I'm Currently Feeling: | Nothing wrong with me!!!!???? O.k so in Feb 08 i had my bloods done, ranging from thiriod, to glucose tolerance, all the possible causes of not ovulating.
And the doctor could not find a thing wrong with me.
Now i am 175cm tall, i have a medium build frame, and i weigh 220 pounds, which i know is alot but could all my problems be lying in my weight??????

I'm Currently Feeling: | Hey Jacky,
So sorry you're also having trouble TTC. It's just so shitty!!
Listen, I'm also working with a specialist (a reproductive endo), and all my blood tests came back fine as well. He thinks we'll eventually get pregnant on our own, but he sat us down to talk to us (read: me) about "lifestyle changes".
He mentioned that carrying additional weight can have (and I'm quoting here) "a profound effect on your ability to conceive a child". I'm not as brave as you, so I won't post my weight on this site....But I am about your height and I weigh less than you (not, like, 70 pounds less than you!!!....but less). So....all I can tell you is that if you were going to see my doctor (and I think most reproductive specialists), they would agree that you and I (and SO many other ladies) could be compromising our fertility by being overweight.
His explanation was this: Doctors still don't know why, but women who are overweight do not ovulate properly.
I hope that helps, hun!
Best of luck. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Thanks CapitalChick, i don't take any offense to my weight, see i have a bit of a huge belly on me as when i lost my son i had a c-section and because it was such a huge op to try and save my life they didn't worry about cutting most of my tummy muscles off, so around my waist i have atleast 30pounds of skin and flab well positioned thou i look 4months pregnant some days.
But i have stopped the clomid so should be able to get some of this weight off, as my gyni said the clomid holds in water so you actually gain weight on clomid.
Thanks, so my main objective should be now to lose weight and fast..... |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I too, need to lose a few. But, there is plenty of over-weight ladies getting preggers! So, who knows! Maybe with some women the weight affects their bodies differently than others. I am trying to lose a bit. I have been walking more. I lost 10 so far. I am not going to do some crash diet tho...as that isn't healthy either. (hugs) |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I don't know if your weight is the problem or not. I will share a quick story about my gf though. She had been trying for ~6 months while losing weight and the month she got under 200lbs was the month it worked. Was it the weight, or was it just her time??? dunno but I find it interesting. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | That question often runs through my head. I'm am 5'4 and 200 lbs. I did lose 20lbs int he beginning of the year and the first cycle when I started my diet, I ovulated on a perfect 32 day cycle. I haven't ovulated regularly after that, it's been 40-45 day cycle for me lately. Clomid did not work me, I was on it for 3 cycles.
When I went to my fertility specialists and he was very detailed to explain the causes of infertility. Women who over eat produces too much insulin. High amounts of insulin will affect your ovulation.
I am on a diet currently. I figured it couldn't hurt and if it helps with TTC then it's like doubly great! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I do believe weight can have an effect, more so with some people than others.
I had a 32 day cycle then lost a stone and a half and my cycle went down to 28/9 days and i ovulated more often. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | My OB/gyn told me that estrogen builds up in the fat tissues so your body gets overloaded with estrogen, which creates an imbalance since you need a balance between estrogen and progesterone to ovulate. Thus, women who are overweight theoretically don't ovulate properly.
There was a news story about this 300+ lbs obese woman who went through her entire pregnancy without realizing it. She went to the hospital for stomach cramps and overalll weird feeling in her stomach and gave birth to a perfectly healthy boy within hours of admission. So, there are always exceptions.
I am also overweight. I am 5'7 and weighed 180lbs at my doctor's office. I never would've guessed I was that fat. I am very disappointed with myself and think that's probably causing my ovulation problems. I've never been this overweight before in my life. I've been 10lbs overweight but not 50!
I'm going to go cry now... |
