So as the title states, my lo won't stop throwing up. He threw up alot when I was bf and now with ff he is still having the same problem. And he screams and fussy most of the day. the dr. said that it might be reflux and prescribed some reflux medication. But he is still having alot of pain at times when eating. We are now on our 2 type of formula and he is still spitting up after every feed. I just don't know what to do for my lil man. I feel helpless right now. has anyone experienced this with any of thier children?

I already have the TT flask so hot water is sorted (I don't use the TT bottles though as they gave Josh bad wind).....

Can anyone recommend one they've used that's been great please? I'm in the UK :flower:

Firstly sorry to keep posting for advice, I really don't feel I have anything to give though!

Baby girl is 17 days old born by section, ff from birth, was in hospital 2 nights and on the cow & gate ready made bottles, she has been a slow feeder from the start, falling asleep mid feed yet crying for feed etc. she still does this now and I have to try to wake her up by changing her/stripping her off.

Once home we carried on with ready made then starting using the powder form of c&g, week later she got constipated, had a night of screaming, red face, legs to tummy etc next day we went into boots and spotted the aptamil comfort for colic/constipation so thought we'd try her on that, she did a poo that night. She was ok on it other than the feed being even slower despite changing teats.
HV came on Monday (when baby was 2 weeks) and suggested changing back to a normal formula, we started on Aptamil 1 and went down a level on teats.
Feeding has got tougher, she's now taking about 50ml before giving up, is regularly throwing up and last night cried all night.

I'm at my wits end, I'm crying all the time, I can't take it :-(

Should we change back to comfort feed and struggle with the teats, slow feeds (btw she wasn't wonderful on this either), should we stick with a aptamil 1 and fight through the screaming?, should we try her on something else? A soy formula maybe? I think she is suffering from colic/constipation/possetting/throwing up.
I'm using detinox, infacol, colief (not all at same time).
I havent had more than 3 hours sleep in 17 days. I feel like I need to curl up in a ball somewhere dark.

I'm dreading tonight. I want a remedy but no idea what to do. How long should we give a formula to settle?

Any advice?

He obviously wants it if he is taking so much.. its just.. so much :o

Hi all

Hi all

This maybe a silly question so I apologies in advance if it is.

My twins are now fully on formula and because they had it in the hospital/SCBU at room temp/cool then that is what they are used to and what they like. I have tried them with warm milk and it makes them really ill, upset tummies and really bad trapped wind so it's pretty obvious to me that they prefer it at normal room temperature.

Anyway, what I have been doing is boiling up the water, putting it in the bottles, letting it go completely cool and then as and when I want to feed them I have been adding the powder. Now I know this goes against the guidelines but with two screaming babies this is the easiest option I have found.

I want to change the way I do things and make the feeds up with the 70 degree water so as to kill any bacteria in the powder (I am not sure I believe this is entirely necessary but I want to at least make sure I am doing things right !). What I intend to do is make up 8 bottles at a time the correct way and put in the fridge and take out as and when required.

Here is my small (and somewhat silly issue), my little ones do not like the milk straight out of the fridge as it is too cold for them and they spit it out and scream, but they also do not like it warmed up as I mentioned above this makes them ill. I can not take the milk out of the fridge and let it warm up to room temp on it's own as then it will be sitting out for longer than the recommended 1 hour. What I really want to know is, is there a way of just quickly making the milk warmer, as in taking the chill off of it so as to not be fridge cold but at the same time making sure it's not warm so as to not upset their tummies.

I have tried running under a hot tap, but I am concerned this isn't really taking the chill off enough, but if I try and sit in in a bowl of hot water or microwave it, it gets to hot !!!!

Anyone got any simple tips for making the milk just a cool'ish room temp with no heat in it ?

Thanks ladies in advance, and sorry for the dumb'ish baby brain question :flower:

Sarah x x

My 3 week old boy keeps doing this. Only maybe one or two feeds out of his 8-10 a day, but he will start doing it half way through and then does it several times making it hard to feed him! Is it a reflux/wind type problem, or is he just discovering what his body can do and playing up?! lol. He often grunts at the same time so I don't know if it's related to him trying to poo! He only poos once a day but it's a massive explosive one!

I'm not being lazy, I swear

It's just tonight he insisted on giving himself his own bedtime bottle whilst lying on the floor watching Jungle Junction.

