I'm Currently Feeling: | GP's comment!!!!!! I went to the gP the other day to discuss TTc and she was talking about the irony of the whole thing and that it was hard for some women to conceive whilst she would get teenagers through the door who had had a bottle of plonk at the weekend and had fallen pregnant!
Then she went on to say ( as a throw away comment ) that we should get ourselves a kitten or a dog. I said that I would love to but we live in a flat and are always at work then she replied that we should get a hamster, can you believe it!!!!!
The thing is I find when people make these kind of comments that part of is a bit hurt but part of me understands that they mean well. But a doctor saying this!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Coz a pet solves your problems? I'm shocked anyone suggests this when the subject of TTC is being had! I got my kitty half way through my jouney but that was something I wanted not because it was suggested whist I was TTC'ing!
Madness! x |

| The people who say get a kitten or a dog believe we just want something to love; that we can deflect our emotions, that we can thrust them upon an animal and that will be enough.
It's not enough.
I have a cat that I love dearly but I'm still desperate for a child.
It's insensitive. And, it plays down our problems.
I can't believe your doctor said that. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Thats awful!!!
Dr's of all people should have tact and should know what is and isn't appropriate suggestions, and a pet to substitute a baby is NOT appropriate.
God, I have 6 horses, 6 dogs and a string of pet sheep and cows and as much as I dearly love them, they could never fill the void I have for a child. |
