Ok so salad is liked in my house but it can be a bit plain boring huh!

We have things like -

Hot chicken salad - Jar paste

Jacket spuds + salad
Pork chops + salad
Lasanagh + salad
Cold Ham + salad
With such a plain home made dressing of olive oil, mustartd, vinegar, salt pepper to taste & sometimes the salad seeds you get in sprinkle pots.

Then theres steaks with salad & pepper sauce this of course not being the most healthy but nice!

So what do you have with salad? Including sauces/dressings you make yourself?

How about some roasted veggies, cous cous?

I make a warm winter salad. Where I add all the following ingredients together. Its really yummy & warm!!

New potatoes (i use the tinned ones)
Golden savoury rice (could make own)
Coldslaw (home made or from shop)
Beetroot (from a jar!!)
Lettuce
Tomatoes
Cucumber
Cheese (grated)

I just cook the spuds & rice then mix it all together in a big bowl! My OH loves it & he hates salad!!

Can also add things like peppers or chicken or tuna or.....well anything that you like.

The potato & rice are quite filling so it doesnt feel like you've eaten nothing & the coldslaw makes it less dry!

I make a dressing, v simple: lemon juice, dijon mustard, salt, pepper, olive oil.. it's lovely. You can replace the lemon juice with vinegar and the dijon mustard with wholegrain mustard for a slightly different taste. Both dressings are lovely with a bit of finely chopped garlic in too.

Yes a lovely salad recipe:

Roasted veg - Aubergine, pepper, onions, tomatoes, anything else.
Cous cous
Yum

Or tuna pasta

Taco Salad

1 1/2 lb extra lean ground beef
1 to 2 Tbsp taco seasoning mix
2 heads iceberg lettuce
2 to 3 tomatoes
1 1/2 cups grated cheddar cheese
1 small bag of Doritos (cheese) nacho chips (smushed)
1 small bottle ranch salad dressing

*Cook beef as in taco directions. Toss all ingredients together. Enjoy.* This recipe has always been one of my favourites.

sometimes I get the tins of white asparagus too, but be carefull they are an aphrodisiac

I like fruit with salads,

I'll have the norm lettace, cucumber, toms maybe ham or chicken. Then I like to mix celery, walnut & apple together. I also have bannana on some of my salads - OH thinks its so wrong but its so yummy!!!


There was a charity book sale at work yesterday and they had a Salad Book - I'll see if its there tomorrow and if it is I'll grab it!!