He's been feeding himself the odd couple of oz's for a while now but never a full 9oz bottle.

Is this good for his age? With him being prem I'm used to him being a bit behind on most things and not to compare or anything  but my 9 month old neice doesn't do this yet so I'm quite happy.

Also while I'm on the subject, when is an acceptable age to give them something to eat whilst in the buggy? I often rush home to feed him if he gets cranky. He's good with finger foods and bolt upright, not reclined at all as he never sleeps in the buggy but he's forward facing so I'm a bit dubious.

A couple of months ago he was prescribed Infant Gaviscon for his reflux though I haven't switched him back to normal formula as I'm scared his tummy pains will come back, though the new milk didn't actually help his constipation. Now that he's being weaning I'm wondering if maybe he doesn't need comfort milk anymore but I don't want to hurt his little tummy by changing and it not agreeing with him  Has anyone switched to normal milk or follow on milk from comfort milk at 6 months or later and what happened?

I'm a bit confused about when to move onto the next milk. We are currently using aptamil 1st stage and I just assumed that at 6 months (in 3 weeks for us) we would need to move onto to the follow on milk. I was just reading the packet of the 1st stage milk though and it gives guidelines for the 1st stage milk for 6 - 12 months. I'm now not sure if we should move on to follow on straight away at 6 months or continue with the 1st stage milk a little longer. We have just started with BLW this week but nothing has actually been eaten yet. Should we be waiting until she is eating plenty of solids before changing milk? When did you / do you intend to switch to the follow on milk?

My little one is 4 1/2 months old. He is on Nutramigen for milk and soy protein allergies and added rice cereal for reflux. He has been congested for months and the past few days he has been extra irritable, not sleeping well and barely finishing a 4oz bottle. Today I noticed after his short 30 minute nap that he had dark brown spit up on himself. I don't know if it's something to be worried about because my first daughter was breastfed and never had all of these problems.

Hi everyone

I hope some of you can help!

My 8 week old little boy was put on gaviscon on Monday this week after finally being diagnosed with reflux. He was already on cow and gate comfort as we thought it was colic and he was also only pooing every few days and has always been a windy baby.

Since being on the gaviscon if has been sick less but suffering terrible trapped wind and seems to be straining to pass wind a lot and is really difficult to burp. This is causing as much, if not more, crying during and in between feeds!

I'm using infacol but don't think it's really helping and using gripe water after feeds helps with the wind but makes him sick again!

I've heard of SMA staydown and wondered if it's worth ditching the gaviscon and switching to this? Not sure if it's suitable for a windy baby?

My name's Jennie and I'm coming over to FF.

LO has been so hard to bf including 3 weeks of being unable to latch. 3 weeks of feeding ok and now a nursing strike which has gone on for two weeks (ish) my supply is dwindling so I've been giving her top ups and now I've been told I still have a bit of SPD because of bfing.

It's the final straw so I'm starting to phase it out. I'll be freezing/ refridgerating my milk over the next week or so as I stop and will be giving her acouple of ounces mixed in a day to give her BM for a little longer.

How much should LO be taking? She takes between 1.5 and 3.5 oz depending on time of day.

Hi,

I am sick with worry for my 7 month old baby and I don't know what to do or how I can fix this problem.
But he will just not drink any milk for me during the day.. I am lucky to get 5-6oz in him and thats at a struggle..
He has now started refusing his bedtime bottle and is goin to bed most nights on 2-3oz...
But he will wake for 2 feed during the night which he will drain the 2 of them..

He is on 3 meals a day and last time I got him weighed was 2 wks ago he was 17lb 3oz which is very good, the health visitor suggested cutting back on some of his meals in the hope he will be hungry for milk, I tried that but he still won't drink much more for me..

I don't mind being up for the 2 feeds cos I know he will drink the milk but I have another wee boy at nearly 3 and I am exhausted.. I know this can't go on as I can't sleep train him cos I know he must be hungry and that he needs the milk..

I am worried he will make himself ill.

this is a typical day:

8am breakfast (he won't take a bottle first)
10am bottle i make 4oz but he only drinks 2oz

12pm Lunch
2/2.30pm bottle usually 2-3oz

4pm dinner

playtime/bath

7/7.15pm bottle i make 7oz but recently he's only taking 3 or 4oz at the most

He's then awake again about 11.30pm for a feed and again at around 4am..

