Right where will i start?
i had consultant apt on mon which i attended alone as hubby was away for work- as i said in another thread it left me qiute low.
ive tried speaking to hubby but tbh his head has bn firmly up his ass lately.
feel like im talking hes nodding nothings going in.
also we have a 7mth old german shepherd who i am struggling to manage with and worried how the hell ill cope when babes are here but ill not get into her.
so last night i mentioned how the dog had me run ragged again, his answer "your dog yr decision"
i was pretty pissed at this.:growlmad:
i then was trying to tell him that the pst for the aneasthetist had come through and told him the date, again he nodded then said "what, what aneasthetist??"
i asked him where his haed was and it turned into a heated discussion, i told him to bleep off and speak to me when he wanted to be supportive.
i sobbed my eyes out. he apoplgised and said he admitted hes not really bn very supportive and his head is firmly stuck up his ass.
i told him that i was petrified of this pregnancy, am scraed to be excited, feel as though no one understands how scary it is to carry two when faced with risks, and that i needed him to be a husband and listen when i try to tell him things.
he said he does care but possibly hasnt shown it.
anyway, im usually such a strong person but i felt i had to have a wobble as i felt my head was ready to burst. i feel better today although shattered from crying, but obviously the fears are still there.

has anyone else gone through the twin wobble????????:dohh:
please say im not the only one??

OK, so i gotta get all this out...

I am FREAKING about the c section on Wednesday! I had my final appointment today, the boys are healthy, fluid looks good, hearbeats are excellent and even elevating to a "normal range" which is awesome and we have passed the last 2 NST's.

And then it hit me... Holy shit. I am going into surgery the day after tomorrow. I am going to have my stomach cut open, they are gonna pull two human beings out of me (of whom I have been in complete denial about this whole pregnancy) and they are going to give them to me to take home... forever. All I have fought for... this is it. I am going to meet the two little men that made me fight fo their lives.

I am scared about the spinal. I am scared I will vomit during labor. I am scared about the recovery of a c section. I have heard mixed stories so I don't know what to expect as far as that goes. I am scared to meet my sons, as silly as that sounds. Its just been me and my daughter for so long, I am afraid that I won't bond with them the way I did with her. I am afraid of what my body will look like after babies and surgery. I know that must sound vain but I have always had a nice frame and I am a little sad to see it go, like saying goodbye to my youth, you know? I am scared of never getting to sleep again. I am scared to have 3 children... I am just scared.

If you guys wanna lend some advice or words of encouragement I would so appreciate it. I have turned to you ladies for every bump in the road during my journey and you have always been so amazing. Now I have reached my destination and I don't know what else I am supposed to do. What can I expect to feel?

Hey ladies ^^
So I'm trying not to stress myself out...but can one twin move to where I can't feel them hardly? Baby A I can feel just fine, but baby B's movements haven't been as frequent...I felt him flip one evening and ever since its not been much since then...I'm thinking of calling my OB just to ease my mind..probably will have to. Baby A rests on the right side of my stomach head down, and Baby B is bottom down on my left side.

I guess I'll just tell you what's going on with me and see what you ladies think. Well when I was ovulating, I had ovulation type pains on both sides. I got my BFP at 8 dpo which put me at 3 weeks. Now that I know I am pregnant, I have been having on and off ovulation type pains on both sides again. Do you think this could be a sign/symptom of twins? Also, I went and had a beta done the day after BFP on hpt and it was at 62.8 I went four days later and it was 656.9, doubling every 28 hours. Anyone had the same ovulation type pains on both sides?

Here's my hpt at 8dpo.

So I know I can't be the only person with a clothing dilemma. All of my maternity tops are too short. I purposely bought them really big (mostly XL), but I'm tall and they are all too short now. I started wearing my belly band under them in hopes that it looks like a tank top under my shirts, but it doesn't. Luckily it's winter and I can wear open sweaters to at least conceal the backside a bit. I'm not buying more clothes at 33.5 weeks, but I still need to look presentable at work. What did everyone else do once this happened? Advice and creative ideas please!!

Hi

Can anyone advise me on which changing bag is best for twins?

I have the Baby Jogger City Mini Double Pushchair, and it says on the handle not to hang bags from it. So I am also looking for advice from someone that has this pushchair and which changing bag you used. I am aware you can get buggy clips but not sure how these would work on this pushchair.

Many thanks x

I can't believe how fast the past year has gone, this time last year I was moaning that I couldn't sleep, couldn't walk any distance, and down below felt like the babies were going to fall out the pressure was so bad!!! And all that only seems like yesterday yet here I am planning Sam and Emily's first birthday party!!

I really can't believe how the time has flown, my babies eat everything in sight, one is walking, they copy us all the time and clap and say dada, they give kisses when asked, they can go up the stairs!!
I can't say it enough to new twin mums make the most of every minute and make time to just sit and enjoy being with them as it goes so fast!!

One thing I don't miss though from the past year!! Getting up in the night they both now sleep from 7pm until 6.30am heaven!!!!!

ITS OFFICIAL THEY ARE IDENTICAL! :happydance: I wanted fraternal so they could be one of each, but I'm surprised by how excited I still am!
At first I didn't think there was any visible nubs in the pictures, but then I noticed there might be one on the picture I posted from the side. Although the "nub" looks like it might be a little low to be the actual nub, and you can also see a little of the other baby by its rear, so who knows if its a nub or the other baby! I also have a fantastic front shot for skull guesses!

When I was pregnant I was so worried that I would be made to give formula as a top up, when I wanted to breastfeed.
My daughters lost 17% and 12% of their birthweight, and I was told I needed to top up or face them being re admitted. I could top up with expressed milk, but was so exhausted I couldn't find the time to express. One week down the line, I felt the girls were ready to be weaned off, but I was then perscribed antibiotics for my scar and was advised to keep topping up until course was finished. Anyway 3 weeks down the line and top ups are a thing of the past and the girls are exclusively breastfeeding, and having battled tongue tie and a poor sucking reflex.

