I've just given myself a real scare. I had read that tonic water can help with MS, so at the weekend I got some. I drank a litre over the weekend. I've now just discovered that it is bad for baby at this stage, and I'm really panicking. Does anyone know anything about this, or has anyone else drunk it in first tri and been OK?

I'm pretty sure this will have been done before but i was just wondering what are you doing to calm down your morning sickness?

I spent ages in the bathroom this morning chucking up bile and its really frustrating. I have a headache all the time and feel crap. To make matters worse DH and I are supposed to be going down to london next weekend with some friends to stay at their friends who we have never met. I dont want to spend all my time in their bathroom.

What's working for you if anything?

I was awoken at 6.30am feeling hot, hungry, nauseous, crampy (gas pains again) and felt like I had been hit by the world's most massive hangover. My question for you ladies is:

I was wondering if anyone has a septate uterus and is pregnant or have been pregnant. I was diagnosed with it a couple of years ago and suffered threw 2 miscarrages. I am currently pregnant (it was a nice surprise) and I went in for an u/s a week ago and there was a gestational sac and a yolk sac but no fetal pole. My doc said that it could be to early to tell (she thinks I am about six weeks along) and that having a yolk sac was a good sign. I am going in for my second u/s tomorrow and hopefully there will be atleast a fetal pole. Now that the u/s is so close I am more scared than I was a couple days ago. I guess it is because I know that tomorrow I find out if I am able to carry the baby.

I just got back from my first obstetrician's appointment. I'm booked in for an ultrasound on Wednesday at 12:30 to see if we can hear the heartbeat.

He wants to see me every four weeks. He also told me that I'm Rh negative, meaning that I've got to get some injection at around 28 weeks.

All in all, it was a good appointment. I forgot to ask him about the likelihood that I'll develop pre-eclampsia. The last three generations of women in my family have had it (my great-grandmother, my grandmother, and my mother). I was 6 weeks early as a result. I've read in a couple of my pregnancy books that it's hereditary, so I'll have to remember to ask him at my next appointment on December 30th.

I had a scan at 8 weeks and seen Beanies heartbeat! so fingers crossed AND my doppler arrived today! cant use it until my husband gets home on the 6th but i'll be 10+3 by then so it will be more likely to work! argh it is worse than trying not to test, its sitting there calling for me to use it!! Hope youre all well! :o) xox

I'm 13 weeks pregnant today. I am not feeling any different, my breasts don't really seem bigger and I have not developed a bump. Also my cramps have gone away for almost a week now, and so have my nausea. I am experiencing a bit heartburn/indigestion at night, though. Otherwise, I do not "feel" pregnant. I'm really worried because I've been reading about silent or "missed" miscarriages. I also do not have insurance and there is no place to help me get an ultrasound, so I can't figure out what's going on inside of me.

Should I be worried?

Just wondering when I might expect my MS to go. I started feeling nauseus right before :bfp: and had days with it and free days. Only started actually throwing up last week though. Thing is, (silly woman that I am), I do actually panic when I don't feel icky!! Though I also hate having my head stuck down the loo and having to go out from teaching lessons to chuck up.

When did yours go? I've heard it can go as early as 8 weeks and all still be OK with beanie. Anyone had it go this early? It would be quite a relief I suppose!

I am having to pinch myself at this - is there anything else that can go wrong?

I have internal bleeding inside my gestational and yolk sac, which is being monitored. Could go one way or another Ive been told - I just have to wait which is not massively reassuring.

So I went along to my bookin in with my m/w and done a sample for her, and as the title suggests, she said there's blood in it.

I have never had this before, and when I asked her what it could indicate, she pretty much blanked me, muttering something about posible infection but she couldnt say.

I have to give them another sample to send off to be examined, but wont get the results back for days and now I am really worried all over again.

Can anyone please help with this? Im losing my mind with this pregnancy, I feel so helpless.

Thanks for reading x

Has anyone else's nausea changed over the weeks?
It is difficult to explain what I mean, but weeks 4-6.5 mine was all linked to a horrid taste in my mouth, and linked to sense of smell.
Now the last week (6.5-7.5) it has felt different. I don't have the funny taste anymore, and sense of smell doesn't seem linked to it. Now it is more in my stomach, and feels like I do when I have a tummy bug or travel sickness.
I'm just intrigued to know if anyone else's has changed like this?

