Waiting time for Lap in the UK?

My doctor suggested that, going on my symptoms, the Gyno would probably want to do a laparoscopy to identify the cause of my severe pelvic pain. It seems to be related to my cycle, she said, so they would probably want to do one of those.

I have not yet booked my Gyno appointment as I have to go for a scan first. I am being telephoned and offered an appointment on Monday/Tuesday and have been told it will be within the next six weeks or so. I can then go to the Gyno a few days afterwards.

My question is - how long does it normally take to receive a date for a Laparoscopy? Am I looking at weeks or months?

Well if they have told you around 6 weeks, then you already have your answer lol
I would imagine each area is going to be different, like up here for me things don't take as long as it's not a big place - do you live in a busy place?

No they told me six weeks for the scan. Its the Gynaecologist who will refer me for the Lap. I will see her after the scan.

When I lived in the UK I waited 18 months for my lap, they cancelled on me 4 That was in Swindon, I'm sure it changes from area to area.

Does the lap have to be done in the early part of your cycle the same as HSG needs to be?

In Switzerland they said I had to call them the first day of my AF, and then they booked me in as soon as my AF was finished. In Swindon it wasn't like that, but as you can see from my above post I think they're just particularly crap!! One time that they cancelled on me they didn't even tell me, so I'd arranged for a temp to cover me at work and everything, psyched myself out because it was my first and I didn't know what to expect and when I turned up they were like "oh, sorry, did no one tell you..."

I think it can depend on your particular gynae and how much they're prepared to prioritise you, as well as the area you live in. I've had 3 laparoscopies on the NHS (last one was 2 years ago - all for endometriosis, I wasn't ttc then), and I never had to wait for long - just a few weeks. The last one he said he could fit me in in a fortnight - although I couldnt arrange time off work that quickly!!
