Obsessive Much?

I've put off starting a LTTTC diary long enough, it's time I stop thinking I can keep my mind off it and embrace my obsession

I've been going through one of those "Ain't no thing, I'm taking a break" moments, I'm sure all of you TTCers know about them but it's sadly gone and last month I peed on too many sticks to keep the pretense up.

Very long drawn and boring background for those not too bored to hear it:

Month 1 to 1 billion: TTC naturally - name the ttc forum, the BD position, the charting, the herb or the slimy lubricant - we've tried it. Finally searched ourselves and discovered I'm okay -if with a huge BMI and recently NOT in my late twenties anymore- but the Future Father Of My Baby is azoospermic -meaning no sperm at all was found on two different tests-.

Month 1 billion to 1 billion and 2: 1st IVF abroad, privately in Spain. Started with great news as FFOMB's family jewelry was cut open and sperm was found (SSR - surgical sperm retrival) and 45% of his tissue was pronounced to be healthy and produce good sperm. I then had a short protocol with 300 ui of Puregon and produced 11 eggs and 8 of those were mature and injected with his sperm (ICSI) of which 6 fertilized and we were the proud parents of 6 good quality Credit Card embryos of which 2 were snuggled back into our womb. The lining of my uterus was only 6 mm at transfer and I later found out an 8 is mandatory. After a series of faint second lines and an inconclusive blood test we were told the result of the IVF is "possible early miscarriage"

So at the end of two months we found ourselves hurt physically, emotionally and financially but no closer to being parents.

Month 1 to 4 post Ist IVF: Having had a positive home sperm test we started hoping that maybe some of the 45% makes it out sometimes so we tried naturally like crazy again while waiting to be put on the list for our free try at IVF. We've also both stopped smoking -and been smoke free for 4 months now YAY!- and are eating healthy and gym-ing -mostly me and my BMI is still huge-.

This brings us to this past month when my AF was for the first time in my life after my pregnancy -years ago, not with FFOMB, not a baby- late and I had symptoms galore -bloody nose, cramps, dizzy, boobies pain, etc- but I started bleeding yesterday and after a good cry I decided that despite it almost certainly having been a chemical this once I've had enough of the heart ache and won't be trying naturally anymore. I'll simply focus on getting more and more healthy and lose weight and then put all my eggs in the assisted conception basket. Pun fully intended.

Appointments wise, we are still waiting for the free go people to give us an appointment and to try and speed things up we'll see a private clinic within the NHS one and see if they can't help advice wise at least. I'm also researching Egg Sharing as that would lower our cost if we tried another private go and, of course, Donor IUI because IVF/ICSI will only be getting one more shot from our part after which we'll get try the donor route.

Sorry it's this long but if anyone has any questions about any of these many procedures or is dealing with Male Factor or Azoospermia or just generally needs an IVF vent, step inside :)

I'm moving over from TTC to LTTC/AC.

I'm Natalie, I'm 37 and my DH is 46. We have a son who's now 4 and for the past 12 months or so we have been trying for #2. We have found out recently that Dh's SA reesults are not good with only 10% vitality and only 4% active motility.

So we are now going to begin the journey for #2 with assisted conception, hopefully by ICSI. :happydance:

I thought as today is CD1 of my new cycle I would begin my new journal today. I went to the doctor's and he will order my Day 3 tests once my next cycle starts (Day 3 this cycle being a weekend!!! :dohh:)

I also need to lose a lot of beef...my weight is now only 0.9kg under 90kg......a BMI of 35!!!!! How did that happen I ask myself!!!!:hissy:

Anyway, I now have 3 quests...one to lose weight and the other to begin the process of ICSI....as we have a son we will have to go privately and fund the ICSI ourselves so we are looking not only at a Fertility Clinic in Belfast, but also abroad.

Please feel free to comment, chat and add your opinions to this journal! :hugs:

DebsHopeful's Journal - The Life of an IUI er

Hi There,

Thanks so much for taking the time to read my journal.