Hi, I am finding it hard what to eat, especially for lunch.

I used to take cold meat from the supermarket counter for my lunch but have read that I cant eat it. Also tuna but pregnant women are limited to how much tuna they eat, which worries me and I dont want to eat it.

Also at dinner time I love pasta but I also love putting parmesan cheese on it which is made from unpasturised milk, which is a no no.

Can anyone help. So far for lunches I have been taking soup, which I am getting fed up with.

Hi,

A few years ago I had laser treatment on my cervix as I had abnormal cells. I've read in my pregnancy book that this can cause problems in 2nd tri as the cervix maybe too short and so start to open when the uterus becomes bigger, causing you to miscarry.

I'm not too worried about it as I know it can be checked out & if it is too short, stitches are put in until you're ready to give birth. I just wondered if there are any ladies out there that have had laser treatment on your cervix, and whether this did effect the pregnancy in any way? How is it monitored? Did you have to have stitches?

Thanks :hugs:

Well, we decided to tell our families yesterday that we are expecting and everyone was so happy for us! It was a wonderful day. We had planned on waiting til after our scan next week but hubby's dad and step-mum were over from France and we wanted to tell them in person rather than over the phone and there was no way we were telling his family without telling mine. So they came to my parents' house for lunch and we told them all together. My wee daddy cried he was so happy and my gran just kept saying "I'm going to be a great gran!!" It was so nice to finally be able to speak to my mum about it all too although she'd guessed already.

We then went to have coffee with my sister and her boyfriend. My sister could barely contain herself as she'd already guessed too and apparently has been bending her boyfriend's ear about it for the past 2 weeks!!

Then it was off to hubby's mum and step dad's for dinner and to tell them too.

Everyone is sworn to secrecy for just now but they only have to keep quiet for a week! Surely even my mil can manage that!?!?!

ive got a 2 (nearly 3) year old daisy who i usually take to playgroups 4 times a week, every morning except thursday. But the last few weeks i have felt so rough i just havent had the energy to get up and get ready to go anywhere.

we get up i have a lie down, watch cbeebies and have something to eat, we go upstairs to get dressed, i have a lie down on the bed, we get dressed i have another lie down and this is pretty much how our day goes.

usually we have nice home cooked meals everynight but we have all lived on frozen food for the last few weeks, oh went shopping last week and asked what we needed, i said just get lots of pizzas, chicken nuggets and fishfinger and ham and cheese for sandwiches because thats all i can be bothered to cook! and lots of takeaways, it go so bad that last night my oh popped out to the shop and daisy said is daddy bringing back chinese food, when i said no she cried saying i want the man to bring my chinese food!

i was ok when i was having daisy cos robyn my dd1 was older and i lived opposite my mum n dad at the time so they looked after her a lot for me, but this time i live 100 miles away from my family, my mil is great but we havent actually told anyone that im pregnant yet and just think i have a bug thats going round, they must be thinkin wow that girl is really playing on this bug now what a hypocondriac!

oh is great aswell he cooks but only basic foods and cleans up but not to my standards!! and he keeps kids entertained etc but they just want mum sometimes.

i just feel like a really crappy mum and like my kids are being neglected,
cant wait to feel better but dont think that day will EVER come!!!:hissy:

Just a quick question about HCG.

I am newly pregnant with my second, (after M/C in August and several throughout the years) and I had my HCG tested. My results came back as "70" at 12 DPO. VERY newly pregnant. My doctor told me that the number was a little lower than she would normally like to see, but perhaps I was earlier in pregnancy than she thought. She's not my OB, just my family doctor. (I have to jump through hoops with insurance before I can see an OB.)
Does anybody have experience having their HCG levels tested or have some knowledge? I thought she would take another level at 48 hours, but she just said not to worry.

Thoughts?

Hi, new here and 12 weeks preg with 1st.....
I was just looking around the net at various info sites on the different stages and came accross one telling you how to measure your fundus height.
Only problem is, I can't feel anything? Has anyone else tried and not felt anything?
I have my 1st scan on Weds, and am now a little worried they won't find anything? may sound silly, as I did about 5 tests all :bfp: from weeks 4-6 and have felt very tired, nausious, v.sore bbs, dizzy spells, all usual preg symptoms. Haven't had any spotting, a few twinges down there which I take to be the uterus stretching.

