| importing sperm from USA Hi
Has anyone had any experience with any IVF clinics who will import sperm from the USA to either UK or Australia? We need to but we are finding it difficult to find clinics who will do this, even when the sperm banks are very reputable.
any advice appreciated! | | | | Status: Offline

| What is the issue about importation? Do they refuse to do it because they have an agreement with the donor that the sperm will not be transported abroad or, is it a problem with keeping it at the correct temperature during importation?
Have never really known. | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | Hi there Hikax,
I'm not really sure, but did look into sperm donation procedure at many clinics (in Australia) because it was (and still is I guess) a possibility for us if we choose it.
I was surprised at how hard it was! Are you in Australia?
In Oz, there are, I would say 2-3 'main' clinics, the really big ones.
Now, 1 of them has a list of donars but apparently the wait for the DS is VERY long. The clinic i'm with does not accept that the donar and recipient be anon to each other...thats right, you must know your donor. Would that be an option for you and your partner? I'm just thinking that that way you'd be able to get in quickly. |

| hi FJL
I'm in London but I'm thinking of going home to Australia. Yes its hard in the UK and Australia to import! The only clinic most people seem to agree to import from is Xytex but unfortunately they don't have the ethnicity of sperm we need.
We decided early on to have an anonymous donor - but hopefully one that would agree to meet any offspring when they turn 18 if they kid wanted to. We're not at the stage of re-evaluating that yet, we would really like to keep things simple and keep it to 2 parents like most people! Any leads you've got on Australian IVF clinics would be really appreciated. | | | | Status: Offline

| hi Curlysue
No the issues are about how much the donor is paid (some countries don't want them to be paid) and other times its because they want to stay anonymous. | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | I know that IVF Australia does anon donors but it sounds like there is a fair wait list.
Here is the link to their site regarding donor sperm http://www.ivf.com.au/pages/donor.php#sperm
QFG (Queensland Fertility Group) sounds better actually... http://www.qfg.com.au/donor-sperm.html
I hope that helps and i'll check out some other Oz IVF websites over the weekend and post some more links. |