Am I doing it all wrong??
I have tried getting him up at 7am and giving him breakfast early etc but nothing I seem to do does the trick...

Just can't see the end of the tunnel with this problem...

can anyone help me??

Hi all

Poppy is now only having two breast feeds from me, the rest is formula. A few times she's sicked up what I'd say is not far off her whole feed. Ok maybe not, but you know it seems a lot!

Does anything cause them to be sick? Cold milk? Not winding enough? I'm sure it's nothing like reflux but if it's too cold or warm milk or not winding enough I can sort out those things lol!

My son never puked so this is all new to me!!! He did have silent reflux though :(

Thanks! J xxx

Please can anyone help!

My 14week old daughter has been suffering with constipation since she was about 6weeks. I have been feeding her sma gold from birth. 2 weeks ago I changed her formula to aptimel comfort and her constipation went straight away but she became very sicky after all her feeds. She was never sick on sma. So I changed her to cow and gate comfort but she still very sicky but no constipation.

What do I do?
Do I change her feed again? If so what 2?
Any advice greatly received!

Okay my LO has had a few milk problems since birth, not sure if it was an intollerance or extreme colic, either way he has been on Aptimel comfort for some time now, he is almost 5 months, and seems to be going backwards in his routine. He had started sleeping 7pm-4am(bottle then back off to sleep until 8am) Now he is waking at 11.30pm, 2am, 5am, and then 8am(having a 7oz bottle at every one of these times!)

Now my question is would it benefit him more changing to hungry baby milk? Especially as the comfort milk causes him to have watery nappies aswell. HV advised weaning, which we have started but not making the slightest bit of diference.

Sorry if this is a really thick question. Well i usually pre-make bottles from powder and store in fridge, but occasionally run out and use the ready made cartons. But it's a nuisance sterilising a fresh bottle every time, so wondering if i can sterilise a few bottles, fill them up using the cartons and store at the back of fridge for the day, is that okay to do? x

Hi,

I'm really hoping that some of you lovely people can help me with this question as it's starting to drive me bananas:cry: My daughter has just turned 12 months. She's quite a small child & doesn't have a great appetite for solid food (i'l explain this below). She currently takes around 500ml of formula per day (I'm keeping her on formula for a while). My question is, how much milk/formula should a child take from 12 months+. I want to ensure she gets enough for nutrients etc if she doesn't take much solids, but I don't want her to fill up so much on milk that she has no room for solids. C&G cartons say 300ml per day; SMA says 500ml, & Aptamil says 300ml on the powdered growing up milk, but 500ml on the pre-made bottles of the same stuff - help please!! I'm totally confused.

At the min i'm trying to get LO onto a healthier solid food diet. She is still taking veg only in pureed form. She will happily eat a range of finger foods that she likes, but won't take most lumpy foods or meat in spoon form. I know this is largely down to me giving her what she wants because I'm afraid of her not eating anything. I am determined to make a real effort to get her onto more approopriate foods before she gets too old, but I do want to ensure that I get the formula quantities right in case I have a battle on my hands with the solid foods. Sorry for the long post, I just want to try to do this right for her!!

Thanks xx

Hello experienced mummies!

Our LO is 6 weeks old and on 91st centile for weight, length and head circumference...weighed 11lb 8oz yesterday (was 7lb 12oz at birth)...

Until about a week ago she was taking pretty much 6-7oz every 3-4 hours...with a few feeds at times 2hourly...however for the last week or so without us doing anything differently we have had to wake her for her feed 5-6 hours after her 7pm feed...she then sleeps again for 4-5 hours until her first morning feed..when she wakes naturally.

My question is...shoud we be wakening her after 5-6 hours or waiting until she wakes in the hope that she will drop one of the after midnight feeds??

Thank you in advance! :flower::flower:

He's actually 13 days tomorrow, and started on FF after 5 days of BF and he was dropping too much weight. He took to formula really well, and took 50-60ml for first few days, but then started taking 70-80ml, and now he can take anywhere from 70ml-120ml in a feed. Is this normal? He wakes at such random times - sometimes he will feed, then stay awake for an hour and then want feeding again. Sometimes he will sleep for 3 hours before waking for his next feed. Is this normal too? I am a natural worrier (when it was just me!!) and now I have this little man to worry about too! He also has a horrible period most nights, between about 8pm and midnight, where he just doesn't want to settle and sleep at all!

