can you do it all the time or can you only donate once?

the egg collection part scares me a little is that possible to be put to sleep through?

and is it possible to donate eggs if youve been on the pill and what are the chances of becoming pregnant as i take it tp be i would need to stop using the pill

i know i sound really stupid but i dont really know much about girly parts of the body and how its all supposed to work ect (i dont even know when im supposed to ovulate )

OH did my progesterone ones, mainly cos they were in my bum! He had a real needle phobia (has to lie down to have a jab!) but was brilliant stabbing me! Nurses show you how to do it and you get a practice go before you have to do it for real. It's actually not too bad at all, but OH can do them if you want.

There'll be an upper one I would think because obviously at a certain point it isn't that productive. Not sure about lower age limit, I'd presume it's 18.

Not entirely sure, but I imagine since you can go through IVF more than once, there's not problem donating more than once. In fact, the NHS is probably screaming out for women prepared to do that. I suspect they'd recommend that you need to give your body a month or two time to recover in between.

Depends where you donate, some places routinely use general anaesthetic whereas others prefer sedation. With sedation it's obviously a quicker recovery. Egg collection is uncomfortable but it's not horrendous and it doesn't last that long.

Yes, I have been on the pill although not for a long while. I don't know whether you'd have to come off it a month or two before to allow your body to settle back into a natural cycle or not. You will have to use some other form of contraception. Although they'd hope that none of the eggs would release early, there's always that possibility.

I think you can donate just the eggs, the egg share thing is a way of reducing the cost of treatment.

TBH I'm not sure. You could try your GP or go to someone like CARE directly and ask them.

ive got to make an appointment with my gp for my pill anyway so once i get the appointment im going to discuss it with him see what he says i just hope i would be ok to do it as im not entirely sure if i would be allowed because i had a blood transfussion in 2002 im not allowed to give blood

will need to look into it alot more and hopefully have an appointment with the gp next week and will keep yous posted if i get anywher with it

ive been following this post intently and i have to say its made me realise how much some people go thro 2 have kids! id love 2 donate my eggs i think ill maybe look into it too!

Ive got my docs appointment tomoz so going to ask him how i go about it and where i can get all the info i need to know about it, my main concern is that i might not be able to do it because i had a blood transfusion

OK just back from docs

he didnt have enough info for me to really make my mind up tbh but he said ive to think about what he has said and ring him on friday morning to discuss it better that way he can get his hands on some up to date info

he was really surprised i was asking about this but he didnt try put me off in any way either only thing he did say was i might need to have blood tests done before hand as i did have a blood transfussion just to make sure everything is ok before i can take the next step.

Im glad ive asked about it and cant wait till friday comes so hopefully i can get most of my questions answerd before i get refferd