DH and I have been TTC for a couple years now and in March 2008 we finally went for IUI/AI. I am 29 and DH is 35.
It was a last minute decision and so there was no time for medication and so had little hope that it would work but were relieved we were going to give it a proper go and had an appointment set up to do it all over again 4 weeks later. As it turned out the next appointment was spent looking at a scan of our baby.

Unfortunately it wasn't meant to be and at 13w1d the gynea picked up that the left side of his heart had not developed and his nuchal fold was 0.89 when it should have been less than 0.3 and so we were told that he would only live to about 6 months in the womb and we would have to terminate the pregnancy.
Our world fell apart and saying good by to our gorgeous little baby was the hardest thing we have ever had to do
09/05/2008 IUI #1 = BFP Baby lived to 14w1d 04/08/2008

I had a D&C which I found out 4 weeks afterwards was incomplete and my HCG level was still a wopping 124,000.
I then had an ERPC and the physical road to recovery was drawing to a close, the emotional road was only just beginning.

Almost 4 months on and we are still trying. Perhaps you will be able to read what I am doing and learn from my mistakes,
or hopefully what I am going to get right in the end.

Well, I finally feel ready to start my LTTC journal.

Just a bit of background....

I'm 33 and dh is 31 and we've been ttc since Jan 07 (off birth control since Sept 06). We have had all the tests showing that my body is working normally, but dh has problems with his sperm - 5% morphology (needs to be 15%) and 44% viability (needs to be 75%). He will go back for a 2nd test on 16th Jan next year.

If we get a good result next time I get to go onto clomid, if not its going to be the ivf waiting list. Cross fingers for option number 1.

I have decided that we will enjoy Christmas and see what the new year brings for us.

OK so today is my birthday so thought it would as good a day as any to start my TTC journal.

I'm 28 and DH is 29. We've been together for over 12 years now, living together for 4 years, married on 07.07.07.

I started taking bcp's when I got serious with DH when I was 15, had no problems until I got pg while still taking the pill when I was 20. As I was in uni and in the usual student debt we decided that neither of us ready to raise a child, and I had an abortion at about 9 weeks. I don't regret this decision even now - it was right for us at that time in our lives and because we both studied hard we're now in a good position to provide for a child both emotionally and financially.

I had a d&c which went fine and I healed fairly quickly. However I didn't ever want to have to make that terrible decision again so I swapped the pill for Depo Provera which my doctors said would suit me fine and I would just need to give my body a few months to recover before trying for children in the future (how naive I was to believe that witout researching!)

So the next 7 years on the Depo were ok, no periods but a few side affects - the 2 stone weight gain, occasional painful spots on my body/ face, and in the last year of the injections I noice my hair becoming thinner, which finally made my mind up that this was the time to stop the Depo. Last injection early June 07.

Had a beautiful wedding on 07/07/07 and on the plane journey to Kenya for honeymoon DH and I decided we wanted to get pg ASAP - always knew we had kids but always thought we'd wait a year or two after the wedding to try but we got right on it!

Since the depo wore off in Sept 08 I've had irregular periods, cycles from 12 to 39 days with bleeding from 1 to 14 days every so often periods come with horrible abdominal pains sometimes I don't even get mild PMS!

I've had the basic blood tests and swabs with no abnormalities found, but no sign of definate ovulation, except for July 2008 when I managed to get pregnant. Unfortunately it ended in an early miscarriage in August at about 6 weeks. Now I'm back to irreular periods!

Hoping to get my body back on track after Depo I have tried herbal rememdies and homeopathy and I'm trying to loose weight and get healthy to improve my chances. I'm fitter than I've been since my teens and have about a stone and a half left to loose to reach my ideal weight (lost about 2 stone already).

So that is my (long) story so far. It's really nice somehow to see it all down in black and white so I'll keep it updated and hopefully look back in 12 months and wonder why I was so worried that I'd never get my sticky bean!

Firsty i'd like to say hello to everyone in LTTC & AC & wish you all the very best of luck in your journies
I abandoned my TTC journal some time ago - for no real reason other than that at that time i didn't feel it was helping me. I'm going to try and stick with this one and remain positive. My turn will come!