I'd really appreciate any advice cos I am new to this and feel a bit like i'm stumbling through the dark!!

Freya has slept through from 12 weeks (don't shoot me!) but because she was essentially "missing" a bottle (she had previously had one at 3am) I started doing a dream feed of 4/5ozs at around 11pm. I was going to try and wean her off it anyway before I go back to work (April) but the last week or so, she's cried when I've got her up for it (she never stays asleep when I get her up for it, so I guess technically it's not a dream feed). Last night she refused to take it, and got quite distressed. I got her back to sleep, and she still slept through until 8am!

I want to drop it and see how she goes. She still has 4x7oz bottles during the day, and is being weaned, so I'm thinking she just doesn't want it anymore. Plus, I would be cross if I was woken up as well! DH is worried that she won't be getting enough milk during the day, especially as she's being BLW'd so sometimes doesn't eat a huge amount. My thought is see how she goes without it, she's being weighed next week anyway at a hospital appointment, and re-introduce it if I need to.

How have other people got on when they've dropped the dream feed? x

This may seem like a silly question but I don't really know the answer. With my first child I only started using formula at 3 months. I have been told that formula fed babies feed less than babies who receive breast milk so I was curious how often you fed your newborns with formula.

Hi Ladies,

Leo is 5 months and 1 week old :cloud9: He isn't on solids yet, just his milk. For a while he's been having 5 bottles day.. varying between 4-6oz depending on how hungry he is!

For the last few days he's been a bit tricky to get to sleep of a night, usually we pop him up in his cot at 9.30pm and he's always asleep by 9.45pm at the latest. But instead he's been whinging and crying for sometimes an hour, no matter how much I stroke his face, rock him and play his bedtime lullabies! So I've ended up giving in and bringing him downstairs to sit with us in his bouncer and he's been soo grumpy but then falling asleep about 11.30pm and then we take him up to his cot and we go to bed.

Well tonight I think a lightbulb lit up in my head... maybe he's still hungry!!! :dohh: So I filled his last bottle with 8oz just to see how much he would take. He had about 7.5oz, burped and fell straight to sleep in his cot at 9.30pm! :happydance:

Anyway my question is.. lol Is this pretty normal at 5 months old for him to start wanting a bit more to satisfy him before bed? I thought he'd be getting to the stage where he'd start wanting less milk not more?! I know people might say this is a sign he is ready for weaning but with have tried him with a bit of puree about a week ago and it gave him reeally bad tummy pain so he's not quite there yet!

Thanks for reading! x x x

Hi all,

My baby girl is 5 days old. We are FF C&G (was going to us Aptamil but hospital only had C&G or SMA).
We have been doing the recommended process of making a feed up as needed but it's pretty hard going and takes a while when baby is screaming!

New process is now sterilise while kettle boiling, add hot water to 6 bottles 90ml (she's taking between 50-70ml) then let cool until needed, when needed add 3 scoops and shake.
We haven't been heating up as in the hospital it was room temp so figured why start heating.

Do you think this is ok? On a nighttime we've been using the premade C&G for ease.

I'm confused and getting worked up reading all the different ways.
I suppose I just want someone to tell me we are doing it ok.

Thanks.

Hi Everyone!

Ive recently been advised by my HV to try my LO on Cow & Gate Comfort as she was rather unsettled and twisty (sometimes crying as if in pain) after every feed and would projectile vomit at least once a day/sometimes every other day if we fed her less, but was also quite sick after every feed, so HV suspects possible reflux.

Has/is anyone using this??

We started her on it yesterday evening and she has seemed a little more settled but has vomited [projectile] twice and has been rather sickly with pretty much all of her feeds. is it normal for her to be more sick? i thought it was supposed to help with that!?

Also in regards to making up the feeds, it says on the box to boil the water and to leave to cool for 30 mins then add powder which ive done and seems fine except the grainy bits which seems to settle in the bottom when left standing, i googled it to make sure i was doing it right as she is now not very consistent with the amount she takes each feed and i thought perhaps its because i havent mixed it right and she not getting the full benefits [with Cow & Gate 1 she was havin 4oz, now she either doesnt finish her bottle or will finish it and go mad for more and then sometimes vomit!] What ive read is that this particular milk has to be made up differently [altho on the box the instructions are exactly the same as Cow & Gate 1?!] and most people say to make it up with fresh boiled water, might be just me and my dopey brain but is that not just boiled water not left to cool at all? i also read somewhere that the way it says on the box is incorrect?!

