Hi Hayley,

they measure the size of the follicles which should be around 18mm in diameter. They also measure the lining of the womb or endometrium and this should be about 8mm, I think. Then if this is all ok they give you the hcg shot(if you have that) and that makes sure that the follicle releases within 36hrs.

that's the same as me apart from the fact i have to go in on day 13 cos their never big enough the even then I have to sometimes go back in on day 17 or 18?
I've done one cycle of this treatment so far and I went in for my scan on CD12 and the follicle was only 16.5mm in size so I went back on cd14 where it was bigger so its good that they have realised that you need a little bit more time saves a trip! Some people do just take a little longer to react to the clomid. My friend on all 4 of her attempts (I think) went in on CD12 and always had to go back a few days later cause there were no follicles or they weren't big enough

It all depends what treatment your consultant wants to follow, a lot of places will just give you clomid and monitor you with u/sounds to check you don't get hyperstimulation and leave you to ovulate by yourself. My hospital are giving me the jabs so they know there is a definate window of ovulation and therefore possible conception. The nurse at the hospital does administer this injection into my bottom which is slightly sore. Not too bad though and I keep telling myself it will be worth it!!!

I was told by one 'expert' to take it CD2-5. I then was referred to another hospital and the consultant there told me to stop taking it, and by rights it should be from CD1????

I'd go with whatever your consultant told you, but hopefully you won't need to worry about it and you'll have your this month.
