Our style is different, not TOO different. We are not a big fan of changing the spelling either.

So my name is Emma, my OH name is Heath and our LO is Hollie,

So for our next girly we were thinking a name beginning with an E to balance it up or ending in IE to go with Hollie.

We have decided on Marie for a middle name.

We were set in Elsie, but we have gone off it! :thumbup:

I have seen this pronounced a few different ways, so I want to see what is most common!

A site that I love, Behind The Name, says av-e-LEEN

I first heard the name on a site about Irish names. They had audio clips and pronounced it as ayv-LEEN with a long "a" and without the middle -e- sound, making it two syllables instead of 3.

And I can imagine that some people might say av-e-LINE

What do you think is the most common pronunciation?

if these are boys i like joseph and oliver-joe and ollie, joe ollie and finn. i think its cool.
hubby likes sebastian and tobias-seb and toby, finn thinks hes made sebastian up. i liked these but now going off them.

i like isla, izzie, livvy and lilly-dont know what order.
he likes summer(someone best remind him theres two!):shrug:

My OH and I are struggling for names we both LOVE.... we like normal names but don't want anything too common. He is quite fussy, so can't have anything too out there ! So far we have the following ..

Girls - Jessica, Zoe, Sophie, Emma

Boys - Ethan, Charlie, Ryan, Oliver

I feel like they are all a bit too common even though i do like them....

tired of the opinions about my baby's name

i have to rant a bit, my husband liked the name Cole, for a baby boy for many years, back in 2002 he wanted to name our son Cole but he just didn't seem like a cole to me, Flashforward our next baby he brought it up in conversation but the baby is a girl, name again not used...im preggo again, its a boy, this time i really feel in my bones, his name is Cole, ...here is where problem lies...i told a gf of mine what we are nameing him and she tells me (due before me) she is naming her son Cole, we don't live even within an hour of each other, and see each other 2x maybe a year..i love her but i don't feel like i need to change the name for that reason, we also had a family member pass away whos name was Nicole, and Cole is a nice way to honor her memory...the other problem, my inlaws HATE HATE HATE the name...they are really italian and want this family names that sound so ethnic that i shudder to even hear myself say them...but they are giving my husband such a hard time about it...saying we are giving are child a nonsense name..or they want the baby named after my husband...a jr...except he is our 3rd son...i am just now finding out they hate my other kids names...we are and alway have givine my kids family middle names....i am seriously at my wits end about this...i feel like this baby should be named Cole...i don't understand why this is such a big deal for them:dohh:

So I've only recently become a fan of twilight after Dh brought me the boxes for Christmas and I have completely fallen in love with Bella and edwards daughters name renesmee (renee and esme) and the meaning behind it (that its a mixture of both grandmothers names) so I thought let's make a fun game, you have to suggest two names then the next person has to create a name from them then suggest two names themselves.

For example if someone suggested annabelle and Bethan I would make the name annabeth. then suggest two names myself and so on and so on.

well we are stuck with a boys name, OH is really picky and im struggling to come up with other suggestions now. We have a DD who is 1 and her name is Evie Rose and are now expecting a little boy but cant think of anything to go with it.

I love George and Oliver (OH doesnt :nope:) and we both sort of like Kian and Owen but dont love either.

Advice for middle names

I am only 12 weeks pregnant and obviously don't know yet what sex I'm having but for some reason I am convinced it is a girl :shrug:. Assuming it is a girl, my hubby and I have 2 names we like but neither can we find any middle names to go with them. Can anyone suggest any?

The names are Holly and Lucy (The surname is Bradley if this helps).

So far, we have thought of:

Holly Marie, Holly Claire, Holly Zara, Holly Sara, Holly May/Mae, Holly Rose (though not too keen on this because both are plant names), Holly Samantha.

Lucy Claire, Lucy Rose (my personal favourite so far), Lucy Anne, Lucy Nicole, Lucy Samantha.

