income support


hi urm well ive just checked my bank and now that im (finally) getting child tax credit, my income support and cb seemed to have stopped. never been on any of these before so not sure if thats right. just wanted to ask if this is indeed what is supposed to happen? xx

no, I don't think that's supposed to happen hun. CB is definitely not meant to and as far as I'm aware child tax credits and income support aren't at all linked.

Everyone who has a child in this country and who is entitled to public funds (i.e. those who are born here) get child benefit regardless of earnings, so that is totally wrong. As far as income support goes, you should still get an allowance for you, as child tax credit is literally only for your child, and you need support to live too. Definately give them a call.

that website is brilliant, explains it all.

there are loads of factors to consider with benefits, like whether your single, living on your own, if partner works etc...so its hard to say.