Sry if its TMI... but yesterday afternoon and evening i noticed a little bit of pink/orangey streaked cm. I'm 9w, and havent seen this yet. I looked it up on google, and wasnt very reassured. I dont even have a date for a midwife appt yet, since they're still "deciding" who they're taking on that's due in July (only 3 midwives in the practice, and one is going on vacation... long story.)... so i cant even check with my mw or dr at an appt. My mom was a dr (now a psychiatrist), but has never been pregnant (i'm adopted), and says that she THINKS its normal... which scares me even more.

I should only worry if i have severe cramping and bright red blood ... right?

I can't decide whether to consider myself 5 wks and 3 days (from when i think i conceived) or just try to get it in my head that the midwife will say i'm further because of when my LMP started. What do you think? I don't think i ovulated until 3 weeks after LMP as opposed to 2 but it's annoying me that i can't work out my EDD and decide for definate how far i am. I think the docs/midwife will prob just say its from my LMP anyway, what do you think? x x

Last night we hung out with three friends. One is pregnant, two just had babies in October. So we're the odd one out (no one knows we are pregnant). So now that the stage is set.

20 minutes of the two babies looking at each other while the mothers cooed at how cute they were interacting, and took photos.
Another 15 minutes of the pregnant one looking through the new baby photos recently taken.
A discussion on daily photo taking to see growth (which while I think is a cute idea, I really wasn't in the mood for). Baby clothes sales. Discussion about cute baby calendars you can make.
Dinner - with more discussion about babies.

More discussion about how cute the two babies were. Comparing the babies feet and body size.

And then everyone went home.

I understand that new mothers and fathers are excited and love their children. I know I'll want to just hold my lil baby for hours. But, will I dominate every conversation with baby talk, and baby play? Will world politics, sports, and the general daily conversations not be worth discussing? Will I be completely insensitive to those who don't have kids, or are TTC??

Well, tomorrow I will be 6wks + 4days pregnant and I will be going for my 2nd scan at the EPAU to see if our baby has a heartbeat.

As most of you know, I have been bleeding brown (and the occasional light pink) on and off now for 11 days so far. The positives are that I have very sore (.)(.)s, lots of gas, indigestion, nausea and bloating.

I just want to say that regardless of the outcome tomorrow, so many of you have been a great support. Your replies have all helped me to get through each day.

I feel like I have been on a rollercoster. At times I have been convinced that I am no longer pregnant and at times I am so sure that our baby is safe and well. We shall see tomorrow. Please cross your fingers for us at 9.30am!!! xxx

Hi Everyone,
Firstly let me say HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to all that have had their magical :bfp:s. I hope you're all feeling well and have been blessed with super sticky beans.

Where to start?
I thought I had my ovulation dip in temp last weds (cd17) followed by a nice rise on cd18. At lunchtime thou I started light bleeding with quite a few small clots in it. By the evening the clots had got considerably less in number but (sorry tmi) there was definate patches of ew/jelly cm within the loss. For the last 3 days I've had brown spotting whilst all the time experiencing cramps and sore boobs. My GP suspected a water infection and gave me 3days of antibiotics, 2 down 1 to go, but still the cramps remain.
I must add at this point the brown spotting is quite common from around cd18/19 although never light bleeding with clots, cm and cramps with sore boobs.
It's the first month of charting my bbt so not really sure what to make of my chart at the mo, please feel free to take a peek.

I was just wondering if anybody had experienced the same thing and had gone on to get a :bfp:

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and I'd love to hear what everybody thinks?

Lisa xxx

Sorry to have a moan, but i feel so fed up at the mo, I'm just gone 8 weeks, not showing at the mo, hardly any symptoms part from sore boobies and a bit tired, and am awaiting dating scan letter and i know i wont get scan till another 4 weeks. Its driving me insane not knowing whether bubs is ok or indeed there at all. Think i'm going to get a private scan done even if it costs me 100 quid, the suspense is killing me and making me a bit depressed.
Does anyone else feel like this or is it just me? I think 12 weeks for a first scan is WAY too long, actually way out of order, making us wait and worry for 3 months is ridiculous.
Thanks for reading and sorry to moan, hope everyones ok xxxx:hugs:

Hi All,
When I went to go to bed last night I noticed that there were two spots of brown blood in my underwear. Up until now, I've had nothing other than lots of clear CM. Well, I went to the bathroom and when I wiped there was a little bit more CM but it had the brown colour to it.

