Basically because he asked me what my finger size was randomly (i didn't suspect) and I said they're short and chubby :dohh: turns out they aint! So we got it resized at argos as it was cheapest but they made it to thin at the back and it cracked (9 carrat white gold) and they "fixed it" but it is SO weak that I can barely wear it because i'm terrified it will snap again and when I got it back i didnt notice it had another crack at the other side of the circle (under the diamond) ... it wont break because its supported by the diamond but it scrapes my finger :nope: Does anyone think this is fixable, we don't want to get a new one just because the idiots couldn't downsize it properly because it has such sentimental value :shrug:
Any advice or help or recommendations on who could fix it and possibly make the band stronger would be soooo appreciated! The hotel Atlantica sungarden for the wedding in the gazebo overlooking the sea - (picture below) i have to decide on my decor i want yet - we will be staying at this hotel too for 9 nights flying out 16th october

We are using medweds to orgainise it all and they are at the moment confirming the time on the 22nd october our prefered time is 1pm

My dress which i got last week which is ivory with black detail - i tried on nearly the whole shop :haha: but loved this as soon as i got it on - i also got £250 worth of free accesories with my dress - i have chosen my tiara and a bracelet but i have to go to bluewater john lewis to view the rainbow club range of shoes to chose a pair

Rus bought my wedding ring off ebay for £350 - its platinum diamond and worth £1100 - such a bargain

My theme will be starfish - my favours reflect this as do the invites

A bit of some background info:

Although this is my wedding journal, I am already married. My husband and I officially tied the knot on July 5, 2011. We were planning to have a wedding around August '11 originally but my family had too many weddings that month. And the most important thing was that my grandmother couldn't be there. (she lives out of the country). So now we have the ball rollin' and things are going according to plan. My grandmother should be arriving around the end of April. My cousin may be coming as well if her work permits her to. So now on to the planning! :happydance: --->

I got engaged back in June, but as yet haven't set a date for the wedding. One of the reasons being I have absolutely no idea where to start!!

1st question:

We want a church wedding and we have a venue in mind for the reception, but we don't live or have any connection to the parish near the reception venue, hence it's a little difficult to get permission to marry there and I can't reconcile the idea of a civil ceremony, I have tried and tried and tried but can't do it. Any ideas about how to get around this?

The reception venue we have in mind is this www.langleycastle.com and the church is a few miles away in Haydon Bridge. We live about an hours drive away in Cumbria.

2nd question:

Assuming we can get permission to marry in the church, do you book church first then reception, or reception first, or do you try and get provisional dates that match and then book both as soon as humanly possible?

3rd question:

We only plan on having about 20 guests made up of very close family and a couple of very close friends.. will this make a church ceremony feel a little odd? Following on from that, I still want to wear my dream dress etc and don't know if that would seem over the top when we don't plan on having a reception in the traditional sense, most likely just a nice private dinner with no formal speeches or cakes that no one eats.

How have you ladies, or how would you tackle not inviting people, some who have been friends for many years? it's not that we don't want to include people, but as soon as you start inviting one set of friends, you can't leave out another, and then the whole thing gets bigger and bigger until you've got well over 150 and the politics of who sits where gets annoying. The whole point of our wedding, as we see it, is to spend the day together, which in my experience of "big" weddings simply does not happen. Do you spend more money on having a party afterwards that has all the same political friendship issues as a traditional wedding reception has or do you just say "tough, it was our wedding" and hope they don't take the hump?

Any advice on these little problems, or any advice generally on planning a small wedding would be appreciated.

Finally getting round to starting my wedding journal. I'm Emily and i'm getting married to a GROOMZILLA!! Seriously :dohh: Me and my other half have been engaged for nearly 3 years, together for 6. We moved into our first house 3 years ago and after 7 months he proposed to me. We decided to wait until I had finished uni before we would set a date BUT a week before my final exam we found out i was expecting LO :haha: So the wedding has been on hold ever since.

So the details so far - We are having a civil ceremony at Peckforton Castle in Cheshire followed by a wedding blessing in their chapel, my Uncle who has just qualified as a vicar is doing the wedding blessing. I have two bridesmaids, my oldest cousin and another of my cousins is the younger bridesmaid. Oliver is of course my page boy and i'm considering asking my older nephew too (he will be 3). OHs brother is his best man. The theme is winter wedding and we are having Cadbury purple as the colour. I have put a deposit down on a dress but im not sure about it now :cry:

OH and I are planning to renew our vows in late summer 2013. We were married 5 years ago in 2007 but didn't have the nicest time and didn't get the feeling of it being our special day. We're also been through a lot in our marriage so thought it appropriate to re-affirm our promises to each other.

