Bad SA results - updated :(

My OH went for a SA back in Nov but they lost the results but they finally found them and the doctor phoned and said they are low, theres no chance of getting pregnant and theres abnormalities they want to talk about when he goes back to the drs next week.

I've looked at the criteria for IVF with the NHS and we aren't eligible even then theres a 4 year waiting list here apparently. We cant afford a private clinic.

So is this it? No baby ever for us?

No, they haven't said anything like that, I'll get him to ask when he goes next week and look into zinc, I got him some multi vitamins last week which are supposed to help - vit a, c and selenium.

I'm sorry to hear that, hopefully they can suggest some things that might help when he goes back to see them.

Sorry to hear this

Why don't you meet the criteria for IVF on NHS? Could you join a health insurance plan and then after 12 months they will pay? Thats how it works over here.

I dont think we have anything like that over here, maybe theres a clinic that doesn interest free credit like the cosmetic surgeries do will have to look into it but there aren't that many clinics near us so not too hopeful there.

We dont meet the criteria in 2 ways I think, I am 20, hes 40, therefore I believe I am too young (need to be 23?) and he has a son from a previous relationship which would probably put us further down the list

Hey Kirstin

How come the NHS won't fund it hun?

We are waiting on ICSI on the NHS due to low count at present. We've change DH's diet but no change on the SA front as yet - i think it's medical and nothing pills can fix but i know some people have had an improvement.

Is there no way you could look into private funding or loan to consider private ICSI? There is always the option of gift - there are clinics that will offer you free IVF in return for you donating some eggs to couples who have none?x

Hi, I dont think we are eligible because of my age (20) possibly his too? But I cant find anything about male age and he has a child from a previous relationship so I dont like we would be a priority.

I've been looking into egg donation as a private clinic close by offers cheaper treatment if you donate eggs, I didn't realise you could get the whole thing free at some places? I just dont know how I would cope if it wasn't successful wondering whether the other eggs were?
