I'm Currently Feeling: | Appt did not go too well! Hi all, I had an appt on wed last week to see consultant at fertility clinic. I have been on clomid for cycles and nothing yet. Found out, by probing nurses that I have 8 pco (not pcos - as you have to have 10 or more to be diagnosed with pcos!) also have two friends who have had laparoscopy op and both of them were found to have endo but had no symptoms before. One of them had been trying for years before had a hsg about 4 years ago which came back clear and then her doctor recommended having lap op to see if there were any underlying problems rather than just giving clomid. She had the op and they took away endo she had 1 month of clomid and the fell preg the month after on nothing. The other friend had to have lap op as she couldn't have hsg!
Soz if this long!! Went to an informal meeting at the hospital about two weeks ago where I spoke to my consultant and had a relaxed caht and mentioned to him that this had happened to two of my friends and we discussed the possibility of haibg the lap op to see if there were any underlying probs. Well he seemed very nice and said that when I came to see him whe would sum it up and discuss it then.
Had appt lat wed and as soon as walked in he said 'well you have 10mins of my time to ask me what you like' so I again explained the situation and he spoke to me like we never discussed it and I found him very offhand. He said there was too much risk involved in the op and that it was too expensive on NHS. He suggested that i have a blood test to check for endo and explained that it was very expensive but he would do it anyways!! I also explained that it had taken quite a few visits for the nurses to notice that I had pco and that even then I had to push to find out what was wrong!
Just left appt feeling totally like I was just a number I was crying in front of the consultant and the nurse and I just feel that I should maybe have pushed more and told them my symptoms. Feel like im goona be waiting forever and that I'm just on a conveyor belt without a clue what is just on
Know i should be grateful of NHS but having a rant. Think im gonna go back to doctor and see if they can refer me to another gyno, what do you think? |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I'm so sorry to hear that your appt didn't go well. If they are not willing to find out what is wrong, try another doctor. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Honey I know how you feel *hugs* I had a horrible Gyno and after this loss we're getting referred to another Gyno.
Don't let them push you around, it's your body and its your choice, so you stand up for yourself!! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Hun, if you aren't happy then definitely see someone else.
I know how hard it is to be brave enough to get a 2nd opinon because you feel like they're the experts so you should do what they say, but at the end of the day, it is YOUR body and you should have a say of what goes on!
I changed specialists this year and am SO happy that I did.
Do what feels right, and IMO if you have a doctor that you dislike and don't trust then its not right...you need to be in the care of someone who you totally trust and understand their strategies. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Thanxs, gonna have Acupuncture on Saturday morning, just not sure wether to carry on with clomid, imean I know that I sound negative, but so far it's done nothing and I hate the side effects that I get with it! Just don't know wether to take it or to take meds that the acupuncture lady suggested? |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Going to see someone else is easier said than done in the UK and on the NHS I'm afraid - often there is only one gynae in your town!
Pixie, sorry it's turning out a p.i.t.a for you x |

for people who deal with such vulnerably feeling people, sometimes I think some of these doctors are in the wrong job. |
