Iui/ivf?

Hi Ladies

I am currently on Metformin for PCOS and I am trying to get myself prepared for what might happen next. Could anyone who has had IUI/IVF tel mel how long that had to wait and under what circumstances the NHS pay for it? Is it worth me starting to save for it?

Thanks

Me and my DH were diagnosed with unexplained subfertility, and were recommended not to bother with IUI, as the increased chance of success over a natural cycle is minimal apparently. You might find that you'll be recommended to go straight to IVF, or ICSI if your DH has any sperm problems. As far as I am aware, every couple is entitled to NHS IVF treatment, although I know that in some areas of the country, if either one or both of you have a child then the free treatment is not offered. Also in some parts of the country the waiting time is a couple of months and in others it's a couple of years. NICE guidelines recommend three free cycles per couple, but I know that my hospital only offers one cycle... booooo

My advice would be to start saving, and if you don't need to use the money for IVF, just think of the lovely things you'll be able to buy for bubbs ....
