Question about starting clomid at 100mg

Hi there I wonder if anyone can.... reassure me i suppose....I have heard some poeple have had bad reactions and side effects with high doses and even 50mg of clomid. I have never had clomid before and I have been presribed 100mg to start on cd2-6 of my next cycle....do i have a higher chance of overstimulation and side effects? Have other people been started on 100mg clomid and been ok?

I started on 100mg and the first month on it I felt quite irratable, hormonal and hot flushes etc but my body seemed to get used to it in the following cycles. Can I ask why you're been prescribed it? I wasn't ovulating and that was why I went on clomid and I didn't suffer overstimulation or anything.

I was started on 100 mg. My best advice would be to take it in the evening before you go to bed. I had horrible side effects for about 4 hours after taking it: nausea, hot flashes, emotional, headaches. So, I started taking it in the evening before I went to bed and slept through all the side effects. Woke up feeling great!!!

I honestly don't think you will overstim on 100 mg Clomid. But, heck, I suppose in our LTTTC world, anything is possible.

I was also started on 100mg - and can agree with vineyard that taking it before bedtime is best...i only suffered hot flushes and some headaches but slept through most of them (flinging the duvet off every 5 mins!)

This was my final month (3 cycles) and no joy so back to the consultant on the 3rd for next steps

I did that on my 3rd cycle because I too was trying hard to avoid the side effects...unfortunately I still suffered hot flushes, restlessness and strange dreams. I am only on 50mg and as previously mentioned in my own thread will do all I can to avoid being prescribed a higher dose for another long 3 months.

I think most of its been said but I am on 100 mg, take it at night and only really get hot flushes and sweats. I also sometimes get a bit light headed but mainly its OK. re: Overstimulation, the 100mg has produced 1 follicle at 1.7mm and one at 2mm this month which are egg producing size. I don't really think that is over stimulated, just giving me a better chance! Good luck Millnsy x

Thanks everyone. Thank goodness i'm not the only one started on 100mg. I think I will take it at night and hopefully sleep through side effects. Carebear i'm glad you said you were better on subsequent cycles as I think if i had a rough first cycle i may be tempted not to persevere. I started a thread in the pregnancy club sections to see how many people clomid worked for and what dose they had been taken and it's really nice and reassuring to hear other peoples success stories.

For those who experienced negative side effects, just curious if you experienced those same side effects on 50mg??? I am probably going to be bumped up too, since this is my last round on 50mg. So far, I have had no real bothersome side effects.
