Starting ICSI very soon!

Hi guys!

Well me and DH have decided t take the bull by the horns and start ICSI treatment as soon as possible.

I fly (alone) to Norway on 6th Jan for the initial consultation, treatment plan and prescription.

Then we are hoping within 1 or 2 cycles of that to fly back for 10 days to begin the actual Egg Collection.

A daunting prospect but we want to try this sooner rather than later.

Hey Nat

Go you!!!

I saw your most and i hope you don't mind, just wanted to be a fly on the wall for your ICSI

DH and i are hoping to have our first cycle next year between Feb-Aug as there is no wait for us on NHS, just a case of a) me shedding a few pounds and b) they have enough staff to do the procedure.

Is it the first time you have gone for it?x

Hi rachelle!

Yep this will be our first time!!! DS was conceive very quickly and very naturally but since then we've found out DH has a little trouble with his swimmers!!

So rather than keep on and on trying (it's been a year now) we're going to go for it in 2009 and fingers crossed!

Mind you I won't stop trying to concieve naturally in the meantime, and I would rather lose the money I ahve already paid out on flights etc if it meant I got my BFP on Christmas Day!!!

We are going for ICSI which means that the sperm is put directly into the egg as opposed to IVF in which the egg and sperm are allowed to naturally fertilise.

Totally!

Must admit, DH got his results and he had 1 million and they are okay just not many of them - it could be undescended testicle as a child or some meds he was on but he came off them in August. Waiting on his next SA (why do they put it off when they have it so easy!!) and i would be kinda interested to see how the results go!!

We too are still TTC naturally - it could happen and i did have a chemical in Feb so we are obviously doing something right!

Oooh i'm so keen to know how it all goes for you hun, really am. Plus with ICSI it has a 70% success rate of fertilisation! I know it drops to about 30% success for getting PG but still, at least you know that those little eggies will get fertilised and can be popsicles for future treatment if you decide on number 3, 4 or 5!!!

Is it cheaper for you guys to go abroad rather than at home?

Jon, is it? Very nice chap.

Anyhow, real pleased that you're jumping into it, fingers tightly crossed.

Have they asked for any more tests?