When I woke up this morning and went to the bathroom, my CM wasn't quite as brown but it's not really clear anymore.

I'm really worried because this is how my miscarriage started last time.

I've got a scan booked for Wednesday and an appointment with my obstetrician already booked for Monday. Do you think it's worth going in to the hospital or am I overreacting?

I have written this thread so many times and deleted it before posting.. I guess after last night I have to write it all down.

I don't expect any replies, but it's eating away at me and I really have to get it out.

OH and I have a wonderful set of friends. They are fun and loving and kind and we supprt each other through everything. OH has known them for a while (about 5 years) but we've only been seeing a lot of them in the past 1.5years I guess. Now we all see each other all of the time. They are part of the reason we decided to move 'south of the river'.

There are 3 couples (that includes OH and I) and 4 single people. Of the single people there is one girl in particular who is a constant nightmare.
Don't get me wrong, we all love her to bits, but she's a pain in the rear end at times, doesn't have a 'normal' filter on her mouth and is pretty much babysat by the rest of the group.

Just to put a bit of context in for you... we are all aged 30 to 39. This woman is 37.

So, she tends to come out with some really shocking things... usually when she's had a drink, but not always. For example - she's said to one of the girls in the group...'if you lost a few pounds, you'd look far more attractive'

We're kind of used to these flippant remarks and although I find them shocking, I'm constantly told by OH and the rest of the group that 'that's just what she's like' and 'we all know what she's like, you just get used to it after a while'.

This is really where my problem begins. She has said some really quite nasty things to me over the time I've known her and I'm finding it very hard to let it wash over me. To the point now where it's getting serious.
In the past she has said to me. 'You never make anything of yourself', and 'you always look like sh1t, why don't you make a bit of effort' (I do) and 'you're nothing but cold and unapproachable' (I have been told by lots of people that am trustworthy and they are glad to have me as a friend because they could tell me anything'.

Anyway, back around 4 weeks ago, we all went out for a friend's birthday. She arrived 4 hours late by which time we had all eaten and the kitchen was closed (it was a Sunday). She got annoyed saying 'is no-one eating with me then?' got herself a bottle of wine and drank the whole lot on an empty stomach. She got wasted.
She then proceeded to climb on me, keep pointing at my (by this point very sore) boobies, touch them, and squeeze them. Then the biting started. the more I tried to calm her down, the more she bit me (on the face) and climbed on me.
By the time we left the pub and found a black cab, I was quite upset and my boobies were really hurting. In the cab she continued to act this way until I got both of her hands, put them in her own lap and told her to 'fuck1ng pack it in, you're hurting me and it's not funny'. Just to say that I had been nicely asking her to stop all evening and everyone else just looked on and did nothing to help.

So that was that. Then 2 weeks ago, we went to see a friends' band play... by the time she met OH and I she was again, off her trolley. (It was just the three of us going out as a couple of others couldn't make it).
When I told her that I was 'ill' and wasn't drinking she said 'oh, you're so f*cking boring'.
The day after the gig, I planned to have the girls in the group around for Christmas card making. Whilst we were at the gig she says, I'm going to come later in the day, put some nice clothes on you, do some make-up and take some nice pictures of you because all of the pictures in your house are crap'. I told her that i didn't know what time people would stay until and maybe that would be best for another day. 'Don't fool yourself, everyone will leave early'. I tried to ignore her and kept telling her, 'we'll see what happens' but she kept pushing and pushing. In the end I said 'Would you stop bossing me around? I told you we'll bloody see what happens'.
To which she got all shitty, rolling her eyes etc.

I went over to speak to a friend leaving her and OH together chatting. When I saw she'd gone for a ciggie and left OH alone, I went back over and OH told me that she had said...

'When your and Pickle had your engagement / her 30th birthday party she told me that I wasn't allowed to dress up because she was the only one who was allowed to look pretty.'

I NEVER EVER, EVER said this. I am not that kind of person at all. she also told OH a few other lies about me, but it's turning into a long post!