Any advice would be much appreciated!
I have tried the Cow & Gate website but it has no more info than the box and the live chat for advice is only open mon - fri!

Hi everyone :)

I'm new to this forum, just joined to get some general advice as I'm a new mummy to my gorgeous 8 week old baby girl.

I've been using the normal Tommee Tippee bottles but have bought a couple of their new anti-colic plus bottles (the ones with the thermometer in the middle) and was wondering if anyone has used them, and if so, how do you make up a bottle using them?
The instructions say not to use boiling water, but whenever I've made up a bottle for my lo before with the normal bottles, I've poured in boiling water straight out of the kettle, added the formula, shaken it up, and cooled it down in a jug of cold water... but the anti-colic plus bottles you can't use boiling water, so am I meant to just wait until the boiling water cools before putting it in the bottle?
The hassle involved with all the parts and the fact I have to wait for the boiled kettle water to cool has already put me off using them!!

I was just wondering if anyone could give me some tips on how to get LO to take room temp formula? I use nursery water and powdered formula. The water sits out on our kitchen counter in its jug but when I pour it and mix in the formula and test it it feels cool to me. Is it ok for LO to drink it slightly cool like this? She has been on warm milk since the beginning, and the warmer it is the more she likes it. I am asking about this because will be flying with her in a couple of months and don't want to have to worry about where or when I'm going to be able to warm a bottle. I want to be able to just mix it and give to her as she needs. Any tips would greatly be appreciated.

Hi guys

Just wondering if someone could give their opinion on my daughters routine and her feeds. She has 210ml (about 6.5 oz) and she feeds at around 10am, 2pm, 6pm (at the 6pm feed I up it to 240ml and use hungry baby milk - for the other feeds its just normal SMA Gold) and she'll sleep right through from 7/8pm till around 7/8am if I let her but I usually wake her at 6am for a feed as I dont like leaving her that long without feeding or a nappy change. So in total she has 3 feeds at 210ml and one at 240ml so only 4 feeds a day. I posted this on another site and I got a load of abuse telling me its 'wrong' and she should be feeding 6-7 times a day?! I didnt think I was doing anything wrong as shes a perfectly healthy happy baby (born at 9lb 6 and has continued to gain weight).

What do u think?! Am I doing something wrong?? xx

Hi guys

My lo has been prescribed gaviscon to be given in his night feeds. I have been reluctant go give him any as iv read it can make them constipated and my lo already has problems trying to pass wind. However having read up on reflux i have discovered his wind problems could be caused by reflux. I had told the gp his problems were worse at night which is why they have said to put it in night feeds but he has started to become sick and unsettled through the day too.

My first question is would you recomend gaviscon? And my second is should i put it in all his feeds?

Any advice or comments greatly appreciated

Hi
my lo is just 14 weeks, my lo who was taking 5 8oz bottles every 4 hours appart from in the night suddenly went off his food from the 13/01 this month. He takes baby gaviscon for reflux and it has been working really well.
I could barely get 4 oz in him.He would thrash around and scream if I tried to give him anymore. I took him to see the HV who said just perservere. I took him to see a nurse, who couldnt do anything. I then took him to the doctor who gave him colief and completely poopooed my suggestion that he may have silent reflux.
The syptoms havent improved infact got worse. I took him to the HV yesterday, I explained the problem. Telling her that his last feed was at 21.30 and he had only taken 2oz's she obviously hadnt listened. she suggested he wasnt hungry and that I waited until 1pm to try and feed him as he wont allow himself to starve. The problem is that he wants his bottle but cant take it. I said dont you think thats a long time without a feed? she said some babies sleep through the night without a feed.. I was bewildered Id just told her that he sleeps through without a feed and that it was nearly 16hrs without food and he was showing no signs of feeding. Then the other health visitor suggested that it was bothering me more than it was him. she weighed him, he'd only gained 2oz in 13 days. she then proceeded to tell me that was fine. which its absolutely not normal for him. He is 14.3 and had been gaining weight very steadily until now. I feel so let down by them as they sent me away saying stick with it. like there is nothing wrong with him. They said some very sarcastic remarks to me also but it would take too long to write it all down.
in the end i went to the doctors who also said i cant find anything wrong however there is obviously a problem and give it another week and the symptoms will become more apparant.
Im now under the impression that unless my lo looses weight they wont take me seriously. honestly why do we pay into the nhs to treated so badly. surely they should refer to a pediatrician. the whole day my lo had 6oz instead of his usual 40 oz.
Im completely frusterated and let down what do I do? Im close to just taking him to a hospital as Id rather them deal with the problem before he starts to loose weight.
How on earth do I get these people to listen???