Just to fill you all in on who this little butterfly is....I'm 23, married to an amazing man - who is truly my soul mate. We have been married for just over a year, and TTC for 15 months now.
Since beginning our TTC journey we have worked through lots of heartache and pain and watched many of our friends celebrate pregnany and birth and are now faced with watching their little ones grow up. Its been an emotional rollercoaster.......but i will not be beaten! Its not in my nature!!!!! For now this butterflys wings are a little broken, but they will fix and i will become a mummy and make my darling husband a daddy.

We are currently under a fertility specialist after numerous tests for me (one scan showing i had a hemmoragic cyst on my right ovary - the next one 6 weeks later showed it had dispersed) showing that all within me looks to be ok. My husband has his Sperm analysis this Thursday and we are absolutely dreading it. However we know it is the next hurdle in our journey and we will face it and deal with whatever the outcome.

I don't chart, i simply use clear blue "smiley" opk's. This works forme and allows me not to "obsess" too much. We've tried to uphold a relaxed view as much as possible but the more time that passes the harder this becomes.

You girls have been wonderful throughout this all, and i truly cannot wait to see you all get your bfp's.
Special thanks to HAYS, snowball, LU28 & sams mum for all the support they have given me. I am sure there is more, but i've always been bad with names!

My heart goes out to you all........you're ALL amazing :hugs:

Well I have decided it is time for me to start a TTC Journal. I have been putting it off for ages thinking that maybe this month will be the month, but it is time to face facts that it isn't!

A bit about me, I am 26 years old and my dh is 33, we have been TTC for 11 months now and I have PCOS. I am on Metformin and Agnus Castus as my cycles are really long and irregular.
I have had one appt with the doctor who told me I was still young and not to worry about it, I was gutted! So I have made another appt. with a different doctor in 3 weeks time and going to insist on something being done.
Last Sunday saw the start of my diet as well (with thanks to BnB Biggest Losers for there encouragement), just to tick that box and say I have tried it.

So, I thought it was finally time I got my bum into gear and got myself a journal!

For those of you who don't know, here's a little background on me and DH...

I'm 24 and DH is 27. We have been married for almost 2 years (where does the time go...) I was on and off Dianette (BCP) for approx 7 years and came off it altogether in August 2007. Since then my AF's have been all over the place, sometimes 4 or 5 months between them.

However, I expected this as my AF's have never been irregular and I always knew I would have problems ttc, even when I was alot younger - call it intuition maybe.

Anyway, after many unsuccessful trips to my G.P :gun: I went to see a different doctor for a second opinion and she immediately said I needed to be referred to a specialist (afetr blood tests etc).

This referral required DH to undergo two S.A, which we were told the results weren't great. We still don't actually know what the results were, but we were told we had little chance of concieving on our own :hissy:

So after waiting for ages to get an app through for the F.S, we finally have one for 13 Nov - next week!! Im excited but know that not much will happen initially, just tests and questions but it's a start.

So I thought this would be a good time to start my journal, and hopefully this time next year 'll be able to look back at it and wonder what I was worrying about when I'Ve got my :bfp:

Sorry bout the long thread lol

Well.... I have a few journals floatinng around in ttc land.... but I never used them and they are pants and Im pants at keeping a journal, but I thought I would start a new one anyways and see if 3rd times a charm.

I stopped counting what cycle of TTC im on. I kinda stopped caring.... I know that sounds sad and lame and mean... but it keeps me sane.

But as I stated in a post in LTTTC... Im starting to get the blues and Im starting to care again.

I really want a baby. I really want to be a mom. Im so ready for it..... I think its time to "Shit or get of the pot" or so they say. Im going to push myself to get the balls to follow through with my refferral to the infertility clinic. Im going to do it. I cant make excuses anymore. I cant be a mom and it wont happen for me if I dont do anything about it. So its my own fault.

So here is my adventure....well 3 years into it ........