In fact what happened was before our party, she said
'you can't go in black because you always wear black... I'll take you shopping so that you look the best out of everyone - it's your night - you should look the best'.
I said to her at the time,
'I already have an outfit, yes it is balck, but if I went wearing anything else, it wouldn't be me!'

Last night (the first time I've seen her since she stormed out of the gig) we went out for drinks for another mate's birthday. OH had to go out to another friends house for a poker night leaving me with all of our friends. anyway, as soon as he had gone, 2 of the girls in the group started talking to me about this girl... and it turns out that she has told them the same lies about me.

I am seriously heartbroken. I don't know what I've done. I don't know what else she's been saying about me. I've been crying all night as OH stayed out.

She making sound like a horrible person by spreading lies. I really don't need this right now and I'm at a loss of what to do.

Thanks and well done if you got this far... but I needed to get this out. It's making me so upset.
OH tells me to ignore her because 'that's just what she does' and one other friend in the group who I have spoken to about it says the same. No-one will help me and they just expect me to ignore it. I simply can't do that.

So here's my situation. I'm currently 10w3d and just had a doctor's appointment. I was really hoping to hear the heartbeat but she tried for a minute or so without any luck. She said it was too early and I have another appointment in a few weeks to try again. I had a scan at 7w1d and saw the HB then (141 BPM). I've had no spotting or major cramping and the usual symptoms.

We'd like to tell people soon but I just don't know.. We're planning on sending the news in our annual Christmas letter (which will have to go out soon) but I'd hate to send it to everyone and then have something go wrong.

BTW, we've already told our immediate family so I'm talking about extended family and friends.

Thoughts? Advice?

Hi, I got my bfp on monday and ever since then I had pains in my left hand side, like a constant stitch. This morning when I got up I had a brown discharge on my knickers but not when I wiped. I also felt very dizzy.

I phoned the doc who got the mw to phone me and the mw ordered me to go straight to the hospital.
When I got there they said the pains I was having could have been an ectopic pregnancy and also a urine infection so they sent me for a scan.

My last period was 21st october making me 5 weeks and 4 days. They said the scan may not show anything.
They tried a normal ultrasound but then had to do an internal scan.
I was told that the sac was there and the fetal pole but no yolk. I was told I may be earlier in my pregnancy than what I thought. But I thought they always calculated how far on you are from the first date of your last period, am I wrong?

Has anyone ever had a scan at 5 weeks or before and what did they see.
Also I got told I have a cyst on my right ovary but was told it is nothing to worry about. I was aksed if I was coughing up phelgm which tonight I have. Does this maybe mean I am dehydrated which could be causing the pain?
Please help as my next scan is 11th dec and I am really worried.

OK: another silly question from me.
I seem to be sneezing a lot in the past couple of weeks. I don't have a cold, and it's not an allergy, unless I am allergic to PG hormones, so not got a clue what is causing it.

1. Anyone else found they are sneezing lots for no reason?

2. Is it dangerous to my beanie? I am someone who can get stress incontinence from sneezing if I have a full bladder (sorry for TMI) and everytime I sneeze I really feel the strain on my tummy and pelvic muscles. Am I going to sneeze my beanie loose if I keep on sneezing loads? I know it sounds daft, but I just needed to check up.

Hi

I had my booking appointment today and midwife put me a 9w2d which I think is wrong. She used LMP which were really eratic as I just stopped pill and had pos ov 5 days after af started!

Anyway I had early scan due to pains and was 5w6d then which would make me 11w today.

Anyway for those that have had mw edd, and a scan which date was more accurate you mw's estimate or scan?

I have another scan in 2 weeks so will know for sure but am convinced she is wrong. Anyone?

Ok, so here's the deal. I want to know if there's a chance I could be pregnant. I think there is, but I want to be sure. Because if there is, I need to make some changes. And fast. Here's the background story:

I went on birth control about a month after having my son. I was on it steadily until this past month, so I was on it for about 5 months. This month I went to get my prescription refilled and the pharmacy was closed. I had to wait until the next day where they told me that my insurance wouldn't cover it and the Medicaid system was down. So I had to wait two more days to get it and by that time, I would have had to take the pills in the pack until sunday and then get a new one. My pharmacy won't give me a new one though because it was not the end of the month. So I couldn't take my birth control this month and I can't start it again until I get my next period.