I know it can feel like the end of the world when you hear formula top ups when set on breast, but hopefully this story helps x x

As I always say, if you can't breastfeed though, don't beat yourself up, happy mums mean happy babies x

Hey everyone, it's been a while since Ive been on so I just wanted to update and catch up with everyone. I'm due May 10th with boy girl twins and so far everything has been going great ( besides the pain when walking or sitting in hard chairs for to long). I think I passed my glucose test because I haven't heard back from my doc and it's been a week. Both babies are head down now and look great. Doc said he will be inducing me at 38 weeks if I haven't already delivered by then. So that will be April 26th. I think I have been having some Braxton hicks contractions because my stomach gets really hard and lots of pressure down below and sometimes quite painful but it usually only happens in the evening and when I've had a stressfull day. At last measurement 24w6 days I was measuring 32 weeks. I can't wait to meet my precious little babies and my older kids are super exited too. Even my husband can't help from going out and buying baby stuff lol!! Hope everyone is doing well!!

I try to pop on as much as I can, but really I can only check on you all from work - and work has been CRAZY the past 3 months. Don't have time to...

I try to pop on as much as I can, but really I can only check on you all from work - and work has been CRAZY the past 3 months. Don't have time to think, let alone catch up on some of my favorite web pages.

So work being busy, home is busy too. The babies just turned 7 months, and my big girls will be 2 in 19 days. Where does the time go? We have had a constant strain of colds being passed about since mid-December. We were lucky we got thru Christmas without any major illness, only to have January AWFUL with the big girls being on antibiotics for the better part of the month... the babies also being on the antibiotics and Mia can't shake her runny nose and night congestion. I can't wait for spring. I see my doctor's office more often than I'd care to admit. I'm BFFs with everyone there.

Because of the colds and illnesses, we have not had a great month for sleeping. It makes such a difference when I can get a couple nights of decent sleep... that hasn't happened in a long time. As a result, there are days when I cry myself to the office in the AM (good thing I don't put my makeup on until I'm in the parking lot there) and there are days when I just want to stay in bed. But I can't, we carry on, and I know that the low days only last a few days in a row... I have to just remember that. It doesn't help that my husband is Mr Crankypants when he doesn't get sleep either. We try to lean on each other for support but some days it's just easier to stay quiet about things that are bugging us. Again, lack of sleep is a horrible horrible thing.

But the girls -- besides being sick all the time -- are so beautiful and getting so big. Sam & Gabby are chatting up a storm and repeating everything we say. Sam has taken to saying, "K" all the time instead of "OK" -- sounds just like me. Want to go take a bath? K!

The babies are rolling around - Lauren finally decided to get cracking on the whole rolling thing and now loves it. They are both big babies and usually so happy. They make up for the evening "fussy period" by giving us smiles the rest of the day.

Hope all is well with you all. I think of you all often!

UPDATE: I've been weaned off the mag completely, allowed to get off the constant monitoring, lose the catheter, get out of bed and to have solid food. :happydance: I'm still contracting, so they're going to have me wait out the next couple weeks on bed rest in the hospital. But I'm still only a fingertip dilated and my waters are good. So although I'll be incredibly bored for the next few weeks, I feel incredibly relieved and grateful! Who knew having the ability to take a shower could feel so life changingly good! :haha:

Well hey there ladies :) Its been a very long time, going on for 9 months or so i believe?
Well my identical girls, who arent really identical at all, not to look at or personality wise, even though the shared one placenta they really couldnt be more different, in the last 9 months theyve gone from sharing a cot to being seperated which has proved to be the only hard thing in honesty, even though the cots are close they will not sleep for love or money, i have to get them off to sleep in bouncers then try and transfer to cot, its a nightmare, but other than that no problems, Eleanor has very very irritable skin, has to have steriod cream for it daily, its horrible, its a form of nappy rash, fungus, and as well as they has terrible dry skin and be bathed several times a day, hair dried then creamed, shes the happier of the two though, the most content, Poppi well Poppi is the devil in cute skin, she has the most angelic face but what lies beneath is a demon, waiting to unleash demolition to all in her path, one minute shes sharing a loving gaze you turn your back and shes biting your foot, eating the xbox control, changing chanel on the tv, almost strangling her sister by yanking her bib whilst Eleanor laughs, pulling her older sisters hair, my nans glasses, biting her fingers the works!! Poppi crawls and sits now where as Ellies a slow paced baby, just watches the world pass by and her sister destroy everything then look at her as if to pass the blame, we share toys evenly, leave the room and Eleanor stares at us as Poppi sits holding all the toys, They eat well, they have 4 teeth each now, however keeping food down isnt great, habit of spitting now as they think its hilarious, i have to wear my dressing gown to stop food from staining my clothes as it flies miles across the room, My husband doesnt dare do it, nor my nan for the sake of mess, however i rope my eldest daughter in to it haha! she loves to help and i love to not be covered in food :) as you'll see they dont really look the same, im yet to get bloods confirmed as theres a possibilty of shared conjoined placenta, but the midwives all said it doesnt matter how they look its how the egg split that makes them identical apparently, i dont care theyre healthy and i love them more than life its self, i dont sleep, rarely eat and still have a 23" waist :) but i love being a twin mum, its a walk in the park when your hearts in it, and whos heart wouldnt be in it, when you look in the eyes of the demons and angels we bring in to the world, and for those who find it hard, there are bad days, but we'll never have it any easier, we'll be worries and they'll be hard work every day of their life even when theyre married with kids of their own :) xxx ps the last two pics are of Poppi one before she noticed mobile and the second was a motion pic as she lunged for it lol !!

you hear loads of horror stories of how bad its going to me, so I thought Id let you know that I am enjoying it and its really not as bad as I imagined.

