I went with DH to his first session of accupuncture with the chinese medicine treatment today.
This guy has vast qualificiations and has done all his study in China...only problem is that he can't speak a whole lot of english
so he is very hard to understand!
When we told him what the motility rate was he told us that we will need to do IVF as well as the accupuncture. He told us of couples that had several failed IVF attempts, and after accupuncture got pregnant through IVF.
We were a little disapointed, I guess in a way we were hoping for a miracle so that we could naturally fall pregant, even though deep down I knew that it probably wasn't going to end up that way.
We're going to keep up with the accupuncture for the next 3 months solid, and just have regular sex, but not timing it with ovulation...we're just going to give ourselves a break from it and not ruin the intimate mood by all this timing etc.
Then we're going to get another sperm test done and see if the motility has increased at all.
After that (should bring us up to September) I guess we will begin seeing fertility specialists.
I am glad that DH is happy to have a bit of a breather for 3 months because I think I really need this time to prepare myself for what lay ahead. The appointments, the invasive procedures, the hormones, the giving myself needles, the side-effects, the cost and of course the possibility of going through it all and to have it not work.
It just feels as though its a lot to take in and I think we both need some time to adjust to the way things will have to go.
