In Aussie I paid $989 for the ps3 console, it came with one controller and two games. So I then had to buy another 3 contollers at $75 a piece ( total $225). I then went out and bought a heap of ps2 games at a cheap price ( 2 games for $50) and I also bought some ps3 games. ps3 games range from $70 - $110 here. The eye wear and game is $89 and also the charger cords are $15 each.
The reason I have both ps2 and ps3 is because my girlfriend is giving me her old ps2 ( she has bought the ps3) so that way the kids can play most games in both machines.
I understand about the graphics but my boys are 10 ( nearly 11), 9yrs and 7yrs so i don't think they really care, unlike my 42yr old child, lol.

I believe I spent just on this stuff about $1700 - $1800 and that is alot of money.
I am not sure how to convert it to UK money

OH is manager of a gaming store in aus....
We have:

2 x original xbox
3 x xbox 360 (original, elite, and halo release)
1 x ps3
2 x psp
2 x ds (1 old 1 new)
1 x wii

and about 38 old school consoles..atari's, nintendo's etc

and after alll that i have to say i LOVE my 360 soooo much, she's my baby

OH loves the ps3 cos of the blue ray and stuff but im a microsoft chick all the way

sony (ps3) offer good deals and make there products well.. a ps3 is a good investment because you can also watch the blu ray and HD dvds on them which will be phasing out dvds soon anyway so definately a good purchase. plus if you connect it online you can actually buy 5 dollar cheap games in the online market.

ok i could go on forever and ever lol so you get the idea..

goodluck with it guys ....(i would wait till the christmas sales as sony will most likely release a price drop around dec/jan)

kx, does dale know tht xbox now own the rights to pro evo? its only coming ot once on ps3! darren is gutted!
The reason I want to buy ps2 games to play in the ps3 is because my friend is giving me her old ps2 and that way the games can be shared between both machines. Also since my kids are still young, they really don't care about the graphics that much. Hubby wanted the ps3 for the blue ray, to buy a blue ray on its own is actually more expensive. I have also bought some ps3 games as well. I just felt with 3 boys I would getter better value out of the ps3 machine buy purchasing both sorts of games.
