PCOS & OPK's

Hello ladies,

As some of u may have read, I was diagnosed with PCOS on Monday following an ovary scan. At this time, the F.S also told me that he could see spontaneous ovulation and that I would ovulate in 3-4 days.

So today is 4 days later, and OPK's are have been totally negative all week. My temp has also stayed the same, although I haven't been taking this religiously.

I'm just wondering if these negative OPK's are due to low LH hormone thingies associated with PCOS?

I don't know much about PCOS yet but could this be the reason for negative OPK's when ovulation was seen in a scan?

Thanks girls

Hey chick,

I haven't ovulated at all on Clomid, though I do get positives on OPK's on the days I take my progesterone tablets, everytime without fail. Not sure why this happens, though I do think with PCOS you are much more likely to get false positives. Not sure if it works the other way also.

I think the general consensus is with PCOS, don't just go by one sign. If the CM is there, if your temp looks good then consider yourself in your fertile stage regardless of what an OPK says. A bit like driving blindfolded I'm afraid!

With PCOS, woman may have elevated levels of LH in her body and get false positives almost all the time. It does not look like you have this and as Nathyrra guessed, it doesn't go the other way.

You might have missed your surge (that happens quite easily) and if you are not temping consistently, at the same times, etc, that can really play with your chart too.

Hope you caught it.

Hi Hun
I have PCOS and opk's don't work at all for me. I have tryed them loads of times and get lots and lots of positives, which is really confusing. I don't know much about how the hormones effect the results though.
