Sorry about your results. I know that private is expensive but i know of a family friend who conceived through IVF on the NHS and now has a healthy baby girl. But i also know that a lot of it is a postcode lottery.

If it's borderline then fingers crossed for you that things might happen naturally

Hello there,

I don't know what it means either I'm afraid but I would like to think that 'slow' sperm is better than 'no' sperm and thankfully you have no complications yourself. So perhaps you are half way there. What a lovely man you have going off to have the tests without prompting and now that you know, you can hopefully do something about it.

I wish you both good luck and sincerely hope that things work out for you sooner than you think.

Hi, I think slow sperm is related to motility - how fast they are moving. I got this from my consultant after my DH's sperm analysis came back with very poor motility. I think she said only 5% were moving as fast as they should. I kinda feared the worst after this result, especially since I also had very irregular cycles.
My consultant suggested trying to improve diet and take vitamins especially for men. I looked into this and got my hubby to take wellman, made by the makers of pregnacare. She aslo told me to remain positive as it only takes one sperm to get pregnant. I really didn't think it would happen for me and that IUI or IVF would be the way forward. I am sooooo pleased to say I was wrong. Just two months after the SA result I got my BFP. I know it doesn't work out like that for everybody but it is worth being positive. Maybe you could try to improve diet and or try vits and if nothing happens ask for a re-test. It can't do any harm. Good luck.

Asked her how quickly things would happen then and she reckoned not too long, she thinks the next stage would be for me to have dye injected in so they can have a look at my fallopian tubes, she said that would take another 6-8 weeks probably! Things get soooo dragged out. She told us hugely expensive private, although hell of a lot quicker but that just isnt an option.

Dont know why the GPs think it helps by saying " majority of people conceive while waiting for their fertility clinic appointments" DOESNT HELP!

Anyway, just an update.

It would be interesting to know how many people get pg whilst waiting for appts! bet the NHS wont provide them sort of figures as it'll show how crap the waiting lists are!!
