Ok, questions about Ffion:

She hasnt been wanting a night bottle, but still wakes up for her dummy. is this ok? or should i keep trying to give her milk?
At nursery she is given lunch, she already has breakfast and dinner here. is 3 meals ok? or should i drop one of the home foods?

Questions about Rhys:

When he got home form nursery yesterday he was very tired but i kept him awake until 7, then put him to bed. if i was to let him nap then he would go to bed later. should i let him nap? or not?
Also Rhys is refusing to go to the toilet at nursery, should i tell them to keep insisting it, or tell them to leave it and we'll try again after christmas?
Also, it is Rhys' birthday on Thursday, do i send him to nursery and go to work or shall i say i want the day off and spend it with him? we probably wont be doing anything special as Colin is at work anyway?

Hi girls, I am looking for a good baby light show, you know one that projects images on to the ceiling and all over the room.
My DD had one when she was a baby, I pretty sure it was Tomy made it and it was fab!
So far I have the tomy miracles and milestones star one, the Beanstalk jungle one and I have just bought the Tomy winnie the pooh one and so far they are all pretty rubbish!

The pooh bear one has lovely lullabies but the projected images are just in a little circle that doesnt fill the room. The other tomy one is pretty much the same and the beanstalk one is noisy and has a horrble tune!

Do any of you know a good one?!:hug:

Morgan's been so restless during the night for the last few weeks, and I was lucky if I was getting 3-4 hours of sleep a night and I was really starting to struggle.... She'd start fidgeting from about 3am and would keep waking herself up every 20-30 mins until she woke up properly anytime from 5am - 6am!! :dohh:

But last night, she had her "top-up" bottle and went to bed at 10.30pm, started stirring about 6am so I gave her her dummy, she went straight back to sleep! She finally woke up at 8.15am!!!!! YAY!!!! :happydance:

She's never slept in that late before, and I think she only woke up then because Leigh had left for work and she heard the front door shut!!

My God do I feel better this morning... can't remember the last time I had so much sleep in one go!!

And when we got up, it was snowing, and looked so lovely with the xmas tree next to the window! She had a bottle, the snow stopped, so we both wrapped up warm and had a walk round to the shop, come back, and now she's napping again!! And it's snowing again!!!

I don't expect this to become a regular occurence, but at least I've managed to catch up on some sleep!!

YAYYYYY!!!!!!

Or is there worse to come lol. The last few nights have been a nightmare. Kaya's taking a good half hour to fall asleep at night, now that she can get out of the bed as soon as we leave the room she's up. Nothing about her routine has changed and she's fine right up until the end of the bedtime story. From that point on it's full on screaming unless we either lie down with her or stand right next to the bed. She's also waking during the night again. Last night I spent more than an hour just putting her back in bed. I ended up feeding her (stupid I know but it was 1:30am and I needed to sleep) and she slept for about 3 hours when she came through to our room and into our bed. I woke up at 6:30am with a child attached to my breast, don't know how long we were like that

I really don't know what to do. I thought it could be teething, a cold etc. But she's fine during the day and at night she's fine as soon as she gets her own way.

If she's tired and doesn't get her own way she throws a tantrum - flops onto the ground crying. She's even started crying as soon as you say 'no' to her. She's quite bad when she's tired, but brilliant when she's not. :dohh:

HELP!!!!

Did you baby get them?

Because we changed Rylee's doc. after her 6 month shots, and I asked the new doc if we could pre make her 8 month apt. and they said "No, they don't get them at 8 months... they get them at 9 months"

So I called back when Rylee was 9 months old and made an apt. to get them and I went in and everything.... well she didn't end up getting them because they said that they got them at 12 months. I was confused... VERY, and we left.

Then we get home, I call my mom and she says to double check.
Which is what I did today.

I called and asked at what ages do babies get shots at. 9 months was one of them so I made a apt. for tomorrow..... then they call back saying that she has already had them?!?!

1st I get told they don't get any more until 12months, then I get told she has already had them. When I know she hasn't.

again, Did you LO get them at 9 months?

and what do I do? I have called twice and argued about this with them and they keep telling me the same thing. Changing doc. is not an option. This is the last one in out area.

Some of you may remember I posted about Daisy being grumpy through the day, so i was considering waking her up earlier from her sleep to feed her.

I mentioned this to my health visitor today and she said to moves her on to hungry baby milk. I then told her that she had been on it for a couple of weeks now and it wasn't making any difference.

So she told me to give her a rusk! I couldn't believe it, I am totally confused about the whole weaning thing anyway but this has totally thrown me!

