Estradiol...anyone taken this?

Has anyone taken Estradiol? It's supposed to help thicken the uterine lining when it's too thin.
RE prescribed this to me today, with IUI to follow on 8/20 because although my follies are a good size, the lining is too thin

I've never heard of this medication before. Anyone taken this before and if so what kind of side effects should I expect? Thanks!!!

I had an u/s in preparation for IUI. They check to see if my follies are a good size and if the lining is thick enough.

AF is usually about 5-6 days, but they put me on BC pills right after my regular AF and have me go off right before Clomid, which means I get 2 periods in a month. That's why I'm thinking my lining has been thin...I've never had a problem before....

I know it probably sounds kind of complicated, but when my AF arrives, I am to call the clinic and get seen within the first 3 days of my AF. Since the clinic doesn't have available appts within the first 3 days, they put me on BC pills, to start my cycle over. Once I get seen, they have me go off the pills so my AF can begin again, and I can start Clomid.

I think estradiol is one of the hormones naturally produced during a normal cycle. I say I think, as I'm sure it was one of the hormones tested in my day 3 bloods. I guess when you're taking clomid it causes an increase in estrogen and that increase then has an effect on the other hormones. Maybe its estradiol that causes the womb lining to thicken ready for implantation??

Good luck with your IUI - I hope it works for you.
