New to clomid... question

Hello ladies

I was perscribed clomid on Monday after being told I have PCOS and do not ov on my own.

My consultant told me to take it on days 1-5 of my next cycle. I hadn't heard of taking it this early, I thought it was ususally 3-7 or 5-9.

I've tried looking it up, but just wondering if anybody can tell me what the difference is in what days u take it. As far as I know, the earlier you take it, the more follicles you get, but they are somewhat 'weaker' than if u took it a few days later. Is this right?

Sorry not sure about your question but I take clomid on days 2-6, do you have very long cycles?

Hi Mrs R, like hayley352 and funnybunny, I have been taking Clomid days 2-6 but I do think your doctor may have looked at your cycle length hence the difference (I'm a 28 day girl), also I have seen posts from US ladies where they were instructed to take it later in their cycle so I think it does differ...

Hope the Clomid does its job and you get your BFP

I was told to take mine on the 2nd day of my cycle for 5 days....I hope Clomid agrees with you better than it did me.

Always...Yearning.x

I've been trawling through all the info on the internet and can find very little on taking clomid on days 1-5.

It seems to be the earlier you take it, the more follicles you produce so the higher the chance of pregnancy. I seen a few articles where a comparison study was done between ladies taking clomid days 1-5 and on days 5-9.

In the days 1-5 group, 25% of the ladies got pg, where as no-one in the days 5-9 group did. Interesting stuff......

Taking it on days 1-5 seems to be relatively new practice, but results are more successful (so Google says!)

So fingers crossed then.......

There's probably a good reason why your consultant prescribed it for those days - not that I know the reason.... I think your consultant does a lot of lecturing to students and I think he may have written and published a few 'white' papers on fertility treatments. I'm sure he thinks that you've more chance by taking it days 1-5. Fingers crossed it works for you...

xx