Middle name help

Need some help/suggestions on middle names

DH and I have nearly settled on Everette for our daughter's first name

I wanted Bethany Kay for her middle names - because my mum's name is Elizabeth Ann and DH's mom's middle name is Ann (so Bethany for the two of them) and then Kay is my gramma's middle name and great gramma's first name.
However, DH really doesn't like Bethany and I don't want to push it on him.

I want to name her after my mum in some way and Ann or some version of Ann is great because it's also DH's mom's middle name so she doesn't feel left out...but I don't want to use just plain ol' Ann
I also love the idea of naming her after my gramma who I am quite close to (but her first name is Sharon which I'm not keen on which is why I went with Kay)

I'm thinking about Kayanna/Kayann/Kayanne, but I'm worried that (a) they sound stupid because its not a name I've ever heard before and (b) our niece who is 10 months older than our daugher will be has the middle names "Katherine Ann" and since Kay is short for Ann, they would basically have the same middle name.

Thoughts/suggestions?

DH and I have pretty much agreed on these two names:

Ayla & Adeline (Would be pronounced like Ad-el-in)

He really likes Ayla, and I really like Adeline.

He thinks Adeline sounds too old fashioned. While I like Ayla, I think it's more common than Adeline and want something original.

Hello all, I'm currently expecting my second and my OH and I got into a bit of a argument last night over names.
Our first son was names Thomas after my father, so naturally the hubby suggested the same if our second turns out to be a boy (we don't really want to find out).

Problem is my husband is James, as was his father... and his father before him.
I understand the sentiment, but is it fair to subject the poor unborn to the title "James Hill" the 4th! Don't get me wrong, I like the name, but does anyone else find it weird?

I am looking for Boy names with the letters L-I-A and either M or N in them. They don't have to be any specific order. We have the following Kiddos: Amelia, William, and Lillian. If we have another girl, her name would be Juliana. But boys, and we are having issues. So far I have: Julian and Elian. Our last name starts with an A, and it actually a girls name, LOL. Struggling with names....

Hi Everyone :winkwink:

Really struggling to come up with names that both me and OH both like. :cry: Ones we do agree on, we like opposite spellings !

For example, we both like Sofia for a girl, but he doesn't want it unless we spell it 'Sophia'

He also won't let me have any names that don't look like they are spelled ! I love the name Aoife, and of course he hates it !

For a boy we like Ethan, but i'd like a few options uncase the baby doesn't look like the name we pick when he/she arrives!

Any suggestions welcome ! (bearing in mind we want normal names and not one thats a bit 'out there' lol )

Hi everyone
I wonder if you can help me by giving your opinions.

Our baby boy is due next week and me and OH can't agree on a name for him.

We conceived the baby about a month after my OH's dad died and my OH would love the baby to have his Dad's name, but I'm not too keen (on the name itself or the idea of naming the baby after OH's dad as I love the idea of baby having his own individual name and my partner's dad was such a big character, one of a kind).

I know it makes my OH really sad and I want to make him happy but it's such an important decision I think.

Anyway his dads name was Frank. I don't hate the name but just can't see our baby with that name. We'd definitely have it as a middle name.

Does anyone think I'm being mean or selfish? I feel really guilty.

I really am torn, I would love my child to have a name that they wouldn't get teased for but at the rate the world is going, we are going to have classes with 20 kids named the same. I love names like Jack, Lewis, Callum etc but absolutely love the name Phoenix for a boy but unsure if it would bring on teasing?

Hi! I know I am still early but DH and I already decided on names. We want Lindsey Sophia or Patrick Karl (my grandpas name was karl). Well my oh so wonderful inlaws (sis, bro,mom and father in law) said thaf if we named our son patrick they would have to laugh and call him patrick star. You know...the idiot starfish from spongebob. Grrrrr. Is patrick really a bad name? What should I say to them? Should I stick with my choice? And they are not nice people, so they would not just say it to us, but also to him

Hubby was not down for my name and then he researched it and realized it is a name used in a Shakespeare play (he loves literary references) and told me last night that he likes the name...I let him choose the middle name so our girl is going to be called Imogen Blythe...I have wanted Imogen and my sons name is Arlo so I think it is a good sounding pair. Surname is Butler. Now I can start calling her by name....