I came home and researched it online and it came up with younger mums saying that you should never feed babys rice or rusks til 5-6 months., but older mums and grandmothers say that it's fine and they fed all their babies on rice and rusks from around 2 months and that there is no scientific evidence that it will do them any harm as most adults today were brought up this way.

So I phoned my mum and she did give me and my brother and sisters rusk from around 2 months and so did OH's mum do it with her 2.

Even hearing all this I have decided not to give Daisy a rusk til at least 3 months anyway (this is the age I weaned my 1st daughter)
I have decided to change her milk to Cow & Gate though, this was advised by HV too, and seems to be the safer option!

I just have a heap of questions I'd love to get some feedback on. I've got a 2 week old bub and starting to get a feel for this motherhood business, and just starting to wondering how other mothers deal with the day-to-day responsibilities and choices we have to make.

How often does your baby feed? My little man is breastfed and at the moment feeds 2 hourly around the clock... I'm starting to get a bit tired!

How much housework do you get done in a day? I'm really trying to stay on top of things but I cant believe how long everything takes now! And then, also, with 2 hourly feeds, I need to take time out for myself (like right now) but then if I do this, I dont get everything done and before I know it my hubby is home and I feel like I've done nothing!

If baby is asleep and then he's obviously done a poo... would you change him or leave him till he wakes up?

How many changes of clothes does you baby go through in a 24 hour period? At the moment Jasper manages to throw up, wee, poo or just feel a bit damp for no obvious reason, needing to be changed about 4-10 times a day.

How long should a newborn be awake for at a time? While normally he's only awake for an hour or less, sometimes he gets really upset and wont settle back to sleep properly for up to 4 hours! Is this too long? Can he make himself sick if he doesn't sleep?

How involved is baby's daddy I feel like my hubby only really spends time with his son when he's clean, happy, dressed and fed... and when any of those change he hands him back! Then if he's trying to settle Jasper and Jasper is crying and crying and so he's passed back to me and almost immediately stops crying, my hubby seems to offended and cant work out why baby just responds better to me... but... of course... I'm the one who's with him all day and all night... I'm worried that he doesn't really know his daddy well enough to settle for him.... and I dont want to be the 'favourite'.

Does your baby know how to settle himself to sleep? Jasper practically only falls asleep in my arms. If I put him down while he's still even just half awake he'll fully wake himself up and start crying - he needs to be in a deep sleep before I pop him into his own bed. Also, who lets baby sleep in bed with them? Jasper tends to wake up unsettled at about 5:30am every morning and wont go back down into his own bed, no matter how long I try (I've spent hours settling him to sleep and gently putting him down to have him wake up 5 minutes later crying!!!) Should I just toughen up with him? But he's just so little and I dont want him to think I dont love him!

How often do you bath bub? Jasper doesn't like the bath much at all and can be really difficult to bath so I dont really like bathing him, I just give him a bit of a wipe down with a damp cloth at night and then probably only bath him every 3rd day.

... hmm.... that'll do for now... I think I probably have more questions, but thats enough for now!

I want to establish a bedtime routine, but Ava doesn't go to bed at a set time. It's between 8:30 and 10:30. I do try to put her in bed at 8:30 most nights but alot of times she'll tend to cry and want to eat again. I'm not doing controlled crying coz she will stay down when she's ready to go to bed.

Now I am thinking can I love another child the way I do Jess? I know that ladies with several kiddies will say you will love and treat them equally but it's still a big concern for me. I love Jessica so much could I really love another equally?

Came out and had a bloody ticket so I phoned them ready to go mad. The woman asked me what the stated reason on the ticket is- theres a list and tick boxes. The prat that issued it hadn't ticked one so, apparently, the ticket is invalid I just have to post them the ticket to prove it.
I'me still mad, they need more than 2 baby spaces, but at least I don't have to pay £50

Ok, so this is probably going to sound stupid, but being a first time Mum I'm quite clueless.

For when LO is born, she will be in our room in a moses basket. Is the following ok?

Moses basket on stand with mattress and fitted sheet over mattress.

LO in vest, sleepsuit and sleeping bag (or swaddling robe depending on how she likes to sleep).

Does she need anything else? I take it when they're in a sleeping bag or swaddling robe then they're warm enough? No flat sheets or blankets until they're older, right?

