Help re progeterone <30 **UPDATED**

Hello EVERYONE

Please can someone help me, i have been ttc number three for three years 1st baby with my DH... I had a m/c in May this year

So a brief history, i am being seen at assisted conception, for base line tests only as i HAVE to loose weight before they will "touch" me, hubbys sperm is ok, a tad slow...

I am on my first proper cycle after m/c and did OPK's this month got a positive on day 12/13, i was thrilled to get a positive i have 25/27 day cycles so due AF on today or Sat....

Now i had my progesterone test on Mon(cd22) and phoned yesterday, and the doctor was so nasty and would not interperate the results till my AF came, so i broke down and begged her to tell me if it was below the 30 mark and all she said was yes

I am GUTTED to say the least, i have cried non stop, i cant take anymore, i am so so confussed because i got a + OPK and ALL the symptoms... I so thought this could be our month...

After 3 years i dont know how much more heartbreak i can take, i feel i am letting my DH down so much....

So please can anyone give me an idea to what is going on, a +OPK then the doc tells me my levels are below 30, she would not tell me the number tho grrr

So sorry to droon on and on, i am just so very confussed, love Ash xxx

P.s is it possible to get a +OPK and not release an egg????

It is possible yea, an opk will tell you that your body is gearing up to ovulate but it wont tell you that you actually have.
If progesterone levels are a problem, maybe try and get some progesterone pessaries, the brand name is cyclogest and im sure theres somewhere you get them without needing to get them from the ACS.

Oh i had not actually thought of that, i assumed it was just an expensive OV kit looking for a LH rise, so it actually tells you once an egg has escaped??

I obviously dont like to part with things, hene i am not giving up my eggs lol, i have had terible right sided tubal pain today, i was going to buy a test, but whats the point if doc says the level was <30

Thanks for the reply hun xxx

Hi there. I have been prescribed Prometrium (progesterone). Low progesterone can be caused by excess weight, so that might be why your DR wants you to loose a few, but also there are other reasons. Low progesterone could cause you to miscarry. When your AF arrives, ask your DR about progesterone. I think they start after your positive OPK....and then you take throughout first trimester, or stop when AF comes. My DR is giving mine wrong. I have done some research and they should be taken right after you ovulate...but, my DR has started me to take mine when I get pregnant. By then, it is probably too late. I too miscarry. Twice last year. I am trying to loose a few too. DH is getting his boys tested too...

The clearblue easy fertility monitor will not tell you for sure that you released an egg. It will tell you when your estrogen levels increase so it gives you more warning than a OPK. If you have cycles that are less 42 days and the CBEFM will work for you.

One thing to note about progesterone. If you have a low progesterone test doesn't mean you didn't ovulate. In the US anything over 5 means you ovulated but normal levels should be above 10. I measure from 5-7 which means I ovulated but my Luteal Phase is about 10-11 days long. It is on the short side. So make sure know what you tested before you start worrying.

I don't know what is the logic behind not telling your results till your AF is here. That makes no sense and would look into getting a new dr.

Hello honey

Thank you so much for your message, i noticed in the US that there levels where classifid so different to the UK, bodies are bodies, no matter where we live, so the guidlines should be the same

I can not figure out why she wouldnt tell me the mumber

All i know is its less that 30, as i asked if it was because our cut of is levels of 30....

My cylce's are 25/27 i am on cd25 and hav no symptoms either way.

I am sorry to hear of you troubles hun, i hope you get your magic SOON, the world of ttc is so hard isn't it??

We go through our lifes being told its VERY easy to fall pregnant, so we worry about it and now when we want a baby its NOT as easy as they make out all along!!!

Thanks hun xxx