Dont get me wrong its NOT easy, and I really could do with a full nights sleep but its not really as terrible as I thought it would be.

Biggest problem for me is that i have a 25 month old toddler to give my attention to as well. AND going anywhere is a logistical nightmare, infact i have not tried to go out by myself with the three of them yet!

Day to day is fine though, we have a routine which my toddler seems to love (we never had one before).

We are all full of the cold right now and its difficult holding them both and a toddler and sometimes at feeding time one will have to cry for a bit until i am able to get the first one feeding (i generally prefer feeding them separate but sometimes you have to feed them at the same time).

I dont have any hints or tips but the last 10 weeks have gone by soooooooo fast, there have been tears along the way but I can honestly say I am loving it.

I did clomid and ovidrel this cycle I found out I was pregnant 10 days after the trigger. Had my first u/s today and I'm 4 weeks and 5 days. She also told me I ovulated off both sides. Will go back in a few days for another u/s. so what I'm asking is what's my possibility of twins. They could barely see one today but were shocked to see even that being this early. Has anyone ever experienced this before?

I know this is normal to some degree since they are running out of room, and it seems like I get right to the brink of panic and then one will move or get the hiccups.

I am looking for some brutal honesty mamas!!!

I think I have gotten so used to feeling so big and miserable, I forgot what being normal is like... like, jumping out of bed in the morning, or being able to hold my pee until arrive to my destination, you know... normal.

I wanna know how did you FEEL after delivering twins? The answer can be how you felt physically, emotionally, or both. Can you describe the feeling the moment the babies came out (c section or otherwise)? What about a week after their birth? Do you even remember feeling tired or miserable once they are born?

There really is no wrong way to answer this question, as everone is unique and I just LOVE reading all about your experiences. My c section is in 10 days and I really could go into labor anytime since I am considered full term this week. I guess I am just lookin for some motivation to get me through the last push (hahahaha, pun intended!)

Hi I am only 20 weeks but wondered when you all packed your hospital bags ready.

I was speaking to someone the other day who has twins and said that really from 28wks you can go any time. That put the fear of god in me as I am so not organised. The nursery still has bikes paint tins etc that should be in the garage but thats not finished yet. I've not bought the drawers or sleepsuits yet. My aunt still has the crib, i've not ordered buggy don't have bottles etc you get the picture right?

Also in your bags how many sleepsuits and vests did you pack for twins?

I seem to be getting myself in a panic probably for nothing but I'm feeling this way all the same.

So far I have (not for hospital lol)
280 nappies
10 pkts of wipes
1 bottle of baby bath
1x sterilising boots sterilising unit with 3 bottles (not the ones I intend to use)
6 vests (first size)
10 bibs
2 changing bags (had 1 from last time which is in excellent condition and 1 free with pampers from boots to give me a change should anything get spilled)
2 car seats (still to get a bigger car though to fit the 6 of us lol)

soo hi ladies, i think ive only posted a thread in here once maybe. i never know wat to say lol

i guess il just give you a bit of an update on my twin preg.:flower: lol

well im now 24+3 :happydance: was counting down the hours to 24weeks.

went for a routine scan on friday (yesterday) and found out both sexes :)

so im having a boy and a girl :happydance: they are both doing great and weighting aprox around 1lb6oz at the mo. although the girl is the greediest :haha:

i saw my consultant after my scan and old him id had a few cramps on wed and thur night. he sent me to the mat ward to hav a trace done and it picked up a few little contractions but nothing to be alarmed or worry about, he also aterted me on steriod injections for the babies lungs. id 4 doses 6 hours apart. dame they wer stingy  :haha:

as my first little boy (who was 1 last week) came 3 weeks early they are taking no chances with the twins and just being extra cautious with me.

thanks for listening ladies. anyone else had pains, pressure and steriods at 24weeks? xxxx :hugs:

*mini rant alert*

Why do some people think you won't be able to do stuff just cos it's twins:growlmad:

Apparently as several people have told me they don't think I'll be able to breastfeed cos I'm having twins:wacko:Now I have 2 boobs which both conveniently have nipples so why would having 2 babies make this impossible. I know it'll be hard but I would imagine bf one baby is hard! I sometimes think people think I'm having a litter of dalmation pups rather than 2 babies:dohh:

In other wise words I'll not cope and will need to get rid of my dog just cos it's twins

I'll also need to have a 3rd child now apparently cos it's not boy/girl twins
And can't possibly be happy with 2 same sex children:dohh:

Sorry but just had to get that off my chest:haha: xx

Just to let you know our twins Cruz Leslie & Seth Russell Curry arrived very quickly and safely naturally on Wed 25th Jan birth story, pics and extra details to follow. Heading home tomorrow. All doing well and very happy

