We won't be delaying, DH is quite multiskilled and if the worst happened he should find another job without too much bother. Our reason for not delaying is that it has taken us nearly two years to get this far and even though we are still young we don't want to delay any further. We are also in a very lucky position not to have a mortgage due to money my husband inherited, things might be different if we did.

Not a snowball's chance in hell. There is nothing that will stop us ttc - never imagined it would take this long and I don't think I'd cope with the anguish of knowing we have fertility issues and not even trying. Damn it, I wanted to be starting to plan the second by now.... not still plugging away at the first......

I started a thread similar to this just before xmas. My OH lost his job in Oct and is finding it hard to find anything else now. I have just started new job 5th Jan so I wont be entitled to any company maternity pay ...just the SMP of something like £100/week. We dont have a mortgage as still saving up. I decided that we have been trying long enough and we shouldnt delay it more. Luckily I have a good job and even if I dont get mat pay first time round I can maybe get it second time round (fingers crossed). And I dont care if I bring up my kids in rented accomodation...I have still made it a really nice home for us and no one culd tell otherwise.

As its already been said, there is never a right time for kids ...as thats what we were doing for ages before we even started trying.....and trying and trying....people somehow survive when they have kids.....i saw this programme on tv about teenage wives...abit bizarre and they were all pregnant, left right and centre....and I did think, how the hell are they going to bring up this child??? well i think thats a nother story!!

There's been rumours of redundancies at my company but it wouldn't stop me trying, we've been wanting this for too long. Plus we have some money saved anyway and a family who can throw some dosh at us if need be so I guess we're kinda lucky.

Funny tho cos my colleague (and good friend) has been told her contract probably won't be renewed so we reckon the only chance she'll get to stay is if I get preggo and they need her to cover me. I told her she better start looking for other jobs, ha ha! She said when I get into work Monday, I'll find a load of ovulation kits and 'how to improve your fertility' books on my desk, bless her! No pressure then! (BTW, we were joking about so she's wasn't being insensitive, just trying to make me laugh!).

If either OH or myself got made redundant I might have to think about delaying things if only because we could barely afford our bills on one income, let alone a child.
