Stupid question, but can you booby feed AND bottle feed formula providing the period of time between each feed is long enough (I read that breast milk and formula can curdle in babies tummy if fed too close together)

For example, I want to breast feed her through out the day and then maybe at night bottle feed her, so hubby can join in too.I will also try expressing so he can help, but my sister couldnt produce enough to express and feed her son so I just wondered if formula and breastmilk can be fed
-not mixed together lol. forgive my stupidness, i have a thousand questions now the time is near!
Anyone in the 2nd or 3rd Tri that can provide me with hope??? :dohh:

Since our first scan, i straight away uploaded the pics to my comp and put them on my myspace and facebook profile, oh never bothered so i put them on his myspace profile about 2 weeks ago.

He said to me yesterday ' how do u delete pics off myspace?' and i was like 'why?' and he said ' Because i don't want them on there, i don't want all people from college asking questions all the time about the baby'

Then he deleted them so no-one could see! I said Matt they are going to find out eventually and he said ' yeah i know i just don't want everyone asking me questions all the time'

I feel a bit hurt by this? I feel as if he doesn't want everyone to know?

Like he said to me yesterday, these lads from football had said sometihng to him, convo went like this.

OH Mates ' So your gonna be a dad ent ya'
OH ' yeah'
MATES ' you sound ashamed'
OH ' well yeah i am'

he stopped there and i said what?? ur ashamed?? and he changed it suddenly and went oh no no, i said im ashamed of how it happened, not the baby' ect ect. I was just like :S ?? I dont get it.

When hes with me hes really happy ( or so he says ) but all these things hes telling me about his friends is making me feel like he is ashamed?

Im so confused :( :dohh:.. ive heard so many reviews and opinions about different things i don't know what to believe.

I have been given a brand new crib, full with cot bumper, blankets, drape ect the lot.

The crib looks like this

http://www.mothercare.com/Mothercare...61031&mcb=core

It is quite a bit bigger than the moses basket.

Is it safe to use this crib from birth?? I've heard cot bumpers shouldnt be used for chidlren under one year, then ive heard that they are ok? I'm so confused. Obviously buying a moses basket is more expense which we can't really afford with everything else to buy, but if there is any risk i would rather be safe than sorry. The crib is so beautiful and i would love to use it but of course safety is the best option.

Any advice pleaseeeeee.. x

Also, what else do they do? I saw one at 8 weeks and they just filled in paperwork, did a blood test, urine test and took my blood pressure. I've got another one tomorrow (I'm 15 weeks now)

Just wondered if anyone knows what they'll do tomorrow, then at later ones?
Thanks x

Hi ladies,

I'm not sure if this has been asked already and I would love the input from moms who already have two or more kids... I have a son who is the light of my life. My DH and I love him to pieces. As far as kids go, we couldn't ask for a better one. Well, DH is all worried that there's no way our next kid will measure up or that we'll be able to love/like him as much as our other son. I tell him he's being silly but secretly I do wonder... I know I will love them both equally but I think DH is worried about not LIKING them the same, and I guess I am too. Any thoughts?

Yep, I'm new on here and it seems I don't want to shut up! lol

Anyhow, I've been having an issue and wondered if anyone else on here was experiencing it - apologies in advance because it might go a bit tmi soon!

I had a loop or LEEP several years ago (about 3/4) to remove some cancerous cells from my cervix wall.

However now I keep having the odd bleed. This has happened 3 times so far and driving me crazy!!!

I have a bleed of fresh blood when I wipe (sorry!) but then nothing, I'm not bleeding as such. Then it goes to old blood the day after, and then a yucky discharge (apologies again, I'm not going to make any friends here am I? lol).

It's driving me mad as the medics won't confirm it is definately coming from there, however I've had 3 scans and they've advised that there is no blood anywhere near Peanut. Unfortunately they can't stitch the area due to me now being preggers, so it's a bit of a catch 22 situation.

I'm convinced the scar is opening up, bleeding and then trying to heal again.

I'm currently debating buying shares in G string pantyliners, have one on all the time just for added security.

So is anyone else suffering with this?

Any thoughts, advice would be appreciated. Gaylex.

Please be totally honest with me if you think im over reacting here.

I have been with my bf for 5 years and a year ago we had a bit of a bad patch, I just got really bored and wanted to go out all the time behaved like a bit of a bitch really and he was totally devastated begged me to stay with him and not to finish things. In the end I gave in and gave it a second chance we moved in together at the end of may and everything has been good until pretty much when I found out I was pregnant.