I've boiled the water and was wondering if its ok to leave it in a covered jug on the counter so its not freezing cold in the fridge before I mix it in the bottles. Or does iit have to be refridgerated and we will just have to heat the bottle in the microwave.. I heard your not suppose to heat the bottles as its uneven heat but our little one likes his bottles to be warm... thanks so much!

Lo was exclusively bf up until 9 weeks when we tried some formula in s bottle to get lo to take a bottle as she was refusing. I could barely get an oz expressing so I thought I would continue to bf and forumla in the bottle. She now takes the bottle yay! And has about 2oz of formula a day the rest is breastmilk. Some ppl have made comments to me making me feel bad because I can bf and therefore I shouldn't introduce formula until lo was 6 months butexpressing at 4am as this is when my supply is most and still only getting an oz was making me ill! Also lo sleeps alot better even with just 2oz forumla a day. I feel like this works well for both of us and a happy mum will make a happy baby...why am I being made to feel guilty?? X

I compared the formulas of Parent Choice side by side on their online website and I think Lucas would probably need the Gentle one...only problem I saw is that it shows it supports the DHA thing but when it said something about immune supporting neobioties (sp?), that one was not checked....and neither was another thing below it....but the regular parent choice had them all checked.

Hi all,
I'm a bit worried about my 13 week old, for the last few days her amount of bottles have decreased... She Has reflux and is on anti reflux formula and has been for about 7 weeks, she used to drink about 6 bottles a day and about 120-140mls each time which was great!
But the last few days (3-4 days) she has been having max 4 bottles a day and is only drink between 60-80mls each time :( my friends who have babies the same age as grace, they are drinking between 140-180mls
I had her weighed last week and she was 6lbs 2oz (2780 grams) when she was born and now at almost 3 months she is 10lbs 3oz (4940 grams)
I'm really worried that she is under weight and now with the decreasing feeding... She isn't getting what she needs :(

So I started FF only after 3 weeks of not bfeeding. I am getting the hang of preparing bottles etc but just confused about what he should be drinking as I have heard different things.

He started off taking 2-3 ozs every 2-3 hoursish. ( 3 weeks old)

then he seemed to take 4 ozs every 2-3 hours for a couple of days. ( between 3-4 weeks)

Now he seems to be gone back to 3 ozs every 2 hours but sometimes takes 4-5. I am making 5 oz bottles just in case but he hardly ever uses all of it. I have no idea if it's ok that he is gone back to 3 oz? he seems happy and content enough ( Since he was prescribed gaviscon but that is a whole other story!)

So is it ok for him at a month old to be having 3 oz every 2 hours during the day and every 3 hours at night?

I am confused about how much formula my 7 month old should have per day. I just stopped breastfeeding. The formula tin says 2-3 bottles of about 230 ml per day, but websites say that solids at this point are still minimal and he should get most of his nutrition from milk, meaning about 900 ml per day.

I don't want to overfeed him, he is already big for his age. He eats quite well on solids.

thanks

hi ladies,
I'm really confused at the moment as my son is 3 months and he is more like 6months weight and length. The HV even commented how long he was. I've had my son in a routine from day one which has worked brilliantly for us all. Im now noticing he just wouldnt wake in the mornings at his normal 7am feed. Today i tried to leave him to see how long he would stay asleep. His last feed was at 9pm and and he didnt wake until 8.30. (it seems a long time w/o a feed)
I was having a mild panic but didnt want to wake him. Im one of the lucky rare ones that had a baby that slept through from 6weeks. so thats 9.5 hours. His last feed is 9oz. I know the current advice is let the baby lead you but Im unfortunatly a bit of a control freak and do benefit from a routine.
How long ''should'' a 3month old baby sleep through.
any routines that you do would be greatly appreciated.

