I'm Currently Feeling:

What tests did you have to confirm PCOS?

I was diagnosed with pcos back in may but from what i have seen on the internet it may be worth some more investigation. I dont have any symptoms other than absent periods since feb, but around that time i had an operation and i came off the depo provera in dec! My Dr sent me for a pelvic scan and the sonogropher said my ovaries are normal size. I could see what i can only describe as bubbles on one ovary but other than that it looked ok.
I have read alot about symptoms and signs and i can only tick two off the list and thats period problems and a bit of extra weight around the middle!
Sorry for the ranting but i am a bit wary that my Dr hasnt sent me for blood tests or insulin tests! can i be diagnosed just from a scan?
Any thoughts on this would be appreciated as i feel my Dr has just fobbed me off with the BCP(even though we want another asap) and washed her hands of the situation...Please help girls it has completely devastated me as my DH had a testicle removed a few years back and it just seems another is out of our reach now.
Thanks in advance and sorry for the essay xx

I had quite a few tests at the hospital I had 3 day 21blood tests and and internal ultrasound, I think it was the u/s that actually confirmed it though.

How long have you been ttc no 2?

Have your docs referred you to the hospital to see fertility specialist yet?

it mite be worth going back to our docs

The test I received was a range of blood tests.

What they did was took blood - then I had to drink this green glucose drink
Then wait there for an hour, and they took more blood - then wait another hour
and got more blood. It's the same as a diabetes test.

I would change Drs hun, always put yourself first - if you can't get the results from
her, then look elsewhere

Thank you for the replies, i am going to see my Dr and if she doesnt do anything i am going to change Dr's and get another opinion..I just keep thinking that surely if i do have pcos i would of known earlier?! I have never had problems before this year and it all seemed to start after my operation & coming off the depo provera!! all seems to tie in too nicely in my eyes...Thanks again

I am now actually doubting that i have pcos! I have done so much research and i really cannot tick any of the boxes other than lack of AF and a bit of excess weight which i am now losing due to a much healthier diet...I really do believe it is the depo provera injection that has done all the damage! since i had that my body has gone nuts Thanks for all the replies & lisa1984 good luck with your tests x