Over the last few months things have got quite bad (in my eyes) a few of his friends have split up with their partners and just want to go out all the time, or sit round at home playing on the wii. Anyway he is virtually out all the time at his friends, and wants to go out every weekend and leave me by myself. We were supposed to go out for a meal tonight but instead he said we'd save money and get a take away and then an hour ago has upped and left to go round his mates !!!

I am sick of it, I don't mind him going out but not every bloody night especially when I can't really go out, he even wants to leave me on my own on new years eve. We have had quite a few 'chats' about this and he seems to think ive lost my mind.

I feel really trapped, if i was pregnant id either go out all the time myself or I really would of told him to do one and moved back to my parents. Obviously I can't do either now and its really, really getting me down.

What can I do ? Its like he is obsessed with now being with his friends 24/7 :hissy:

I know I'm going to come across as an evil B***** but my MIL is driving me crazy. She is so lovely, she has been buying things for my little man since she found out about the pregnancy, has sent an immense amount of baby clothes including lots of hand knit items and is going mad about him, but it just feels so overwhelming! My OH and her werent in touch for a good few years and so I've only known her about 8 months and she phones up for chats all the time and and is constantly giving me "advice" and telling me about whatever she is knitting for "our baby" (her words) or what she has bought that day. I feel like I am going insane! All we talk about is the baby, what pram will be best for him, whether the mattress is good enough, if I will be breastfeeding (which I must do) and how will be best to home cook all the babies food. :hissy: She's now got it into her head that I will be like her and won't go back to work afterwards - apparently it doesnt matter about money, I won't want to leave him. Motherhood is all about sacrifice after all...

Crazy hormones, make me want to scream out loud at her...:hissy::hissy:
Oh and its also good that I am craving the smell of washing up liquid - keeps me doing the dishes...

While at the in-laws for Thanksgiving dinner I had an early spurt of super-parenting!

I sat at the end of the table (so I didn't get my prego butt trapped behind it) and while everyone was bustling around getting dishes to the table I zoned out of the conversation and looked slightly to my right...down a hallway where nothing was really going on...EXCEPT.....

DH's sister's youngest (who is 2) had a bottle of pills spilled all over the floor. I screamed "Holy Shit" and jumped up and grabbed the bottle and threw it to DH and got all the pills away from the kid. DH looked at the bottle and it was diazepam, That could have really hurt him, or killed him. Why is it that I was the only one that saw it? Well I think that taught the in-laws a valuable lesson in medicine storage. The little one is fine and no one got hurt.

So, how was your Thanksgiving?

Dieting whilst Pregnant

I'm just watching the Wright Stuff and one of the topics is about dieting whilst pregnant.

I have to admit, as a woman who was previously quite toned and slim(ish), this is something that I had considered, then thought better of it. I've put on about 2 stone in this pregnancy and I can't say I'm happy about it, as I'm not used to being this big - my whole appearance has changed, facial features, the lot. I didn't really start to put on weight til about 20 weeks but it's really piled on quite quickly.

However tempting it has been to even try some kind of diet - actually, many of the callers on the Wright Stuff this morning have called it a Healthy Eating Plan - I don't think I'd be able to stick to it anyway. I've never had so many 'hungry moments' in my life!

I thought I could combat some of the excessive weight gain by going on the exercise bike or swimming or walking, but due to severe sciatica, I've not even been able to do that.

I also wondered if women on here think that we have some very unrealistic public images of pregnancy?

Nicole Kidman:

Victoria Beckham:

Nicole Richie:

I have to admit that seeing these women does make me feel like a heffer sometimes, but then I'm forgetting that they also have an army of chefs and nutritionists catering for them.

Has anyone here dieted whilst pregnant or felt very concious about their weight gain?

Sorry this is a bit of a rant. i've just got off the phone to my sister in law and mother in law who are both off shopping today.
My SIL wanted to know if there was anything we would like for the baby and mentioned she would like to buy him a little sleeping bag, I was really pleased and told about one that I really love in Mothercare - only to be told she refuses to buy any that aren't Grobags so if I want one I've got to choose on of those. She then went on to lecture me about what size and tog she is going to buy me and how half the things I was planning to get for my little boy would be useless :(
Then my MIL came on the phone and told me point blank that she would not be buying any baby things for us for Christmas (even though that's specifically what we asked for - and really need). We could choose things for ourselves or not get anything at all!
I've been stuck at home on bed rest for the past 3 months, and feel like I've lost enough of my freedom without having people starting to tell me what I am allowed to 'want' as presents for myself and my baby!!!!!!!

Don't reach your arms above your head, the umbilical cord could wrap around the baby's neck.

You're carrying all out in the front! You're having a Girl!