Hey ladies. A lot of you know I was, and still am breastfeeding but I also have to use formula for the time being until LO gets to her optimal weight. So the hospital has her on S26 Gold formula, both the powdered form and/or the premixed form. I was just wondering if anyone has had any problems on it?
LO was on fortified breast milk for a little bit but we had no problems, but since being put on the formula she has been sicking up at regular intervals, something she has never done, and she seems to get way more wind. Is this just generic of formula feeding, or could there be something wrong? The nurses have ruled out reflux, and I asked them about a protein allergy (nearly everyone in my family is either lactose intoolerant or allergic to dairy protein). They didn't really do anything. Everytime she has formula her stools smell absolutely wretched.
So please help. I'm knew to this whole formula thing.

My LO has CMPI and I bf her (dairy/soy free diet) but I will have to go back to work later this year and I have never pumped so I don't know what I will do. She has never taken a bottle so by that stage it will be a doidy cup but I don't know if she will take to the taste of neocate at that age! Any of you any experience of this??

My baby is 2 weeks old and taking between 3 and 4 oz at each feed- my midwife told me to feed him every 4 hours during the day and on demand during the night (he continues with the 4 hour routine during the night) so his routine is 7am, 11am, 3pm, 7pm and 11pm and 3am which is great

Ocasionally, he will be ready to feed earlier than the 4 hours - sucking his hands and crying at around the 3 / 3.5 hr mark.

Me and hubby have been stretching him out by giving him the dummy or water but sometimes he cries so much and i wonder wot to do 4 the best???

So basically my ques is do i break the day time routine and feed him a bit earlier when he is very hungry or do i persevere and stretch him out till the 4 hour??

Advice will be very much appreciated.

Hi ladies,
This is my first post.
My LO is 12 weeks and has had reflux from day one. He has not lost any weight thankfuly. He was taking infant gaviscon which worked a treat and he wasn't bringing anything back up. :happydance:
Just last weekend he wouldnt take any of his milk which was really worrying me. I went through the usual channels HV, Nurse, GP. My GP has recomended we use colief in his bottles. I was under the impression that the colief was to help with his wind problems. However upon reading into it, it appears that its for lactose intolerence ?
Does anyone know if the colief will help with wind? reflux? And can you mix colief and gaviscon together or not ? My GP did not mension this at all so i presumed it would be fine. When i picked up the prescription the lady in the pharmacy said not to use it together ....
I am so confused now ( as always after speaking with the profesionals ) Id rather not ring the surgery again as Ive been in so many times this week the receptionist and I are now on a first name basis hehhehe xx

Has anyone else found that the number 1 teats are too slow and the number 2's too fast. On the slow flow teats my lb is falling asleep mid bottle because he is having to work so hard to get his milk, so we changed him onto the mid flow and he was GREAT on them for a few days, even slept from 11-5 one night but yesterday he started struggling, you could hear him chugging on it and he would scream during his bottle and gave him bad trapped wind. So we've changed back to the slow flow and he is much better but falling asleep mid bottle, then going to sleep for 40-60mins then waking up having another half and you get the drift! so naturally we are both exhausted! any advice please, thanks in advance

Say I want to pop out with a friend for a coffee, go at 12 and he needs a bottle at 1.

Do I need to faff around taking a flask and making one fresh there, or can i just take one out the fridge and let it warm to room temperature? It would only be out for like an hour before I give it to him x

Formula and constipation - 5 week old baby

Hi everyone

First time mum here and I was hoping someone would have some advice for me. I have been supplement feeding my 5 week old baby daughter for about 3 weeks now - it's crept up and I would estimate that she is probably on 75% formula now and 25% breast.

Since I started the formula, she was a lot more unsettled, very gassy and whingy. After doing some research, I came across a goat milk formula which is supposedly great for digestion etc and changed her to that on Monday this week. Day 1 and 2 were great - she was very settled and much happier. On Day 3, constipation started. She was screaming, I cried and there was a tiny bit of blood in her poo when she finally got it out. It was a long 'dough' like log.

I called the formula care line and they said to give her brown sugar in the formula and to add a bit of extra water each feed which I have been doing. She did a poo yesterday (Day 4) and it was relatively soft but small. Today is Day 5 and she hasn't been to the bathroom yet. I am still doing the brown sugar and the water but she has been crying when she farts and I am so worried that I am doing the wrong thing. She seems relatively happy apart from the straining and grunting which makes me think it's hurting her.

The care line people told me to stick with the formula and to not change back. We are going to the paedatrician on Monday but I thought someone might have some advice for me. I feel like a terrible mum