**UPDATE** BIRTH STORY
Well girls it was all very quick for me!! Glad that we live close by (literally a 2 miute walk) to my local private hosipital!!
At 12.30am on Wednesday morning 25/1/12 I was in bed and felt a slight thud down there followed by a contraction. I proceeded to get myself out of bed, go to the toilet where I had a small gush then a small amount of leaking in my pad. I called the hospital at 1.10am to let them know I was getting contractions every 9 mins or so had some leaking etc. The midwife told me to organise the sitter for the other kids and not to rush but get there within the hour. In the meantime while speaking to her my contractions were starting to come quicker about every 6 mins or so and then I was also getting an almost half contraction in between these.
My mother in law arrived at 1.20am and we headed off to the hospital, I didn't think it was a good idea to hang around at home as my pain was increasing and the contractions were now about 5 mins apart with the middle contraction also happening, not for as long but the strength was there.
We arrived at the hospital and the midwife knew i was in full labour, I told her my last labour was pretty quick approx 2 and a half hours. She settled us straight into our room and asked if she could check my pad for wetness and if I could use the toilet to check my urine. I told her that I could and headed to the bathroom.
I told the nurse I had opened my bowel after my first contraction and felt that I could do this again. My contractions were coming a lot quicker and harder now lasting longer too! I made it back to the bed and she asked me to lay on my side so she could put the monitor on to check the babies.
This is when I felt I needed pain relief and asked for an epidural as my doctor had wanted me to have one in case he needed to turn twin 2. She called my doctor straight away and then gave me the gas for some relief. I felt the need to start to push, this is where it all got very intense and surreal and I knew that it would be happening soon.
Next thing I know my doctor has arrived and he is trying to tell the nurse position of twins to put monitor around my belly, he tells me he is going to put a monitor on twin 1's head. That's when he said to me, I think we're ready to have these babies if you feel the need to push do it. And so I did, 2 big pushes and Cruz Leslie arrived safely at 2.10am weighing in at 7lbs 2oz (3240g) 50cm long 34cm head circumference. They placed him on my chest and then I started contracting again.
At this stage the nurse was putting in an iv to put in syntocin to keep contractions going but they were happening and I just tried to focus and keep breathing. They took Cruz as I needed to push again, 2 pushes and Seth Leslie was born at 2.16am weighing 6lbs 11oz (3040g). They placed him on me, then took him quickly. He needed a blast of oxygen to clear amniotic fluid which he bought up straight away and there were no issues.
I found the birth of the placentas probably harder, i lost a bit of blood and they had to insert a catheter and i passed a few large clots but within 20 mins or so I was feeding Cruz while they attended to Seth. I started to feel nauseous and my body went into a little shock from everything happening so quickly and the blood loss but I felt a lot better after a few hours of sleep and some breakfast.
We have been home 1 night and things are so far going good. I am breastfeeding which is going great, I plan to pump as well so hubby and kids can help out. Only had our daughter home with us last night so haven't had a full house yet with 5 kids but that will be tomorrow night! So I will update and let you know how it goes!
I absolutely adore my little boys, they are an absolute blessing and it's hard to believe I carried both these perfect little beings inside me.
Hope I haven't droned too long!! :dohh:

Hi all,

Well I had convinced myself that I had one of each in there and my kids were hoping for 1 of each too. But found out at my scan on Wednesday that I am having 2 boys! I was shocked, really did expect to be told one of each lol but she assured that it was definitely 2 boys.

My son is already planning what tricks and pranks they can all get up to on their big sis! My daughter has now decided that it is going to be better for her now as she will be the only girl. Because her friend that has 3 brothers has told her that she gets spoilt because she is the only girl lol.

Still getting used to the idea of 2 boys myself, evan out shopping 2day I picked up baby girl clothes to look at and then realised what I had done! It was hard enough trying to come up with 1 boys name! now I have got to think of 2! I'm onto 4 weekly scans now so looking forward to my next scan and seeing the babies again (think I will get them to check def 2 boys lol just to make sure). :happydance:

Omg I can't believe it my little girl is walking!!
She has been taking the occasional step since she was 10.5mnts but now at 11mnts she is on her feet all the time and has literally stopped crawling altogether.
It's amazing how different they are though, Sam the little boy is not even attempting to try he just sits there and watches his sister.

Just out of curiosity What age did you twins walk at? Do you think girls are faster than boys? Anyone else with different sex twins notice a difference between theirs?

Just thought id give an update on my little girlies. The smaller of the two , Ainslie, has surpassed her birth weight (was 5lbs8oz, now 5lbs13oz) and the bigger one, Clara, is almost back at her birth weight (was 5lbs14oz, now 5lbs13oz). They are doing fantastic and I am loving this so much!

I had been supplementing with formula, but stopped on Monday morning and am now ebfing! I just figured out tandem bfing yesterday with the help of my ez twin pillow. It took a while to figure it out but is SO worthwhile. I'm actually bfing both babies A's I type this on my iPhone.

The hardest part for me has been my 2 yr old son. Despite my attempts to spend time with him, he has been acting out and has even tried to hit the babies a couple of times. He's still in daycare 3 days/week, but we'll eventually wean him off daycare and im scared of how I'll manage all three of them on my own.

Who would have guessed that 2 newborns would be easier than one usually lovely little boy?

So I am 35 weeks and just realized that I still have 2 MORE WEEKS before my c section!!! I have frequent Braxton Hicks but have not passed anything indicating that labor is on the horizon and I just... feel.. DONE!!!!

I know its best if they stay inside but I am overwhelmed by the Dr's appointments and the stress. My spine aches to be straighted, my hips are on fire, my ribs feel like they about to burst. I feel the urge to pee every 5 min... so much so I am scared I will have an accident everytime I stand up to begin the long journey to my bathroom.. but when I sit on the toilet I manage to pass only a few dribbles. No UTI, just full of babies.

Last night I was over tired. I was so happy to crawl into bed after a long day and my hubby, bless him, strategically placed all 14 pillows in the center of the bed before riding the couch. I instantly found a comfy position and closed my eyes. After 5 seconds on bliss, Baby B cuddled up under my ribs cutting off my oxygen. I panicked and flew out of bed. Its 2 am and I am hurling pillows at the wall because I DONT WANNA DO THIS ANYMORE!!! My hubby got frustrated with me which sent me overboard. I ended up in the recliner all night, and due to the stress, was riddled with a night full of nightmares that woke me up in tears every hour.

I am scared. I am tired. I am frutrated because no one I know can relate too how I feel. I hate sitting all day, every day in a recliner watching day time TV and checking FB every 10 min. I miss holding my daughter and having fun with her. I want to get up and cook something wonderful. Just once I want to have a conversation without discussing my bodily fluids and private parts with a friend. I would love to hear from a friend. I would love to talk on the phone without getting out of breath. I want, JUST ONCE, for my hubby to rub my back AND my feet (with lotion!!!) without me feeling like a massage whore. I miss sex.