You're carrying all out in the front! You're having a Boy!

It's your first? You'll go early then.

It's your first? You'll go late then.

Heartburn? Baby will be born with a full head of hair.

Anyone have any others to add to the list?

However everything is just sooo expensive and although me and my OH have good jobs, we cant afford to buy everything new, as we have to save for me to have a year off work to have money to live off as the SMP wont be enough and I wont get anything the last 3 months!

What did everyone do? Did any one buy everything new? If you bought second hand what wouldn't you recommend second hand?

Hi everyone :) I'm 23 weeks pregnant now and I am allergic to tree nuts. Obviously I avoid them like the plague but sometimes I do find myself with hives, etc. because foods are contaminated, and we sell a hazelnut product at my work.

My reactions so far have been only hives, this feeling of being hot around my neck, in my mouth, itchy eyes/ears/skin, blotchy skin, runny nose, diarrhea.. and I was told by my doctor to just take benadryl if I experience a reaction. Is it still safe during pregnancy? I think I'm having a reaction right now :(

 Hi all.
Ever since I was 8 years old I have had a very bad stammer/stutter, I have had speech therapy for it but it hasn't helped at all.
There is no known cure so it's something I will have to deal with for the rest of my life, it gets very soul destroying aswell as frustrating at times.
Not being able to ask for things in shops, restaurants, find it difficult to make new friends etc.
:sad1::cry::sad1:

I love the name Jake but I seem to stammer a lot more on the letter J.
I have told everyone that my baby boy will be called Jake but every time I try to tell that to someone I end up stammering really badly and I get angry and upset that I can't even say the name I want to call my little boy. :hissy: :shy:
](*,)

Luckily my family and friends will understand the reason for the name change, I hope so anyway!
I have spoken to my Mum about it and she has agreed it might be better to change the name.

I don't seem to stammer as much on the letters A, B and D.
So I was wondering if you could suggest any boys names, (unusual if possible) that begin in the letters A, B or D.

Many thanks :hugs:

You are mostly ready to be a parent, though you could be better prepared.
If you had a kid tomorrow, things might be difficult at first - but you could pull through.

You don't have to be an ideal parent, but if your life was in better order, it would help.
Make yourself a plan of how you'll raise and pay for a kid. You'll feel better if you have all your ducks in a row.

If you're already a parent, you're probably doing a good job.
Even if things aren't perfect, you're making the best of it.

You are way too non conformist, independent, and sassy to be an ideal retro wife.
You may be so wild that you aren't even considering marriage!
Good thing we don't live in the 1930s anymore!

Yesterday morning on the train to work, I was approaching my stop, which was also the last stop for the train and I said "excuse me" to the woman sitting next to me. We were sat at a bank of 4 seats, with a table in the middle. The woman looked at me and huffed and puffed before eventually turning herself sideways and left me about a 30cm gap to try and squeeze myself through.

So I said to her, "sorry, but I think you're being a bit optimistic, i can't squeeze past that gap."

Do you know this *$%^ing woman would not move???? So I made sure I really pushed my arse RIGHT up in her face and took AGES to get out from my window seat. Then i turned around and asked why she couldn't have just got up and that she was being really selfish. Then she had the NERVE to start arguing back to me so i told her where to go and that i wasn't prepared to have an argument with her at that time of the morning.

So as I'm walking away, i hear her mutter "well you should have got up at the last stop"

That was the final straw! I blew up! I told her how selfish and inconsiderate she was, and did she think i was just fat or was she thick or something? And more to the point, I'll get up when I'm good and ready and not when it's convenient for HER!

Of course I'd managed to accrue an audience by now, but most of them were looking at her in disgust and a woman standing next to me said "I agree with you, that's disgusting behaviour!"

Dumb skank was lucky i didn't need to throw up, or I'd have had no problem giving her some extra breakfast. I was so pissed by the time I got to work!
I hope she comes across someone with a stink attitude like that if she ever gets knocked up.:gun:

I'm nice and calm now though...

 After the morning I've just had I really dont know how Im going to cope with three children under 4 (1 with special needs too)

My son woke me up at 5am, I had only been asleep for 4 hours due to painfull hips and trips to the loo!
He's still full of cold as am I, so decided not to send him to nursery (wishing I had now)
Then my daughter got up and promptly begins tearing the house apart!

Thought we could all have a nice soak in the bath (they love that) but whilst I was dressing my son my darling daughter thought it would be a good idea to take off her freshly dirtied nappy and smear poo all over the wall, sofa, floor and rug :dohh:
So back in the bath she went, for the next hour Im on my hands and knee's scrubbing sh*t off everything. No fun at the best of times let alone when your 35weeks pregnant with a chest infection!
All the time both of them are crying and climbing all over me :hissy:
I just want to crawl under a rock and  for at least a week.
What the hell am I going to do when there is a newborn in the mix too?????