The Here and Now:
Needless to say, my boyfriend and I do not use condoms. We're used to me being on the birth control. I did not hide the fact that I'm not on BC this month from him, but we still didn't make a very good effort to use other protection. Now I'm having some pregnancy symptoms. My breasts are sore, I'm getting dull cramps in my lower stomach, I'm getting nauseous relatively easily (especially when I think of mac & cheese, my favorite food, or when I smoke), I'm getting headaches a lot, I'm tired all the time, and I seems to be peeing a lot.

The Question:
Is this probably a pregnancy or all in my head or just symptoms from coming off the birth control?

Hi everyone. I am new to site. I think I about 9 weeks gone now my due date is 2nd July. I have my first scan 22nd December but have been felt a bit abandoned by the NHS. I have had nothing from them to tell me what to eat /do. That what I am feeling is normal.

I can't really talk to my family as they are not happy about the baby. I haven't been able to eat properly now for 3 weeks and have lost a lot of weight about 1.5 stone in 3 weeks. I am extremely bloated to the point that I look about 5 mths pregnant and I know it’s not bump. I am struggling to drink water / juice / pop anything it just makes me feel sick to look at it

Just feeling really emotional and can't stop falling asleep at my desk at work. Feels like I am moaning all the time (I think I am) but I am getting so frustrated and depressed with the emotional and physical drain I am experiencing!

I think I just need someone to talk to or slap me and tell me to pull myself together !!!!

Hi
I am off sick at the moment with pain and ms and had to phone my boss today to give her an update. My boss says they are struggling without me and basically wants me back in the office on Monday which i know there is no way I can do. It's made me cry probably because I am feeling so emotional but there was so little understanding. I am actually signed off next week by my Dr so don't have to worry from that point of view but my boss is making it very difficult for me. DH has been away all week so I am on my own and hadn't anyone to share my feelings with. Thanks for reading.

It finally feels real and I can't wait to tell everyone who will listen! 12 week scan is on Dec 15th, still not heard from the midvives but i'm sure they will be in touch pretty soon. Argh, this is really happening!!!!!!!
They sent me down for the scan another internal, I was prepared for the bad news as I had mild cramps too.

well she started the scan and straight away there on the screen was our baby with a heartbeat:yipee::yipee::yipee:

The baby is 4mm which makes me just over 6 weeks, so the babys measuring as it should:cloud9:

I still cant believe what I saw, she had a good look around and could'nt find a reason for the bleeding and the mass in tube has also gone:happydance:

She also let me have a scan picture as OH wasnt there which hopefully I will be able to post later.

Am still in shock as I didnt expect to see anything, the bleed has now stopped again, just a little brown discharge, so there not worried and av got a weeks bed rest.

Although I have open access to the ward they dont need to see me anymore and to wait for my midwife to arrange for my 12 week scan:happydance:

Although she hasnt been in touch yet!!!

I know its still early days but am a lot more positive now

Just so pleased to post some good news on here and thank you all for all the support you have given me:hugs:

Good Luck to all you lovely ladies:friends:

Im just wondering, is it necessary to see a doctor early on, or is it ok to just see a practice midwife at an initial appointment? I didn't go about things the orthodox way, as I was spotting early on and managed to get an early scan booked at the EPAU of the hospital I work at, but now that the scan showed everything fine, theyve said I should take it up from here with my GP practice. They also said I have the option of 'total care' at the hospital, but would first need to get referred by my practice.
When I called the Surgery for an appointment, they just asked if I wanted to see a doctor or a midwife and I assumed it should be a midwife, so i booked an appointment to see one on 10th December.

At the EPAU, they only checked my Haemoglobin, Blood pressure, pulse and temperature, because I'd been very breathless with palpitations, but no other investigations were done. When can I expect things to be dealt with more thoroughly, i.e. a detailed history, thorough examination and further investigations?

The pregnancy book Im reading only talks about my 'doctor' and it seems all this should have been done during the first or 2nd month latest.

Sorry but Ive had no guidance whatsoever on what the norm is. IS it ok that I never end up seeing my GP at all throughout pregnancy if all goes well?

Please do reply, as I still have time to book a quick appointment with the GP if need be.

Thanks so much!