Do you guys wanna chime in? I know its for the best, but 2 weeks feels like an eternity and anyhing beyond that is the unknown for me. How are you guys feeling?

i am 8+3 and at the scan today found out that twin b is alot smaller than the other twin... one is 18mm and the other is 8mm. She basically said that there isn't much hope for twin b and time will tell. i am going back for a scan in 10 days.. both strong heartbeats and have doubled in size from last scan 10 days ago.. (they were 9mm and 4mm).

i am strangly feeling really optimistic..but want to know if anyone else has had a similar experiences and what the outcome was?
oh yes they are identical..

I know you ladies probably get this alot but I am looking for advice/ past experiences. I am 9w2d had my 1st ultrasound @ 7w2d which clearly showed one baby with a healthy heartbeat!! HCG at that time was 112,000 and was 128,000 48hrs later. had another ultrasound yesterday 9w1d which again showed 1 baby but as the Dr. was finishing up ultrasound we (myself, OH, and Dr.)spotted what appeared to be a 2nd heartbeat (one above and to the side of the other) I of course freaked!!! Dr says he thinks it from baby moving although both were visible at the same time. I am being sent to a high risk Dr they say for precautions.
Is it possible that it is in fact twins or did they just pickup a pulse from the umbilical cord? I was/ am not hoping for twins as this will be my 6th child. My 4th pregnancy was twins although it was a vanishing twin. with that pregnancy there was 2 sacks this time there is only 1 and only one baby that I can see. Dr. states his machine isn't very detailed and both ultrasounds have been abdominal not vaginal. could that make a difference or am I worrying for nothing? I have heard of babies hiding but thought it was rare. Any advise is appreciated.

Late term amnio... NO THANK YOU!!!

Has anyone had a late term amnio to check for lung development? The Dr said this is done sometimes in twin pregnancies and I am thinking of refusing...

Has anyone had a late term amnio to check for lung development? The Dr said this is done sometimes in twin pregnancies and I am thinking of refusing it for a couple reasons.

#1. Needles FREAK me out and I am scared. I had the amnio fluid checked after my laser surgery at 20 weeks and they said everything came out ok. This was done under anesthesia... the thought of having a needle inserted into my stomach without meds disturbes me.

#2. I have Rh negative factor and recieved Rhogam injection at 28 weeks. I was told amnios can really affect the pregnancy esp if there is a blood issue which brings me to #3...

#3. I would hate to have something go wrong this late in the game. I have made it to 35 weeks when I was told I possibly wouldn't. I have fought and fought HARD! If they are born right now, I would expect NICU time so what else could this benefit? My boys dont always do their fetal breathing on their BPP's right away, but they eventually pass the test and we are sent home.

So would I be terrible if I refused the late term amnio? I have agreed to everything else up until this point. What would you guys do in my situation? Thanks!

Hope you don't mind, I'm hoping over from ttc after loss!! I decided to come over and check you gals out because I'm a little worried I may be joining yall. My doctor put me on clomid due to late ovulation (cd25+) and short lp(8-10 days) so here I was thinking that after 5 miscarriages (one successful DD) I would love to have twins...plus my DH and I decided that our next successful pregnancy will be our last, we have been through too much and truth be told if I have more than 1 more miscarriage there might not be another baby anyway...so since I only get 1 more pregnancy I thought twins would really be a miracle, but after reading some of the posts here, I'm actually kinda terrified of it now! Not that anyone has been really complaining or anything and I hope this isn't coming off as judgmental or rude, but after reading what some of you have been going through I actually feel a little guilty for wishing for twins now, it seems there's alot more to it than I realized. Just out of curiosity were any of you on clomid when you concieved your twins? Also were any of you fertile before the clomid? I do get pregnant easy, I just can't carry and I'm not sure but I think that ups my chances of twins. Anyway sorry to ramble and I hope no-body takes this wrong, I know all of you are madly inlove with your LO's, just trying to prepare myself is all. THanks Ladies!:hugs:

i may sound nuts here but im 11 wks with twins, and over the past couple of days ive felt a funny popping sensation in my tum, always on my left side, it feels really deep within and doesnt follow with a pump:blush: so cant imagine its gas. i do get the gas pops but this doesnt feel the same, its more like a popping flutter and happens a few times in a row. i felt my son at about 18/19 wks, so was wondering what the likelihood was that it could be the babies already. i, probably just going crackers:wacko:. ive got my 12 wk scan next mon, and im praying both are fine.

Sorry to gatecrash

Just wondered if any of you have had experiences of the First wheels city twin?

LO will be 20 months when baby arrives & I'm looking for a side by side pushchair with parent facing options. Needs to be able to withstand approx 5 miles of walking a day - just school runs, standard paths not particularily rough terrain. The First wheels seems to fit what I'm looking for but I cannot find anywhere to try it out & I've read bad reveiws  Such a shame as it looks perfect to me.

TIA and congrats on all of your beautiful double bundles of gorgeousness! :flower:

This is the only place I have admitted this...the only place I feel safe enough to. I read the other recent post "I feel nothing for them" and can relate so much that it's scary.

I had a horrible end to my pregnancy..constant extreme pain, many hospitalizations, preeclampsia, emergency c-section due to near kidney failure, a 2 week NICU stay for the babies, a bowel infection for me, along with a lung clot and then ended up with a heart condition that nearly killed me.

I first felt absolutely nothing for them. They were strangers..they weren't mine. I wanted them to stay in the NICU and never come home. I wanted to pretend none of this ever happened. I felt guilty for bringing them into this world and not wanting them. I welcomed the hospital stays where I didn't have to see them or anyone else. THen they were discharged..I was an emotional wreck. I didn't talk to anyone..I didn't get online (which was a huge pleasure of mine beforehand) I resented them for what this pregnancy did to me and my heart..and the rest of my life.

People would gush over them and I'd play along. I'd say how much they mean to me and how lucky I am. I'd pretend to be totally in love. I'd smile and coo...just as I was expected to. That's what new moms do, right?