Sorry for the rant

How many of you was/are learning to drive whilst pregnant?

I started my lessons 2 weeks ago, ive now had 2 lessons, and having one hour lesson week untill i pass.

I was speaking to my instructor on the first lesson, and he said it was impossible for me to pass before the baby is here, because during the test you will have to do an emergency stop, and they don't like you doing this when pregnant.

I was a bit gutted because i was really hoping to get it done and dusted before baby came, so i know we've got transport, especially because i may have to have a cesearan, it will be quite a while after till i can get back on the road.

Did anyone actually pass whilst pregnant? I proberly won't even be ready for my test when still being pregnant knowing me .

Well I had my check up today and it went...oddly.

I was originally supposed to be 23 weeks today.
Then according to our last scan Aedan was measuring a week ahead so I should have been 24 weeks (nearly 25).

So when the nurse practitioner came in she said I looked big...huge compared to when she saw me four weeks ago. After feeling my uterus she told me I am measuring at 29 weeks so we have to have a scan next week and the Glucose Tolerance Test or Blood Glucose Test.

She said measuring this far along could be one of these things:

A very large baby

Too much amniotic fluid

Gestational Diabetes

Aedan could have been stretched WAAAAY out when she measured

I guess we will find out next week. I have never heard of anyone jumping this far ahead in four weeks time!

I know it's completely out of season for us here in the freezing cold UK, but OH and I are getting married in Mexico in a few weeks, and I don't want to get bitten to death while we're out there! I've heard you should avoid products containing DEET during pregnancy... but it seems to be in just about every one I've seen. Has anyone got any reccommendations as to an alternative that works please? :)

okay, I know the trend with us pregnant ladies is usually have a whinge about the OH's, but shall we have a thread dedicated to how blummin' lovely they are???

I'll start...

Since we found out that we have a Very Little Pickle on the way OH has been so gorgeous...

He has made sure the washing basket is empty by the end of the weekends

He has been cooking heaps more

He always asks me how I'm feeling and how the VLP is doing

Always runs to give me a big cuddle if I look like I'm going to  (again)

Yesterday on his way to work (he starts later than me) he called to say 'I love you'

On Sunday he gave me a card saying how much he loves me and our life together and how happy we THREE will be...

awwwwwwww... right before I well up again.. your turn!!!!

I didn't really know where to post this, and even if it's a bit early.. it's one of the worries on my mind I guess and I wanted to see what you all had to say.

I'm Catholic & so is my boyfriend, we're having a baby but we're not married. We both attended Catholic schools and want to have our baby baptized, attend a Catholic school, go to church, etc. But because my priest is VERY old fashioned (and a bit scary.. okay A LOT scary and sort of mean?), I won't even go to my church now that I'm pregnant, lol. So my boyfriend and I are on the lookout for a new church with a younger or more liberal-minded priest.. but we're still worried that baby won't get baptized.

Anyone? This is important to us, and our families also.

At work I get hit on frequently. I think it's VERY disrespectful because I'm pregnant and I definitely don't feel like I'm in my "prime" right now, my hair is uncooperative and my skin gets dry and I feel fat.. and I wear an engagement ring! Okay, so I'm not engaged.. it's just a promise ring. But my boyfriend wants it on my ring finger, and I do too.. and it looks like most peoples' engagement rings I'd say lol.

Anyways if I'm having a good day I successfully ignore the comments and I forget to include ketchup or napkins or give them diet coke instead of regular coke.. but if I'm having a bad day I really have difficulty keeping my mouth shut!! Any advice haha. I told one guy that I had a baby and he went on to tell me that I am a MILF, which I thought was flattering but rude because helloooo I really am somebody's mother, haha.

After reading a nice thread in the Baby & Toddler forum - "Is your OH a Good Daddy?" I thought I would ask how everyones OH has been supporting them during their pregnancy so far? Tim is really great and does alot for me, especially when I have gotten into bed in the evening and then need a glass of water or something, he will get it for me (he knows it will end up taking me 5 minutes to prop myself up and out of bed so figures it will save time!) He is really into the antenatal classes (big surprise to me) and really seems to get into them, he says he has learnt so much. He loves baby shopping and will drive to the store to get my chocolate or iceblocks when I am craving them! I can't wait to see how he is with LO, cuz I know he will be great!