As it's a vow renewal I want to keep it small and personal. Coupled with the fact that it is so remote, it'll probably only be our closest friends who make it out. I will be wearing a dress, just not a big white frock. There will be a service, but probably not in a church (we have wonderful memories of our original church service). There will be a cake, but not a traditional wedding cake. There won't be a seating plan and guests can wear what they feel comfortable in (even jeans). There will be a few Scottish traditions and I will be trashing the dress afterwards. There might even be a horse.

Hopefully there will be lots and lots of laughter, dancing, drinking and fun. :)

Some of this is what OH and I had originally wanted for our wedding. A lot is just ideas and ramblings, nothing is set in stone yet.

Location

Inverie in Knoydart. I place I used to go as a child, OH has never been. It's an incredibly remote part of the west coast of Scotland. There are no roads to Inverie, you can only get there by hiking three days through the hills or by taking a boat. We'll be going for the boat, but our guests can hike in if they want!

Venue
To be decided, but we are thinking Knoydart House(Click) which sleeps 10 and has gardens and a large open plan living room. It has a little beach and most of the rooms over look the sea. There are a couple of other places that offer accommodation around Knoydart, but I'll email this place first.

Accommodation rentals are done per week, so we'll be staying out there a full week. No idea how to divide this up atm, but we're thinking a full weekend with our friends and then a few days afterwards just us.

Well, it'll have to be by boat to get there! Then everything is within walking distance. We'll probably charter a boat like this to pick people up from the mainland and sail them across.

I don't want sculptured flowers. I plan to pick a lot of wildflowers from hedgerows and fields and put them in glass bottles or something. I will probably buy some cream avalanche roses from a florist on the mainland and use them in some way as they are 'our flower'.

I'd like to keep it personal, possibly handcrafted in some way and maybe even slightly unique to each guest.

Or in the village there is a wood worker who could maybe make some wooden favours for guests with each person's name craved into it.

Hello Brides & Brides-to-be!
I had a parenting journal that didn't go so well, but I've decided to give a Wedding journal a shot! I could seriously use a place to keep all of my random thought and idea's together.... and it'll be great to have somewhere to show off pics of my planning & putting it all together process!

A little about us:
So, I'm Zoe. I'm 18 and my fiance Conor (21) and I have been engaged for a year. We decided to put the planning of our wedding off until a later date due to expecting our first baby. But now that our beautiful son Isaac Alexander is 4 months old, we've decided to start planning the wedding! :happydance: I know it's all a bit backwards, but hey!

The Date:
Our wedding will be on the 12th of December 2012 - 11 months away. eek (VACANT POSITION FOR A BRIDEZILLA BUDDY! - maybe a Nov/Dec/Jan 2012?)
Conor more or less chose this date because he thought it would make it easier to remember our anniversary... but he didn't tell me that of course - he said he liked the date 12.12.12 because it's the last chance to have a 3 of the same digit date. because theres no 13th month. iykwim?

Our Colour Scheme:
We've chosen to use Ivory & Lavender as the colour scheme for the day.
So my dress will be Ivory, my bridesmaids will be in Lavender.
All of the boys will be wearing black pants, Ivory shirts & Lavender Ties.
Flowers will be a mix of the two colours.
Table cloths will be Ivory & my centre-pieces will be Lavender.... etc.

Budget:
we're on a bit of a tight budget due to me currently being a stay at home mum & we're also in the process of buying our first house at the moment... but we think we'll be able to pull it off. We don't have a set 'Budget' but I'm researching & working on it.

Ways we'll be saving money:
# Our Venue is picked & is completely free! We're having a backyard wedding and both ceremony & reception will be held at Conor's parents 40acre property.
# A really close family friend of ours is a Civil Celebrant - so we're planning on asking her to marry us! and that should (FX) save some $$$. and I think it will make the day that little bit more personal.
# Our wedding will be really small - Just Bride, Groom, 2 Bridesmaids, 2 Groomsmen & extremely close family and friends. so our numbers will be kept between 90 & 120.
# Instead of presents we'll be asking a few guests to bring some dishes of summer-ish cold foods and doing a buffet style thing. (Pasta Salads, Cold Meats etc.)
# My MIL used to make wedding cakes! so our cake will cost nothing besides the price of supplies.
# I'm going to be hand making invitations, centre-pieces, table numbers & hopefully my bridesmaids bouquets! (& anthing else I can think of..)
# Possibly thinking of using plastic plates, knives, forks etc?*
# I have a spare iPod which will be acting as band/DJ for the night. and he works out about $1500 cheaper than a real band or DJ
# & as you've probably worked out, we'll be planning our whole wedding. So we'll be saving a bunch by not using a wedding planner!
# Instead of a hens night I was thinking of maybe just organising a pedi session for myself & two bridesmaids the day before the BIG day?