A few weeks ago we found out we were gonna have a baby girl.:happydance: We thought it over and decided to name her Analisa Marie. But I don't want people calling her anal-lisa so maybe Annalisa would be better....BUT I do like the Analisa with 1 n better. :dohh:

I've not even gotten a BFP yet, but DH and I are talking about names. We both love the name Eilidh. However, we live in the US now and I am worried she would spend her entire life correcting people who call her Eyelid. We already have a Scottish surname that is constantly mispronounced. Would you change the spelling or just choose a different name?

Well was chatting to OH the other week and he said it would be weird if we called out next bubba a name starting with 'A' as we already have an Amelia and an Alexander. I said don't be silly and it would be fine but was listening to a girl I know who was talking about her 3 children (who all start with L) and actually thought that maybe it does sound a bit strange if they all start with the same letter?

I like unusual names but with traditional spellings, i am not a fan of a name that has been 'amended' so much and i wondered what others thought?

for example my friend desperately tried to get me to change the spelling of Jasper's name, to Jaspah

a girl i know has just had a daughter called Jazmin which i think is much nicer spelled Jasmine, Jasmine reminds me of a flower whereas Jazmin sounds like a hiphop star! (though maybe that is what shes going for?

I just wondered if people found a name and then decided to spell it differently to be different or were comfortable with the original spelling x

Well me and SO have decided on the name Fabian for our boy. It's not a very popular name, which is what we like. Originally we had Aiden picked out as a middle name, but it's so popular that we dislike it now. So now we have to try to find a middle name. The last name will be Araujo (pronounced Uh-raw-hoe). The only middle names we have found that we actually like are Evan, Alexander, and Alistair (and I'm still unsure of these). Anyone have any suggestions as to what middle names will go? :flower:

Ok so we already have a Samuel. I really like the name Nathaniel for a boy, but partner says it rhymes too much with Samuel....

If someone said their kids are Samuel and Nathaniel, would you think they rhyme? Would you notice? Does it matter? I really need help on this, I don't want the names to sound silly together!

At the moment it's on our list as a middle name, but i actually prefer it to some of our first name choices!

Sparrow...

OH and I really like it for a little boy, i know nicole richie named her little boy Sparrow and i thought it was lovely as soon as i heard it..i understand its not to everybodies taste but just wondering what others think of it as OH has read comments on the internet that put him off like "sparrows are dirty birds" and "theyre scrawny and horrible..why would you want to name your child after that..

For us the name has a little meaning...I REALLY love the name "Swallow" for a girl..(from Whistle down the wind) however in this day and age..theyres no way you could get away with calling a girl swallow..its just setting her up for torment :dohh: So Sparrow is similiar...

Not just that but OH's dad used to call OH Sparrow when he was a little boy and still does sometimes now..OH likes that his dad called him it and likes the idea of calling a boy that..

Long story short our LO was going to be called Lainey Rae, someone in family has used that grrr ) so we finally settled on Layla Rae.

My friend told me her middle name was Dyan (my mum is Diane) so I was wondering if I should use my mums name as well. I've also said I'd use my dads name for a boys so why not my mum also my sister used my dads name & thought it would be nice to include my mum.

My ? is I love the sound of Layla Rae together but could I officially on the birth certificate use Layla Rae Dyan & for all offcial documents but if people ask say her name is Layla Rae or would that be funny (if u know what I mean) would love to use my mums name but it doesnt flow as well all together.

Please could you tell me what you think & if you also like the alternate way of spelling :flower:
