| I'm sure this is no news to any of you googling wizards but this is a good article: http://www.babyhopes.com/articles/lu...se-defect.html
Sadly LPD is treated like a make-believe condition these days. that's partly because vitamin B6, progesterone and estrogen supplements are not a miracle cure and do not really "fix it" and partly because the term has been abused but it is certainly a condition that's worth investigating starting with the P test and continuing with endometrium measurements through u/s and biopsy! | | | | Status: Offline

I really don't know, when it comes to terminology, if spotting is classed as a LPD though. Everything I read basically says that LP is determined as the time from Ov to CD1 and CD1 is the first day of full flow, so spotting in itself doesn't seem to count? But surely spotting from a week or more before af starts must be symtomatic of something and it happens within the luteal phase...... Sorry, just thinking out loud! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Well fellow spotters, i really got my hopes up this cycle as i had a different kind of spotting ta 5dpo+6dpo a pink/creamy blob on each day. But no, right on cue 10dpo brown spotting. It was actually lighter than normal at 10 and 11dpo but today i got up with hope and brown watery blood ran down my leg (sorry for tmi). My docs not bothered by it but is it him who has to wear panty liners for days until full flow which can make you sore or wear nothing and ruin all your knickers?
Sorry for the rant just fed up! |

Sorry for the rant just fed up! | Good point Tansey! Somehow I think he would have a different opinion if he had to endure it every month! Your spotting this month does sound quite different though - was today's "leakage" af do you think?
I know a lot of people say their doc's aren't bothered by it, but I have yet to read a good explanation for why it happens which at the same time proves it does not affect ttc. If the doc said, well you are spotting because you have "x" condition, and "x" condition does not affect ttc, I would say fair enough. But if they won't even investigate, how the hell do they know it's nothing to worry about. Sometimes I think docs just fob us off because they don't really know what the next step is. If this cycle ends like the others, I am determined to get some answers and will not be fobbed! (Easy to say that now, wait till I get to the docs and become a jibbering wreck!!! )
You know, I feel a bit better about the spotting thing at least knowing that I am not alone. I like this thread, and as crap and horrible as the subject matter is, I think may be, we might be able to help each other, sharing stories, advice and so on.
Good luck Tansey. When is your next appointment? xxxxxx |

I completely get your frustration. Had my 1st doc appt last week as ttc a year now. Mentioned spotting to doc and he said "But that's a usual thing for you though isn't it?", then shrugged it off. Grrrrr
I think when doc reaches stalemate and can't find the reason for something they write it off as just 'one of those things'. That's what happened when I had spotting investigated before ttc. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | i think spotting is definately linked to some sort of hormone imbalance, my cycles are regulating themselves i hope after being on bcp for 11 years. previous cycles ive spotted 3/4 days before AF and the last cycle i think it was 1 day before full flow came which to me seems more "normal". Im hoping that as my body sorts itself out so will the spotting. With or without the spotting though my luteal phase remains between 5-9 days max so things clearly aren't sorted out yet! |

I like this thread, and as crap and horrible as the subject matter is, I think may be, we might be able to help each other, sharing stories, advice and so on. | Todays is spotting not AF, in fact no sign of anything else making me think unless AF surprises me tomorrow, my cycle might be a day or two longer - bloody typical!
i also start crying at the docs, very embarrassing! i want to have FSH bloods done so as soon as AF arrives i will ring up.
It is good to know that others go through this as well and so to some extent it must be normal.
What i'm wondering is if old blood is brown, until AF my spotting is always brown, very dark? |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Had my appt with the gyno today and discussed the spotting. He is convinced it is due to progesterone deficiency and that it is preventing us getting pg - he said the fertilised eggs have nowhere to go.
Having cd21 (and cd3) tests done this month and I'm off the progesterone pills of course, so we can see what my real levels are!
