tired & worked up & misses me aww . I let him come home as i couldnt bare for him to be upset, but now ive started telling him he needs to get his bedtime routine sorted . As yet he still asks to come home but it'll be ok once the phase goes.

What you've said Dizzymoo is quite similar to the situation. I have been phoning as well to see how he is and say goodnight, so think will have to stop that. I think it is just when he gets over tired or bored, so guess its up to his dad to fix routine when he's with him.