So Bren was suffering with what I am 99.9% sure was baby excema. His skin was very rough and scaly. I tried all different things and finally found something that has worked. Dream Cream from Lush. OMG, his skin is now super baby soft all over, no more scaly, rough skin. It tuned it around super fast as well. I remembered that when I worked at Lush that many customers with excema swore by it, and so I thought that since Bren is 6 months, I would give it a go.

So all week ive been walking Rhys past the nursery, hyping him up for going today  we got up early, got dressed and set off. he seemed really happy and excited.

i took them inside and he immedietly recognised what was going to happen (he had an hour there on his own last week as a taster) and started clinging to my leg, pouting lol.

anyway i took Ffion to the baby room and got her settled in then quickly walked past Rhys, waving goodbye as i rushed out.

i went to pick them up at 1.30 and when Rhys saw me he burst out crying, he was so happy to see me! apparently he had been a good boy all day, eaten all his breakfast and had 2 helpings of his lunch, and played well with the other children. the staff said he was really clingy for about an hour after i left and he did cry a little bit but apart from that he's been fine!

Ffion was a different story, she had been crying for most of the morning, looking around for me. she went down in the cot to sleep at her normal time, drank her bottle and ate half her lunch which i was pleased about.

its really nice that they give you a sheet with what time they did stuff and what toys they played with etc so i know what theyve done all morning.

so overall not a bad first day but hopefully the kids will settle into it and enjoy themselves a bit more.

Grace has always had cold hands (obviously they are warm sometimes lol) but most of the time even if it's really warm her hands can be freezing and sometimes they feel clammy and sweaty even if they aren't warm.

I posted a thread a while back about my friend who was desperate for a baby but her OH isn't ready for one just yet (she's 19) She has just quit uni and moved back home. Her OH who is from London is quitting his job to come up here and live with her and they are looking for a flat. The other day they came to mine and played with Grace and my friend said depending how they were with Grace they would think about starting their own family. But yesterday I got a Facebook message off her OH saying how he isn't ready for a family but he doesn't know how to tell her. I said to talk to her and he did but I think she is still dead set on it.

Anyway I was wondering that maybe I could let her look after Grace maybe once a week. That way I'll be able to get things done and she can see what it's really like to look after a baby and it might change her mind. Only I don't know whether it's a good idea as obviously she has no experience with babies and Grace is very demanding and there are certain things you need to know to keep her happy! Although I know everyone has to start somewhere.

What do you girls think?

Just for a laugh, maybe because he needed to make sure that mummy and daddy never ever take their eyes off him again, our little man had whats being...

Just for a laugh, maybe because he needed to make sure that mummy and daddy never ever take their eyes off him again, our little man had whats being described by the doctors as a 'sleep apnea episode'.

Basically, 2 nights ago, around midnight, I was finally ready to sleep and as I slipped into bed I had one last little look at my baby and I noticed he was a funny colour around the eye brows and lips - I thought it was the weird light of the lamp, so I picked him up to check it and he was totally limp and not moving in my arms. I called out and my husband took him and put him on the floor to see if he was breathing - which he wasn't - while I called 000 and incoherantly screamed at the poor operator that my baby stopped breathing.

A second later my husband ran out the door with the baby and I followed, we got in the car and were at the hospital in about 4 minutes - breaking every possible road rule on the way. In the car, though he was still unresponsive bubba was moving his hand a little a breathing lightly.

By the time we got to the hospital his colour returned, he was awake and over the next few minutes became more and more alert - until he started crying, which was the most beautiful sound i'd ever heard.

We spent about 20 hours in hospital under close observation, but when everything was perfect and they said he was remarkably healthy we were discharged with a new toy - a breathing monitor thats attached 24/7 that ticks for each breath and alarms if he stops breathing - and also we've been given infant CPR training.

I'm so glad he's fine and I'm starting to feel human again, obviously I didn't sleep at all the night in hospital, so last night, after massive sleep deprivation I was beside myself, I couldn't even look at my baby without crying because he scared me... today we're having love and cuddles like nothing ever happened, which is great!

We also learnt lots of things while we were in hospital, not just CPR, but we now know that, while it was great that we can get to the hospital in about 4 minutes, the proper procedure is to call 000, stay on the line and wait for the ambulance - which applies to any situation.

Anyway, it just feels a bit better to debrief after all that, thanks!

I get nervous because he will pull himself on to the couch to stand and lets go and 5 seconds later... bonk :dohh: It seems like today he is doing better with trying to lower himself down when he is done standing but I know it's bound to happen again. Just wandered if anyone knows where i can buy a cot divider from?
Ive tried looking on mothercare website and babiesrus and cant seem to find one.........unless im just not writing the right thing in the search box!!!!

