Really? I've never heard of that. How annoying that he didn't get told that before hand! It's horrible because it's quite a big deal and I'm sure he geared himself up for it, and now has to do that all over again.

I saw these as well - when I was searching. I'm guessing they're a similar thing. Think I'll show them all to OH and see what he thinks.

Only thing is, I have a feeling there is danger that he'll start saying I'm keeping on about it and putting him under pressure.

Ahhhh Hayz - I'm sure if he is anything like my DH, he will understand that the tests and scans etc that us women have to go through are a lot worse than taking a few tablets here and there.

I'm sure he will be OK about it. I know it's hard, but they need to do their bit to help as much as they can.

They get used to it!!!!!

Those numbers are a bit low, but nothing really bad. You want to aim to get the motility to above 50%.

Bird posted some great info re: vitamins. Our specialist specialises in male factor infertilitly and told us to get DH on zinc, Vit C, folic acid and a few others, we just bought a mens multi V which had them all in it.

As far as testing, get another one done in 3-4 weeks, then perhaps another one done in 3 months to see if diet and lifestyle changes have affected him much. A naturopath might be a good idea too to give him a detox.

There has been great results of men making changes and taking the vit/mins boosting everything up. I think its only when its all really low (like my DH) that diet can only do so much.

You holding the sample wouldn't have done anything, you're supposed to hold it in your hands or pocket or somewhere to keep it warm.

How long did he abstain for before the test? Its supposed to be 3 days, no more and no less, so if it was for say 2 or 4 days then the results probably read worse than what they are.

Best of luck to you and let us know how the next test goes.

Thank you - that's really reassuring.

We BD'd on Sunday night and then he did the test on Thursday morning. Before that we had not BD'd for 9 days, so not sure if that makes a difference.

I'm going to order him a multi-vit today. We've both agreed to give up alcohol and caffeine completely (well I already had so he's agreed to join me!), and to cut out all processed foods if possible and eat lots of fresh foods etc. Hopefully this will make a difference.

I'll also look into whether there are any good homeopaths/naturopaths/acupuncturists - basically anything that may help!!! - in our area. These are things that would be good for me too with my endometriosis. Money's going to be a bit tight for us until the end of September so this is something that may have to wait until then but I'll look now anyway and find out prices etc.

The only other thing that concerns me is that OH does quite a lot of weight training and some running. I'm not sure if this could have an effect on sperm count, but I don't like to ask him to cut down on this as it's really important to him and he gets quite down if he can't train. Plus he's being so great about everything else, I don't want to push it.

xx

Just be careful with too much zinc....15mg is apparently ok and shouldnt be more than that so 30mg is too much

try reading Zita West guide to pregnancy, i brought mine from ebay, has detox plans and special foods that help and she has a fertility clinic in london, thats where my tablets have come from

I don't think his training would be a hinderence, if anything it would be good, that he's being active and healthy. Just make sure he wears boxers instead of briefs to keep the boys cool And of course no saunas or hot tubs or anything like that.