Now, nearly 8 weeks post partum, I am finally starting to accept them. I am struggling with it all, and the sleep deprivation doesn't help. My husband is great, but has zero patience and is horrible with newborns, so I feel that I'm doing this all alone. I spend every single night awake all night and in the living room. I haven't slept in my bed in weeks. I only get to shower every few days. I hardly have the patience to deal with my 1 year old. Needless to say, it has been HARD.

But I see the light at the end of the tunnel. I read other stories and realize that it won't be like this forever. I am growing to love them and learning to appreciate life. I still have my moments..but it's getting better...thank God.

Just wanted to let anyone who is feeling this way know that they are not alone.

Afternoon girls !
Having asked your advice last time about which pram/ buggy to get, and finally deciding on the 'out n about double nipper v2', I thought I was all organized!
Well today I have gone to order said buggy, but have had a sneaky look at the 'city select double buggy', which now comes with carrycots - it looks fab !!
So now, once again im not sure which to choose?!?
My options are the nipper v2 double or the city select double .

Any advice would be great ! We live in a sea side town and do lots of camping and walking in woods etc, so i need a buggy that will cope with the off roading side as well be nice around towns !

I shouldn't have looked at the other pram !! :dohh:

Hey guys...

So I dont really have a "pregnancy related" post, more of just a rant really. But I have been dealing with a lot with my hubby and I think my hormones are making the whole thing worse than it is. I am sure I could find another area where this would be more fitting, but I feel comfortable with you guys and am hoping for some words of encouragment.

OK, here it goes...

So my husbands sister is nuts. They have a terrible relationship and I don't like her one bit so we made it clear in the family that we are not to socialize with her or her two teenage daughters at all. We handled it with class and refuse to gossip about her, but just feel that our lives are more peaceful without her insane drama... (and I am talking INSANE drama, like Keeping Up With the Kardashians kind of drama).

Well, word got back to her (thanks to my MIL) so DH's sister got on a public online forum my husband frequents and does business on and spread awful, terrible, horrible rumors about him. Of course a lot of people (most we don't even know) jumped on the band wagon and began saying really hurtful stuff. Well, it got so bad and someone (I wonder who... hmmm) posted pictures of me, my husband, and our daughter online and people all over started commenting about us. The stuff about our daughter was especially hurtful. They got a hold of our address and someone posted pics of our house urging people to "pay us a visit."

We called the police, and have taken screen shots of everything. The owners of the website have been notified and since then they have taken down the pics and our address but the insults continue. Not so much is said about me or my daughter (mainly stuff about how we look, etc) but they keep slamming on my husband and he is beginning to show real signs of depression over this.

My husband is an amazing man. He is honest and loving and compassionate. Unfortunately he has a terrible family and we have traveled out of state to try and get away from them. We are handeling the website drama with the authorities and will press charges eventually. I just don't know how to comfort my sweet husband. My hormones get the best of me and I end up falling to pieces. Can anyone offer any words of encouragment? Has anyone been through this before? I know it seem silly to post an online problem on another forum, but I don't know who to turn to with all this. My family is not very supportive and very "status" driven... so something like this would inevitably prompt some belief that we were asking for this. And, well, his family should be locked up for EVERYONE'S safety.

How does life go on after public ridicule (?) like this? Thanks for letting me vent...

Yesterday I got up to make some food and had the most severe back pain on the right side that came to the right of my belly. I was bent over, couldn't breath, talk, walk, and was crying it was that bad. I call my doctor and was told it sounds like a kidney stone and to call them back if the pain comes back. Pain came back a bit later that night so I call and they tell me to go to hospital. I am so mad bc I never got a clear answer. They said my white blood count is a little high and they are not ruling out kidney stone but they think I have a uti. What do u mean u think?? The test either shows I did or I didn't  They put me on meds for a uti. Can a uti cause such horrible pain like I experienced?? I mean I was at my doctor 2 days ago, they checked my urine and didn't mention it looked odd how did a uti strike that fast and hard for me to be in that much pain?? Babies looked great thank god but I am nervous. If this is a UTI it is my 3rd one in pregnancy I never had one be4 I was pregnant, I know they are common but it can be dangerous for babies cant it if not treated?? I am on meds so it is being treated but I never had that much pain be4 it must be a bad uti (even tho they said my white blood count was only a bit elevated so not a serious infection which is good) My doctor said to go to an allergist bc soon I wont be able to take the uti meds I take now in pregnancy and he needs to know what he can give me since I seem to keep getting utis. An allergist makes me nervous I know they don't put the meds into ur system to test u, it just goes under the skin but I am scared it will go into my system and harm the babies.

Question: Have you gotten a uti be4 in pregnancy and were u in as much pain as I was. The last 2 UTIs I had I had no pain, didn't even know I had one if they didn't tell me.

I was scheduled for an induction on the 24th, but went into labour myself on Monday (36 weeks +3) It was an amazingly smooth vaginal birth. Only 3 hrs from 3-4cm to birth and no tears or stitches! Clara was born first weighing 5lbs14oz and 8 min later Ainslie was born weighing 5lbs8oz. They both scored apgars of 9 and I got to have them in my arms right away! My hospital's policy is 72 hrs minimum for near term babies, but Clara and Ainslie passed every test with flying colors, so we went home less than 48 hrs after birth.

They are doing great so far although Ainslie has lost a little more weight than preferred, but they eat well (bfing and supp with formula until my milk comes in), so my dr isn't too worried.

When I find time I will post photos and update this thread.

Pictures!!

Hi all!
I posted this in the breastfeeding forum, but I thought I'd ask here too as it's got to do with feeding my twins.
My babes are just under 6 weeks old and I am still having issues with a low supply.
I try to pump when I can because I have to supplement anyway and I like to try and give a bit of breast milk in a bottle when I can.