My LO is only 9 weeks old but is just about to big for his moses basket so i have no choice but to put him in his cot....although it does scare me a little so thought if i had a cot divider he wouldnt be able to wriggle under the covers too much.

I know that a BF babies nappy should be a yellowy colour. Olivers has been yellow so far. But last couple of days it has been a green colour. I have tried looking this up and all I can find is that it is ok for a formula fed babies colour to change to green, if they have had a change in formula.
Should I get this checked out, or is it completely normal for it to change from time to time?

Dillan was constipated when he was on sma gold the health visitor said its because they have put more protien in the milk and its making babies...

Dillan was constipated when he was on sma gold the health visitor said its because they have put more protien in the milk and its making babies constipated. So I changed his milk to cow and gate, it was great at first he was back to normal. Then he went 3 days before he pooped again. It was not really hard but it was firmer to start then got runnier. Today is now 3 days again and still not pooped. I have been giving him water and I have even tried it with orange juice in like the midwife said to try, but he tends to just sick it back up.
I just read on the internet that some babies can go 4 days without pooping. Is this right?
He was really sicky yesterday and today. His tummy feels quite hard.
he is still feeding ok and doesn't really seem in pain.
What should I do?
Do you think give it til tommorrow morning and then go to the doctors or see the health visitor.
Or should I be doing something now?
Not sure what to do.
Luv Cheryl xxx

Update

I read on the internet, rub there tummy and move there legs like they are riding a bike. You can also hold the legs up to help them go.
I did all these for about 10 mins and it worked he pooped.
He is really settled now, I bet he feels loads better.

I didnt think it was possible to be happy at 5.30am!! But here I am, feeling like such a proud Mummy as I woke to Teddy with his first tooth poking through his gums at 4 months 3 weeks and 5 days old, AND he just picked up his dummy and popped it in his mouth like it was the easiest most normal thing. And yesterday he had his first solids. All of a sudden he's growing up! And I quote Daddy this morn "wow, all of a sudden he looks and feels massive!"

I nearly cried when I felt the tooth. And now I'm just so happy - we only had one evening where he cried. (Though I was wondering why he kept waking in the night to play and wanted to be held a lot, maybe I have my answer!!) What a good boy:cloud9:

Oh I am so happy, :happydance: my little girl has finally learnt how to roll from her front to her back.

Erin has always been very lazy and not interested in moving at all when on the floor. She loves to sit up, play with things in her hands and watch everything that is going on. She has always hated being on her tummy. The hv says there is nothing wrong with her she is just a lazy, contented baby.

But everyday we have been putting her on her tummy for a few minutes, for the last week she has been lasting a bit longer without crying and even got a smile out of her yesterday. But today she rolled over (out of frustration the first time) and then smiled. I put her back on her front and she did it again. :happydance: I am so happy - my little girl is growing up. xx

A few weird things i noticed about tom - does anyone else's Lo do these things?

tom has discovered that he can scratch things and it makes a noise!! He only does it with his right hand tho - and he will scratch anything over and over and over......including his right thigh.......:dohh: He is drawing blood. i am starting to worry that he might not have any sensation there - but I didnt think his SB would affect anything above his knee:(

He kicks and kicks and kicks REALLY hard when ever he is on his back. He has a trance like look on his face and he chews like he is eating something he has always done this and again, due to his SB i always saw this as a sign his legs were ok - but is it?? He is getting cuts on the back of his ankles from doing it and when i cleaned them with a baby wipe - he didnt flinch. So i thought i'd see if he felt pain if i put an alcohol wipe on it (i felt so cruel doing it) - but again no flinch.....

He makes gasping noises in his sleep like a child does when it has cried and cried and cried and is trying to calm down. Sometimes he can do it every breath in!

I dont know if i am being paranoid or not, so please tell me if you child does this...

Thank you

For the first night ever Jacob spent the whole night in his own cot, he had fallen asleep with me on the sofa so I grabbed his gro bag and put that on him and he slept from 11 - 8 (waking up at 1 and 5 for his bottle). Im so proud of my little man!
It was lonely without him though :(

As the title says really...

I would like to get Poppy to take a dummy, just so I can space out her feeds a little and keep her occupied when I can't get round to feeding her straight away for whatever reason but she just keeps spitting it out.

I have tried the CLN ones and the Avent ones and, so far, no joy. Did anyone else have the same problem and, if so, what did you do to encourage your LO to take it :baby:?

Thanks xx
