Panicking!!

I have my lap & dye scheduled for Wednesday, but I have a cold!!! Its been coming on since last Tuesday. It started with a sore throat, and has progressed to a chesty cough, lots of phlegm (sorry), and a runny/blocked nose. I'm dosed up on paracetemol, cough mixture, Beecham All-in-One etc, and I'm sending OH down to Morrisons to pick me up some Vitamin C tablets and lots of orange juice.

I'm really hoping that it has gone before Wednesday, because I reckon that they will cancel the surgery if it hasn't. It's already had to be postponed once because of the stupid being due the same day.

I don't know whether to ring the hospital on Monday, or leave it till Wednesday morning. The only problem is if I leave it till the last minute, and they cancel me, it'll be too late for them to offer the slot to someone else. And because I work in the inpatient office at the hospital, I know how much it costs the NHS when a theatre list goes down.

Aaagghh, why can't my body just co-operate with me for ONCE!

I never get sick, and then the ONE time that I really can't afford to be ill, I'm ill.

Gah!

Oh Sweetie, I'm so sorry...try and sweat it out....eat plenty of good food and drinks lots....try and flush the sod out!

I genuinely hope that you are feeling better by Wednesday. I had my first Lap and Dye appointment canceled too and therefore know how dis-heartening it is...I shall keep my fingers and toes crossed for you and shall send you some healing energy!

Thanks hun. I'm feeling a little better after all the drugs I've taken, but my crackly voice gives me away!!

Please, please, please let me be better by Wednesday!

I would think they'll still do it, so don't panic. Look after yourself and I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

When I went in for my lap the lady in the bed next to me who was also having a lap had a cold and sore throat and she asked them if it was ok for her to have the op and they said it wasnt a problem at a - but that she might find her throat was more sore afterwards if they had to put a tube down her throat.

So I am sure they will do yours too honey.

Crossing fingers for you - keep up with that vit c.

I was completely fcuked after my lap. Had to stay overnight, totally dehydrated, on a drip, elevated pulse and an inability to even keep water down.

I asked if it was anything to do with the fact that I had a cold and they said no, that it was simply an adverse reaction to the anaesthetic. A cold, they said, would have no bearing on anything.

Had a bit of a sore throat because of tube though, but even those without a cold get that.