I am never able to pump much with my manual pump, it is always really disappointing, but on to my question:

Does it make sense to pump right before a feed when I am full?
I read that a pump will never pull out the milk as well as baby so if I pump a pile and get lots of milk before a feed will that affect how much baby gets from the feed?

I just woke up this morning and my one breast was engorged and dripping and babies still asleep so I took the moment and pumped and got a WHOLE OUNCE in 5 minutes which is unheard of for me, hahaha.

SO, pumping before a feed? Yes or No?
Thank you so much ladies.
I'm still so new to this and usually quite frustrated.

My Dr has scheduled a weekly ultrasound to check fluids and a NST twice weekly to check for heart rate/movement/etc.

So 2 weeks ago I had my 1st NST and the nurse was shaking my belly and zapping it with a vibrator (don't laugh... thats what I call it! LOL) And she satyed very mum the whole time so I just sat there and talked like an idiot. Then she says she is paging the Dr to come speak to me because their heart rates are not excelling like they would like and they are not moving too much.

The Dr comes in and says he wants to add an extra us for a biophysical profile (BPP). This is a quick ultrasound that watches for X amount of movement in X amount of time and at least 30 sec of 'fetal breathing' from each twin.

So Baby B passes with flying colors (8/8) the moment we begin the ultrasound but Baby A wasn't moving much and would not 'breathe' for a while. At this point I am ready to pass out with fear and then he does enough to suffice and gets an 8/8 score as well.

The next NST I go in for Baby A passes quickly and Baby B won't cooperate! The Dr said they are probably deep sleepers and we are catching them at nap time. This did not satisfy me and I want to know why my babies are rasing such flags when it comes time to monitor their development!

Lastly, I go in for my last NST and (of course) the heart rates are low, not accellerating and they wont move. We go in for the BPP again and they both score a perfect 8/8. So I ask the Dr what this means and he says that neither baby are showing signs they could survive a vaginal delivery. WHAT?!?

I wanted a c section... I did. I just had this feeling. Still, I am so scared that something is wrong with my boys. I can't find anything online about NST's or low heart rates and the Dr says neither baby is in distress. Then he turns around and checks my chart to see if I have been receiving steroid injections. My c section is scheduled on Feb 8th, but he told me if at any NST appt he doesn't like the results he will send me in that day for an emergency c section. Help me ladies! I'm so scared... anyone have a similar experience with these awful tests?

Sorry the post is so long... lots of info, lots of worry

I often let the twins play in their bedroom together, they have a gate across their door and they happily play for hours on end....

But I have always wondered... what do they get up to?? How does it get so messy??

So using my technical genius, I set up my laptop to take a picture of the twins every 5 seconds, sped it up and turned an hours worth of play time into a 2 minute video!

Thought I would share with you fellow twin mamas...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQX5y...ature=youtu.be

It takes a while for them to get into it, but when they do start to really play its quite funny to see how much they move around and play with everything :haha:

(I especially love the fact that Frazer rolls around a lot on the floor playing with his toys, which I never knew he did haha!)

Hi Ladies

My twins are now 4 1/2 months old. Darcie has always been such a pleasant little girl, independent, loves her mat time and sitting in her bouncy chair etc.

Recently it's like we've had role reversal. Callum is now the independent one, he's always chilled out but Darcie has become something else.

I think shes been teething for a couple of weeks but this seems to have now stopped, but she will not be left alone at all. If I put her on her mat for kick time she screams in a proper tantrum, until I pick her up again, she won't be left anywhere unless I take her attention off the fact, i.e change her nappy on the mat first then she'll play for a bit before throwin a tantrum again.

She stares Callum out if Daddy hold him then cries until she has Daddy, then does the same thing with me if I pick Callum up. I can't seriously believe she actually could be jealous at 4 months old but it's becoming hardwork especially when I'm alone with them and Callum is missing out on cuddles as Darcie thinks she owns Mummy.

Am I going mad or can sibling rivalry start so young???? Any suggestions??

Thanks Kel xxx

Hi Everyone,

Sorry it has taken a week to post my birth story and pictures of my 2 beautiful princesses, but my hands have been rather full :haha:...

Hi Everyone,

Sorry it has taken a week to post my birth story and pictures of my 2 beautiful princesses, but my hands have been rather full :haha:

So it all began last monday when I went in for my growth scan, the girls were first stress tested and everything appeared normal, I complained to the midwife I still thought I was losing my waters, I had been complaining of this for over a week. However whenever they did a speculum they saw no evidence of my waters breaking, but I kept finding my pjs wet, and after smelling them  knew it wasn't pee, but only small amounts every other day. Every evening my contractions were getting stronger too, between 12 and 2am but would eventually fade away again, and some nights the pelvic pressure was so immense I thought they were going to drop out if I coughed!
However the midwife said after my scan and consultant visit if I came back to the ward they would do another speculum to check for waters. So I went off for my scan, which was nice because the sonographer showed me twin 2 had hair, very cute. However I could tell she wasn't too happy with the measurements of twin 1, she gave me rough estimates of between 5.5-5.8 for twin 1, and about 6.5-6.8 for twin 2. I was then sent on to discuss my results with my consultant. When twin 1's growth was charted her abdo and head circ had tailed off and showed no growth for the last 2 weeks, and very little over the last 4 weeks. They also noted her liquor volume was dropping considerably week on week. After discussion with the consultant I was told I would be examined on the ward and my waters checked, if they saw evidence of my waters they would section me that night if not they would do it on the wednesday which would allow 2 steroid shots for their lungs. After another examination I was told my cervix was fully closed and no evidence of my waters, so they gave me a steroid shot, very stingy! I was told I could go home and settle my 2 year old but to come back in at 8pm, and I would stay there until wednesday. We all went for our last supper at Pizza Hut, I presumed it was nerves but I ate my dinner super fast and was left with terrible indegestion pains. I said my goodbyes to my boys and me and the hubby headed back to the hospital.
Thry hooked me upto the monitors and said they would do heart traces on the girls every 6 hours, however when they hooked me up, I noticed I was contracting every 3 mins and the peaks were much higher than they had been before, soon I realised my indigestion was in fact contractions! When the midwife returned she was shocked and asked if I was feeling the tightenings, so the doctor came and examined me and I was 2cm dilated and thinning. I explained I wanted to be checked regularly as I didn't want to miss the birth through a general anasthetic, twin 1 was presenting breech so they were only happy with a section delivery. They said they would examine in an hour again, by which time I was 3cm gone but still a little thick. The doctor was unsure what to do, although I kept telling him it was definately labour, he decided to send me down to labour ward and see if things carried on progressing. I was getting quite anxious by now as my labours have always been very fast once I hit established labour, I explained this to the doc and midwife again, so they examined me again, I had thinned out and was now 4cm gone, but because I wasn't in too much pain the doctor was still hesitant! The midwife convinced him to ask his superior. He came back in the room 2 mins later and said they were emergency sectioning me then and there. Then the speed it happened was quite frightening, I was given consent forms to sign, my hubby was put in scrubs and wheeled off to be given my spinal. I was very nervous about this but the staff were brilliant at keeping me calm. The section began and the girls were born at 1.12 am and 1.15 am. Twin 1 was Franseca Erlea and weighed 5lb15oz and twin 2 was Ariana Meli and 5lb14oz. They had a bit of trouble getting Ariana out as she was lying transverse/oblique and stuck under my ribs. I started to feel a little more than tugging so they added a shot of opium based drugs which took any pain away. The girls were both whisked off to be seen by the docs, my curtain was too high so I couldn't see them but my hubby videoed it so I've seen it since. Ariana needed some help taking her first breath. About 10 mins later they were brought out to my hubby and looked so gorgeous and precious. Once I was sewn up Nick and the girls were taken out of theatre and I was wheeled down to recovery. I was told I would need to stay in there for a while because of my blood loss and the additional drugs I needed. I was allowed out at 3 and wheeled back to labour ward, the girls were placed on me at 3.15 where they stayed skin on skin having little feeds until 9.15. The 2 hour wait was hard to be away from my girls, but these 6 hours more than made up for it.

I had a few subsequent problems, twin 2 was whisked off to scbu 12 hours after birth, because of her blood glucose levels we were warned this might be for 2 days, I was heartbroken but it ended up being only a couple of hours. That night I suffered very bad sickness and kept blacking out, they think this was my reaction to the painkillers, frustatingly I gave myself a hernia, and will probably need an op in a couple of months, and it put my recovery back a day. However the girls and I were allowed home on the thursday evening, as the staff had been useless on the wed night and I said I would be better off at home with my family. On my midwife visit on the saturday the girls had dropped 12 and 16% of their birthweight so I had to go back in the hospital. Their blood results showed twin 2, Ariana was jaundice and needed phototherapy and she had to sort her feeding out. I was re-admitted with the girls, and was really upset. The staff that night were fab, I woke up to breastfeed the girls they would then top them up and settle them for me, bliss. Ariana's levels had dropped sufficently that the phototherapy was stopped after 15 hours. After agreeing to top ups of formula after each feed and pushing the girls into a 3-4 hour routine I was allowed home again on Sunday evening.

Sorry for the long long story, anyway here is the best bit ......... photos

PS This is a youtube link to my section, not too gory only see girls as they come out and you have 3 mins of my face, but you are more than welcome to watch if you want x

Hello

Another question to those mums who breastfed / feed their twins - is it feasible to express milk so that my hubby can help out with some feeds? If so, do the babies have trouble switching from teats to breast and vice-versa?

Or is this idea purely idealistic and naive? (this is my first pregnancy - the babes are yet to arrive...so many questions )

good morning!!

bit of a little moan and few questions!!!

i have always been ok with the thought of putting on wieght when preg, even then i found out i was preg with twins, well i thought i was ok!!!

in the last couple of weeks i have been getting moments where i really feel so huge. i do tell myself its all for my beautiful twinnies and its not like i would not eat etc, but i think i am struggling to come round the idea of all this weight gain.

i have put on 17lbs and i am nearly 23 weeks. most of my friends who have had babies recently put on like so little weight, you could only tell they were preg at 7 months or so! i think thats the problem, everyone around me how has been preg or is preg just hasnt really put on any weight.

my SIL, is 6 weeks behind me, with a singleton and has lost 10lbs in the her 1st tri and still not put on any weight. my hubbies family always compare us which doenst help and i feel so huge next to her!

i wish i didnt have feelings like this! bcos i love my babies sooo much! and i feel bad i have these thoughts!!!

anyways i am just feeling abit big and scared for my weight gain, but i still eat like i did pre preg, well more to be honest! and i do eat quite alot!

my pre preg weight was 56kg-57kg and i am 5ft 5 or 5ft 6!

i am sorry for this little rant!!!! :-/

how much weight have you all put on so far (sorry a bit of a personal Q) or put on during your pregnancy? how long did it take you to lose it?

hope your all ok!!!!!! big hug to you and the little ones!!!!! :hugs:

ive attached a pic from this morning of me and my twin bump!

Hi ladies. I am having twin girls and I am thinking of bf (pumping) give me the good bad and the ugly. I want to make my decision realistically. Twins r hard enough n I need to know what I'm getting into if I bf. I am nervous about getting depressed to begin with bc hormone drop being increased with twins and scared bf will be 2 much. What was ur experience??

Couple questions.

1. When u go out and u pump can u take a few bottles and leave it in dipper bag? ( milk stays good out of fridge for 6 hours I was told)

2. How often do u breasts feel like they need to be emptied? ( bc I m feeding 2 babies it will be more frequent)

I really don't know what to ask I just would like to hear ur experience.