After reading almost everywhere that the hospital won't let you home unless the baby is in a car seat and also that you can't buy second hand car seats, I am starting to worry a bit. You see, the OH and I don't drive, we don't own a car and hardly ever travel in one, so weren't planning on buying a new car seat, just a second hand one if any for the odd occasion we might get a lift somewhere. I don't fancy paying £100+ for something I will never use! :hissy:
Am I going to have to? Is there nothing else we could bring the baby home in? Obviously, babies safety comes before saving money so we would buy if there are no other options.
What are any of you other non drivers out there planning on doing/did you do?

Ok so got a letter through the post this morning saying that my blood group has been confirmed as A- as i will need to have the Anti-D injection at 28weeks then again after labour.

Sooooo the thing that is puzzling me is that my mum had the same thing with me and was given the injection at the birth of me also. I thought she had this injection though as i had been found to be A+ and her A- hmmmmmm.

I know its nothing to worry about but all the info they have sent me has just given me something else to worry about as i have to go straight to the hospital and inform them within 72hours if i have any abdominal injuries, bleeding etc as i will need a shot of the injection then also.

I dont need to be given things to worry about, i am a born worrier anyways hahaha

Hey guys

Im curious to know what happens next after the 20 week scan, i had mine about 3 weeks ago and then had a follow up appointment with the midwife, As far as i know there are no more scans now, you just continue to see the midwife - is that right?

I have just moved into a new area so only registered with the new doctor last week, so havent had my booking in appointment or been assigned to a new midwife yet, my last midwife told me my next appointment would be in about 5 weeks time. Also if we dont get another scan, how do they know which position the baby is lying in - like if its breech or not?

Thanks

hey girlies,

i was wondering what would count as dangerously reduced movements, i know that obv reduced movements is an individual thing cos it depends on how much u felt the baby move before but i wondered when it became a serious problem

so, last week i went into hospital cos my baby hadnt been moving much for a few days, they put me on the monitor and said everything was fine and she was just having a lazy day, but the problem is, she still hasnt moved much since then, so can she have a lazy week? and how long can it go on until it is a problem?

i am debating whether to go to the hospital again but we will have to get taxi there and back and we are poor, obv if it is dangerous for the baby i will go but if i will just get put on the monitor again id rather stay home

what do u all think?
thanks

can you let me know if this letter comes accros rude? i need to get my neighbors to stop parking outside of my house so that when i have my home birth theres access for an ambulance should it be needed.

----------------------------------------------------------------
To whom it may concern,

My names molly and I live at 6 Thompson street, im writing to you because I need to respectfully ask you(and your guests) not to park outside my house from now until around the 7th of December.

My reasons for this is im about to have my baby which I will be having at home (so if you hear any screaming my partners not murdering me please don’t call the police :-D) I need to ensure that there is a parking space outside my house incase something goes wrong and I need to be emergency transfers to hospital via ambulance. To put it bluntly extra minutes spent knocking on peoples doors asking for cars to move could be a danger to me and my babies life.

Also the midwifes have to carry a lot of equipment when they attend homebirths, its both unfair and unsafe to ask a female to walk halfway down an unfamiliar street in potentially the early hours of the morning.

I would be insanely grateful if you could avoid parking out side of my house for these reasons I hope you don’t think that im being rude in any way I thought it better to write a quick note than bang on your doors at 4am begging you to move your cars J

Thank you so much for your time and my number is ****** if you want to discuss this in any way.

Thanks again

Molly and James at number 6 thompson.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

thank you!!

I know a lot of you have a Wii Fit, so thought i'd ask...does anyone 'play' it while pregnant? We got it months ago but i was always nervous about getting on it, as it will just tell me i am getting fatter  and i was already so self conscious about the weight gain from pregnancy.

Anywho...today i figured what the heck...i'll jump on it, it'll be nice to see it say "you lost 20lbs!!!!" in a month or so when i have the baby .

I haven't talked to my OB about exercising...tbh she wants me on bed rest...but i've felt loads better the past month and have been off my feet more often than not.

Is there anything i should avoid doing while pregnant? I don't think i'll do a lot of the strength training exercises like pushups and those things...but what about the yoga poses? I'm scared to really streeeeeetch my body as i am not sure what a lot of stretching could do (if anything)? I'm sticking to doing the basic activities the Wii Fit has to offer but want to get an idea of what i should avoid!

When I was about two months along, I graduated from college and baby was with me on the podium. :amartass:

And when I'm five months, baby-in-belly will go along with me to San Francisco for holiday shopping :plane:

EDIT: let us know about anything you'll remember doing while pregnant, perhaps things that you did for the first time. They don't have to be "fun" per se.
