4 months - no AF???

Hi girls,

I've posted this before but just wondering if anybody could give me some advice as my doc is useless!! I came off bcp 11 months ago and had no for the first 5 months after this.

I then had 3 quite regular , the last being in March.

Since this I've had nothing. Got about 100 negative tests and also visited the doc twice since January. Bloods have confirmed everything is normal, and my doc told me I was young enough to 'give it time'. This advice sooooo doesn't help. My DH and I decided 11 months ago to ttc, but doc will only count from first af after bcp, which now makes it only 6 months!

So frustrated! I feel like a bit of a failure, and DH is so disappointed every time he asks if there's any sign of and I say no. There are no other docs in my area which I can see, though I'm feeling brave about going in again and asking for help. Does anybody know what I could expect if my doc did decided I was 'old enough' to be helped?

P.S I'm 24!

Thought I would reply,

B4 I fell pregnant I hadn't had AF for 8 months! after going to docs constantly from the 4th month of no AF he sent me to hosp for internal Scan, and it showed polycystic ovaries. Hence the reason so AF. I decided to go on the pill to see if that made my periods regular, which it did but made my moods crazy!!

So in late Dec 07 we decided to stop taking the pill and fell pregnant in Feb. Put AF stopped as soon as I stopped the pill

I was so upset when I found out I had PCOS as I assumed that meant no babies for us, I was wrong.

Maybe u should mention PCOS to ur doc.

I know how u feel its so frustrating - Doc told me not to worry about pcos as I was too young to worry about having children! Great help he was

I had the same problem, went to my docs where I was diagnosed with PCOS (mild), wanted me to go on the pill as I was complaining about not getting but I refused and she prescribed me with Progesterone pills (which are fabulous!), I really feel as if they are regulating my cycle.

Also I had an internal ultrasound last week to check for cysts on my ovaries and none showed up

This is a result for me as I went to doctors March 2007 with same problems and was giving my marching orders.

Don't let then palm you off, demand they do something about it!

Thanks girls. PCOS was the first thing I was tested for, hormones, thyroid etc but all normal.
Mite have to talk to DH about coming with me to docs to show we are serious (incase he thinks I only have an imaginary husband!) Come to think of it, my DH is about twice the size of my doc, anybody tried intimidation tactics with their doc!? lol

Hi, about 7 months ago AF cycles were really long -for me- about 35-41 days this was driving me crazy went to the dotors and they said to not worry I asked if it could be endo they said you have to be in real pain to have that, asked if it could be pcocs -they said your periods would have stopped! Then I had appt with fertility specialists at hospital( they had already ruled out thyroid etc) he said that everything was normal just long cycles. Then started having scans done once they put me on clomid and they nevr detected anything. A couple of months ago when the nurse was scaning me she said I was ovulating on my right hand side and I said no my left then she said I had some cysts on my right ovary. She told me come back in on the next CD 2-3 and be scanned again and she said everything was ok. Then on the last visit the other nurse said I DID HAVE CYSTS on my right ovary, 8 aparantly so you have to have at least 10 to to be diagnosed with PCOS.

So I would push push push don't be worried about repeating yourself just keep pestering them until they send you for all the relevant tests!

Now I'm coming off clomid and reassesing my situation with consultant cos of all this. Believe me drs can fob you off. Symptoms can differ soo much form oerson to person.

Go to the docs again!
